Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving silages of the mixture of different ratio of kume grass and Alysicarpus vaginalis on the intake of gross energy and digestibility of energy as well as metablisable energi in Ongole x Brahman cross cattle. This study used a Latin square design (RBSL) with 4 treatments and 4 periods as replications. The treatments used were: AV0: silage made of 100% kume grass, AV20: silage consisting of 80% + 20% kume grass Alysicarpus vaginalis, AV40: silage consisting of 60% + 40% kume grass Alisycarpus vaginalis, AV60: silage consisting of from kume grass 40% + 60% Alisycarpus vaginalis. The results of this study showed that feeding silage made of different ratio of kume grass silage and Alysicarpus vaginalis had significant effect (P<0.01) on energy intake, energy digestibility, and energy metabolism. The conclusion of this research is that feeding silage made of kume grass silage and Alysicarpus vaginalis in different ratio to cattle does not modify the energy utilization in Ongole.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of substitution of kume grass silage with hydroponic corn fodder on protein consumption and digestibility, NH3-N concentration, and blood urea concentration of male kacang goats. Three male kacang goats aged around 11-12 monts (initial body weigh = 13,5-17,1 kg) were used in this study following a 3 x 3 Latin Square Design (RBSL) with 3 treatments and 3 periods as replication. The treatments tested were: FCG0 = 70% kume grass silage + 30% concentrate; FCG1 = 35% kume grass silage + 35% hydroponic corn fodder + 30%  concentrate; FCG2 = 20% kume grass silage + 50% hydroponic corn fodder + 30% concentrate. Data obtained from this study were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s multiple distance test using SPSS 22. The result of this study indicated that replacing kume grass silage with hydroponic corn fodder had no significant effect (P>0.05) on protein consumption, protein digestibility, NH3-N concentration, and blood urea concentration in male kacang goats. It can be concluded that hydroponic corn fodder can replace kume grass silage up to 50% in the diet without changing protein utilization in male kacang goats.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of long biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with putak flour carbon source on persial VFA concentration and methane gas production. The method used in this study is an experimental method with Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats so that there are 16 experimental units. The treatment levels are as follows: LB21 = Biofermentation duration for 21 days (as control), LB14 = Biofermentation duration for 14 days, LB7 = Biofermentation duration for 7 days, LB0 = Biofermentation duration for 0 days. The variables studied were the concentration of acetate, propionate, butyrate, valerate and methane gas production. The results of the study are as follows: LB21: acetate of 12.06 mM, propionate of 2.98 mM, butyrate of 1.22 mM, valerate of 0.35 mM and methane gas production of 2.80 mM; LB14: acetate of 10.60 mM, propionate of 3.04 mM, butyrate of 1.39 mM, valerate of 0.33 mM and methane gas production of 2.48 mM; LB7: acetate of 10.89 mM, propionate of 2.83 mM, butyrate of 0.82 mM, valerate of 0.28 mM and methane gas production of 2.51 mM; LB0: acetate of 14.03 mM, propionate of 3.02 mM, butyrate of 1.59 