Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of substitution of kume grass silage with hydroponic corn fodder on protein consumption and digestibility, NH3-N concentration, and blood urea concentration of male kacang goats. Three male kacang goats aged around 11-12 monts (initial body weigh = 13,5-17,1 kg) were used in this study following a 3 x 3 Latin Square Design (RBSL) with 3 treatments and 3 periods as replication. The treatments tested were: FCG0 = 70% kume grass silage + 30% concentrate; FCG1 = 35% kume grass silage + 35% hydroponic corn fodder + 30%  concentrate; FCG2 = 20% kume grass silage + 50% hydroponic corn fodder + 30% concentrate. Data obtained from this study were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s multiple distance test using SPSS 22. The result of this study indicated that replacing kume grass silage with hydroponic corn fodder had no significant effect (P>0.05) on protein consumption, protein digestibility, NH3-N concentration, and blood urea concentration in male kacang goats. It can be concluded that hydroponic corn fodder can replace kume grass silage up to 50% in the diet without changing protein utilization in male kacang goats.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of long biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with putak flour carbon source on persial VFA concentration and methane gas production. The method used in this study is an experimental method with Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats so that there are 16 experimental units. The treatment levels are as follows: LB21 = Biofermentation duration for 21 days (as control), LB14 = Biofermentation duration for 14 days, LB7 = Biofermentation duration for 7 days, LB0 = Biofermentation duration for 0 days. The variables studied were the concentration of acetate, propionate, butyrate, valerate and methane gas production. The results of the study are as follows: LB21: acetate of 12.06 mM, propionate of 2.98 mM, butyrate of 1.22 mM, valerate of 0.35 mM and methane gas production of 2.80 mM; LB14: acetate of 10.60 mM, propionate of 3.04 mM, butyrate of 1.39 mM, valerate of 0.33 mM and methane gas production of 2.48 mM; LB7: acetate of 10.89 mM, propionate of 2.83 mM, butyrate of 0.82 mM, valerate of 0.28 mM and methane gas production of 2.51 mM; LB0: acetate of 14.03 mM, propionate of 3.02 mM, butyrate of 1.59 mM, valerate of 0.30 mM and methane gas production of 3.45 mM. The results of statistical analysis showed that the effect of the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with a carbon source of putak flour had no real effect (P>0.05) on the concentration of acetic acid, propionic, butyrate valerate and methane gas production. It was concluded that the length of time of biofermentation with the carbon source of putak flour did not affect the concentration of acetic, propionic, butyric, valerate acids and methane gas production.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with the best source of liquid palm sugar carbon to obtain the content of NDF, ADF, and Minerals Ca and P. The method used in this study was an experimental method with Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats so that there were 16 experimental units. The treatment levels are as follows: LB21 = Biofermentation duration for 21 days (as control), LB14 = Biofermentation duration for 14 days, LB7 = Biofermentation duration for 7 days, LB0 = Biofermentation duration for 0 days. The variables studied were NDF, ADF, and Ca and Phosphorus Minerals. The results of the study are as follows: LB21: NDF of 40.286%, ADF of 29.2775%, Calcium of 0.9105%, Phosphorus of 0.53652%; LB14: NDF of 57.382%, ADF of 36.1975%, Calcium of 0.90725%, Phosphorus of 0.53775%; LB7: NDF of 47.02%, ADF of 30.1275%, Calcium of 0.86925%, Phosphorus of 0.51225%; LB0: NDF of 2.478%, ADF of 40.7375%, Calcium of 0.8045%, Phosphorus of 0.48375%. The results of statistical analysis showed that the long treatment of biofermentation time with a source of liquid palm sugar carbon had a significant effect (P<0,05) to contet ndf dan adf chromolaena odorata, whereas parameter calcium and phosphorus no real effect (P>0.05). It was concluded that the length of biofermentation time of Chromolaena odorata with a source of liquid palm sugar carbon affected the levels of Neutral Detergent Fiber and Acid Detergent Fiber but did not affect the content of Calcium and Phosphorus Minerals.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the duration of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source on energy content. The method used in this research is experimental method to test 4 treatments of fermentation time on Chromolaena odorata. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replicates so that there were 16 experimental units. The treatments were: LB-0 = without biofermentation, LB-7 = 7 days biofermentation duration, LB-14 = 14 days biofermentation duration, LB-21 = 21 days biofermentation duration. Variables observed were carbohydrate content, BETN, gross energy, metabolic energy and TDN. Data were analyzed by variance analysis at 5% alpha level, differences between treatments were tested by Duncan's multiple tests. The results showed that the duration of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source had a very significant effect (P=0.001) on BETN content (37.94-43.89%), GE content (4,282-4,429 kcal/kg BK), and EM content (3,067-3,443 kcal/kg BK), while the carbohydrate content (60.02-62.69%) and TDN content (61.60-63.80%) had no significant effect (P=0.07 and 0.27). It was concluded that the length of time of Chromolaena odorata biofermentation with liquid palm sugar carbon source increased energy content, with the best length of time for carbohydrate, BETN, and TDN for 7 days; GE for 14 days, while EM for 21 days.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the level of C. odorata (CO) silage-based concentrate on the blood profiles of Bali cattle. Three male Bali cattle (initial 2 years old with CV = 19,28%) were randomly assigned to one of three meals: rice straw and concentrates containing C.odorata silage 30% (RCO30) or  C.odorata silage 40% (RCO40) or C.odorata silage 50% (RCO50), respectively, using a 3 x 3 Latin Square Design. The was no significant effect between treatments (P> 0.05) on blood cholesterol (195.74-220.49 mg/dL), blood urea (48.41-49.44 mg/dL), total blood plasma (6.08-6.93 g/dL), blood haemoglobin (Hb; 18.18-18.92 g/dL), hematocrit levels (45.56-53.03%), erythrocytes (7.06-8.24 106/l), and leucocytes (8.56-8.84/l). Blood glucose levels, however, differed significantly (P<0.05) between treatment. Feeding Bali cattle with different levels of C.odorata-based concentrate resulted in the same effect on all blood parameters except blood glucose. Therefore, it is recommended that the use of C.odorata in a ration of Bali cattle can be up to 50%.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of substituting Kume Grass hay with maize fodder hay on the feeding behavior of Kacang Goats. Eight goats weighing 10–15 kg were used in a change-over design with four treatments and two periods as replicates. The treatments were: DMF0 (70% Kume Grass hay + 30% concentrate), DMF1 (52.5% Kume Grass hay + 17.5% maize fodder hay + 30% concentrate), DMF2 (35% Kume Grass hay + 35% maize fodder hay + 30% concentrate), and DMF3 (17.5% Kume Grass hay + 52.5% maize fodder hay + 30% concentrate). Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. Results showed that feeding time ranged from 4.5 to 7.0 hours/day, eating frequency from 6.3 to 12.8 times/day, rumination time from 3.6 to 5.1 hours/day, rumination frequency from 10.1 to 19.6 times/day, resting time from 13.1 to 14.5 hours/day, and resting frequency from 17.1 to 21.8 times/day. Statistical analysis revealed that the treatments significantly (P<0.05) affected feeding time, eating frequency, and resting frequency, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on rumination time, rumination frequency, and resting time. In conclusion the substitution of Kume Grass hay with maize fodder hay up to 75% the eating duration, eating frequency and resting frequency, but it does not affect the rumination duration, rumination frequency and resting duration.

