Abstract

Base Transceiver Station (BTS) towers are highly vulnerable to lightning strikes. A lightning strike is a moving electric charge that generates an electric field and a magnetic field, both of which are vector quantities, and induces voltage around the tower. The closer to the tower, the greater the values of the electric field, magnetic field, and induced voltage generated. A 49-meter highs tower in Mataram City is located 25 and 300 meters from residential areas and public facilities. The metabolism of living organisms, such as blood circulation, nerve function, heart rate, lung function, cell growth, and cell division, are also vector quantities. Exposure of living organisms to external electric fields exceeding the threshold of ≥10 kV/m can disrupt their metabolism. It is crucial to determine the magnitude and direction of the electric field vector caused by lightning strikes on BTS towers and how it affects living organisms around the tower. Observations are based on Coulomb's Law and its derivative theories on electric fields. The peak lightning current in tropical areas ranges from 10 to 100 kA, with a frequency of 200 kHz. The electric field intensity at distances of 25 and 300 meters is 58.30, 584.50, 4.86, and 48.71 kV/m, respectively. These results indicate that a distance of 25 meters from the tower is not safe from exposure to high electric field intensity values.

Abstract

Praya Customer Service Unit (CSU), especially in the field of distribution substation and transformer maintenance, is engaged in providing maintenance of PLN distribution network assets in the electricity system. For the possibility of work accidents to occur, it is necessary to identify, analyze, and manage potential hazards and their control measures using the HIRARC method. The study found potential hazards with different categories such as repairing electrical substation installations with Extreme risk levels, controlling them by using complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), checking substation insulators with High risk levels, controlling them by using 20Kv safety gloves, measuring transformer voltage and current with a Moderate risk level (Moderate) control by checking measuring instruments, lifting equipment to the top of the transformer with a High risk level (High) control by checking the condition of the ladder regularly, and cleaning bushes around the transformer box with a Low risk level (Low) control by spraying insect repellent.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis implementasi Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) dengan mitigasi bencana pada Laboratorium Teknik Energi Surya Hidro dan Angin (TESHA) di SMKN 1 Pringgabaya. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pentingnya menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang aman dan efisien di laboratorium, serta kesiapsiagaan terhadap potensi bencana alam, khususnya banjir dan Gempa bumi. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas penerapan Metode Kaizen dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa, serta menganalisis strategi mitigasi bencana yang telah diterapkan di sekolah. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan pengumpulan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif terkait pemahaman siswa sebelum dan setelah implementasi Metode Kaizen, serta observasi terhadap upaya mitigasi bencana yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Metode Kaizen, khususnya melalui program 5S, berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dengan nilai 12,92 % dan keterampilan dengan nilai 20,31% serta mengurangi waktu pengerjaan praktikum secara signifikan. Selain itu, SMKN 1 Pringgabaya telah mengupayakan berbagai strategi, penentuan jalur evakuasi bencana alam, lokasi titik kumpul yang aman di titik koordinat (-8,5331334, 116,6365557), program sekolah aman bencana yang berkolaborasi dengan program studi magister mitigasi bencana Universitas Mataram, serta edukasi melalui media poster pada laboratorium. Kesimpulannya, implementasi K3 dengan pendekatan Kaizen dan strategi mitigasi bencana yang terencana telah meningkatkan keselamatan, efisiensi, dan kesiapsiagaan di Laboratorium TESHA SMKN 1 Pringgabaya.

Abstract

Pencahayaan yang optimal di dalam ruang kelas memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung kenyamanan visual, konsentrasi, serta efektivitas proses belajar mengajar secara keseluruhan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan pentingnya kualitas intensitas cahaya pada ruang kelas E di Jurusan Teknik Elektro, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Mataram. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengukuran intensitas cahaya menggunakan lux meter digital, penyampaian materi edukatif, serta diskusi interaktif bersama dosen dan mahasiswa. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa intensitas pencahayaan di kedua ruang kelas berada di bawah standar minimum 350 lux sebagaimana tercantum dalam SNI 6197:2011. Kondisi ini berpotensi menurunkan kenyamanan belajar dan menyebabkan kelelahan visual. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran peserta akan pentingnya pencahayaan ruang kelas yang memadai, serta menghasilkan rekomendasi praktis seperti penggunaan lampu LED dan penambahan titik pencahayaan. Diharapkan hasil kegiatan ini dapat mendorong perbaikan nyata menuju terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang lebih nyaman dan produktif.

Abstract

Laboratories are environments with a high risk of fire, especially in engineering laboratories, which frequently use electrical equipment, batteries, and flammable materials. Fire prevention and mitigation efforts are crucial for ensuring the safety of laboratory users. One of the mandatory facilities is a portable fire extinguisher (APAR), yet many students still do not understand how to use it and its function. This community service activity involved raising awareness about the importance of APAR in the Faculty of Engineering's Electric Vehicle Laboratory, with 15 students participating. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the function, types, and procedures for using fire extinguishers. Prior to the socialization, only 26.7% of students understood the function of fire extinguishers, but after the socialization, this increased to 100%. Understanding of fire extinguisher procedures increased to 86.7%. This activity demonstrated that socialization and hands-on practice can improve students' awareness and skills in fire prevention