mM, valerate of 0.30 mM and methane gas production of 3.45 mM. The results of statistical analysis showed that the effect of the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with a carbon source of putak flour had no real effect (P>0.05) on the concentration of acetic acid, propionic, butyrate valerate and methane gas production. It was concluded that the length of time of biofermentation with the carbon source of putak flour did not affect the concentration of acetic, propionic, butyric, valerate acids and methane gas production.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with the best source of liquid palm sugar carbon to obtain the content of NDF, ADF, and Minerals Ca and P. The method used in this study was an experimental method with Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats so that there were 16 experimental units. The treatment levels are as follows: LB21 = Biofermentation duration for 21 days (as control), LB14 = Biofermentation duration for 14 days, LB7 = Biofermentation duration for 7 days, LB0 = Biofermentation duration for 0 days. The variables studied were NDF, ADF, and Ca and Phosphorus Minerals. The results of the study are as follows: LB21: NDF of 40.286%, ADF of 29.2775%, Calcium of 0.9105%, Phosphorus of 0.53652%; LB14: NDF of 57.382%, ADF of 36.1975%, Calcium of 0.90725%, Phosphorus of 0.53775%; LB7: NDF of 47.02%, ADF of 30.1275%, Calcium of 0.86925%, Phosphorus of 0.51225%; LB0: NDF of 2.478%, ADF of 40.7375%, Calcium of 0.8045%, Phosphorus of 0.48375%. The results of statistical analysis showed that the long treatment of biofermentation time with a source of liquid palm sugar carbon had a significant effect (P<0,05) to contet ndf dan adf chromolaena odorata, whereas parameter calcium and phosphorus no real effect (P>0.05). It was concluded that the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with a source of liquid palm sugar carbon affected the levels of Neutral Detergent Fiber and Acid Detergent Fiber but did not affect the content of Calcium and Phosphorus Minerals.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the duration of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source on energy content. The method used in this research is experimental method to test 4 treatments of fermentation time on Chromolaena odorata. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replicates so that there were 16 experimental units. The treatments were: LB-0 = without biofermentation, LB-7 = 7 days biofermentation duration, LB-14 = 14 days biofermentation duration, LB-21 = 21 days biofermentation duration. Variables observed were carbohydrate content, BETN, gross energy, metabolic energy and TDN. Data were analyzed by variance analysis at 5% alpha level, differences between treatments were tested by Duncan's multiple tests. The results showed that the duration of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source had a very significant effect (P=0.001) on BETN content (37.94-43.89%), GE content (4,282-4,429 kcal/kg BK), and EM content (3,067-3,443 kcal/kg BK), while the carbohydrate content (60.02-62.69%) and TDN content (61.60-63.80%) had no significant effect (P=0.07 and 0.27). It was concluded that the length of time of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source increased energy content, with the best length of time for carbohydrate, BETN, and TDN for 7 days; GE for 14 days, while EM for 21 days.

Abstract

Physiological status is an indicator to determine the degree of health and productivity of livestock. This study aims to identify the physiological status of Sumba Ongole (SO) beef cattle on the island of Sumba by measuring body temperature, respiration frequency, pulse, and body conditioning score (BCS). Overall, there were 70 cows used in the study. Based on gender, there were 21 bulls and 49 cows and they were classified based on age, there were 3 categories, 1-1.5 years, 2-2.5 years, and 3 years. The parameters measured were body temperature, respiratory rate, pulse frequency, and BCS. The results of the study which were processed using analysis of variances (ANOVA) showed that there was no effect of sex or age on body temperature, respiration frequency, pulse frequency (P> 0.05), but there was a significant difference in the age category with the body score of SO cattle (P<0.05). It could be concluded that the physiological status of SO beef cattle which includes body temperature, respiration frequency, and pulse frequency does not show a significant effect on both sex and age, but there is a significant difference in the body score of cattle based on age categories. This research data could probably be used later as a reference for maintaining the health management of SO beef cattle to achieve optimal productivity and profitability.

Abstract

Experiments were carried out to knowing the effect of cassava peels fermentation which different EM4levels on in vitro partial VFA concentrations and what is the best level of EM4 used in cassava peelfermentation to obtain optimal in vitro partial VFA concentrations. Experiment using technique withcoompletely randomized design, 4 treatmens 3 replications P0= 0% unfermented cassava peel, P1=cassava peel using Effective Microorganisme-4 5%, P2= cassava peel using Effective Microorganisme-410%, P3= cassava peel usinEffective Microorganisme-4 15%. The parameters studied were acetic,butyric and propionic acids. The data were analyzed using Mikrosoft Exell 2007. The concentration ofacetic acid varied between 62,38%-72,99%, the concentration of butyric acid varied between 3,09%-6,44% and the concentration of propionic acid varied between 5,04%-12,45%, further test data determinethat the fermented yam skin flour was not different take effeck in the partial VFA of acetic, butyric andpropionic acids (P<0,05). The conclusion was that cassava peel use EM4 at different levels determinedthat the partial VFA concentration.was relatyvely the same. Eksperimen dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui efek kulit ubi kayu pada level Effektif Mikroorganisme-4yang berbeda pada konsentrasi VFA parsial secara in vitro dan berapa level terbaik dari EM4 digunakandalam fermentasi kulit ubi kayu untuk mendapatkan konsentrasi VFA parsial in vitro optimal.Eksperimen menggunakan teknik Rancangan Acak Lengkap, 4 perlakuan 3 ulangan P0= kulit ubi kayutidak difermentasi 0%, P1= kulit ubi kayu menggunakan Efektif Mikroorganisme-4 5%, P2= kulit ubikayu menggunakan Efektif Mikroorganisme-4 10%, P3= kulit ubi kayu menggunakan EfektifMikroorganisme-4 15%. Parameter yang diteliti yaitu asam asetat, butirat serta propionat dapatdianalisis data menggunakan Microsoft exell 2007. Konsentrasi asam asetat bervariasi antara 62,38%-72,99%, konsentrasi asam butirat bervariasi antara 3,09%-6,44% serta konsentrasi asam propionatberagam antara 5,04%-12,45%, hasil analisis statistik menentukan tepung kulit ubi kayu difermentasipada taraf yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh nyata pada VFA Parsial asam asetat, butirat, serta propionat(P<0,05). Simpulan, fermentasi kulit ubi kayu menggunakan EM4 pada taraf berbeda menghasilkankonsentrasi VFA parsial relatif sama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh umur panen larva lalat tentara hitam yang dipelihara pada media mengandung tepung daun kelor dan daun lamtoro terhadap panjang, berat, dan kecepatan pertumbuhan maggot. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode percobaan dengan menggunakan pola Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan yang terdiri dari UP1 = Umur Panen 1 hari, UP5 = Umur panen 5 hari, UP10 = Umur panen 10 hari, UP15= Umur panen 15 hari, UP20 = Umur panen 20 hari. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap panjang, berat, dan kecepatan pertumbuhan maggot. Umur panen 20 hari menghasilkan panjang dan berat yang tertinggi. Sedangkan kecepatan pertumbuhan semakin menurun. Disimpulkan bahwa umur panen mempengaruhi panjang, berat, dan kecepatan pertumbuhan maggot.

Abstract

The aim of this experiment was to determine the effect of level substitution of Suket Putihan Grass (Bothriochloa pertusa) grass with water spinach (Ipomea Reptans Poir) on Energi Utilization of Kacang Goat. Four male kacang goats aged 1-1.5 years old with an initial body weight of 16,2 –19,8 kg (averaged ± 18 kg) were used in this study following a 4x4 Latin Square Design (RBSL) with 4 treatments and 4 periods as replications. The treatments were P0: 60% Bothriochloa pertusa + 40% lamtoro, P1:45% Bothriochloa pertusa + 40% lamtoro + 15% Ipomea Reptans Poir, P2 : 30% Bothriochloa pertusa + 40% Leucaena leucocephala + 30% Ipomea Reptans Poir, P3:15% Bothriochloa pertusa + 40% lamtoro + 45% Ipomea Reptans Poir. Parameters measured were energy consumption, energy digestibility, digestible energy and metabolisable energy. Data obtained were analyzed using the analysis of variance(ANOVA) The results showed that  substitution of Bothriochloa pertusa grass with Ipomea Reptans Poir had no significant effect (P>0,05) on all measured parameters. The conclusion is that the substitution of Suket Putihan grass (Bothriochloa pertusa) with water spinach (Ipomea Reptans Poir) does not affect Energy Utilization of kacang goats.