Abstract

Tujuannya studi ini guna melihat pengaruh pengguna level inokulum EM4 (Effective Microorganisms 4) terhadap kandungan lemak kasar dan anti nutrisi (tanin, dan kafein) pada kulit kopi. Studi ini memakai RAL dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan sehingga memperoleh 24 unit percobaan. Perlakuannya yakni Li-0 (kulit kopi tanpa EM4), Li-2 (kulit kopi + 2 ml EM4), Li-4 (kulit kopi + 4 ml EM4), Li-6 (kulit kopi + 6 ml EM4), Li-8 (kulit kopi + 8 ml EM4), Li-10 (kulit kopi +10 ml EM4). Parameter yang diamati kandungan lemak kasar dan anti nutrisi (kafein dan tanin). Datanya didapat dianalisa memakai sidik ragam dan uji Duncan. Temuan studi ini memperlihatkan kulit kopi dengan penambahan level inokulum EM4 (Effective Microorganisms 4) pada kandungan lemak kasar, kafein dan tanin memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01). Pada penelitian ini kandungan lemak kasar mengalami peningkatan sedangkan kandungan tanin dan kafein mengalami penurunan dengan masing-masing yakni 3,92-5,90%, 1,24-0,97% dan 0,50-0,20%. Melihat temuan studi ini memperlihatkan fermentasi kulit kopi dengan memakai inokulum EM4 dapat meningatkan kandungan lemak kasar dan dapat menurunkan kandungan tanin dan kafein. Level yang terbaik yang bisa meningkatkannya kandungan lemak kasar serta penurunan kandungan tanin dan kafein terdapat pada perlakuan Li-8 .

Abstract

Abstrak: Ketersediaan pakan berkualitas merupakan salah satu kendala utama dalam usaha penggemukan domba di Kelurahan Mokdale, Kabupaten Rote Ndao, terutama pada musim kemarau. Permasalahan ini diperparah oleh belum optimalnya pemanfaatan limbah pertanian sebagai sumber pakan alternatif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam mengolah limbah pertanian menjadi pakan ternak melalui penerapan teknologi fermentasi, silase, dan amoniasi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan pendidikan dan pelatihan yang dilanjutkan dengan praktik langsung serta pendampingan berkelanjutan berbasis Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 orang peternak domba yang terdiri atas 10 laki-laki dan 5 perempuan. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 80% peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman terhadap teknik pengolahan limbah pertanian menjadi pakan ternak. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal secara lebih efisien serta mendukung keberlanjutan usaha peternakan domba di wilayah Kelurahan Mokdale.Abstract: The availability of high-quality feed remains a major constraint in sheep fattening systems in Mokdale Village, Rote Ndao Regency, particularly during the dry season. This challenge is exacerbated by the underutilization of agricultural residues as alternative feed resources. This community service program aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and practical skills in processing agricultural waste into livestock feed through the application of fermentation, silage, and ammoniation technologies. The program was implemented using an education- and training-based approach, followed by hands-on practice and continuous mentoring within a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) framework. A total of 15 sheep farmers (10 men and 5 women) participated in the activities. Activity evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test measurements. Evaluation results indicated that approximately 80% of participants demonstrated improved understanding of techniques for processing agricultural residues into sheep feed. Overall, the program contributed to promoting more efficient utilization of local resources and supporting the sustainability of sheep production systems in Mokdale Village.

Abstract

AbstrakPelaksanaan kegiatan PKM pada kelompok Tani Nefo Tua Desa Ponain Kecamatan Amarasi Kabupaten Kupang bertujuan untuk meningkatan peningkatan kesejahtraan anggota kelompok melalui penyelsaian masalah belum maksimalnya pengelolaan daging dalam pembuatan se’i, kemasan daging se’i dan pemasaran produk hasil yang lebih luas. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah penggunaan alat pengasapan yang dirancang khusus dalam pengolahan se’i, penggunaan teknologi alat vakum untuk pengemasan serta starategi membangunan jaringan penjualan melalui pemanfaatan toko modern. Metode  yang digunakan melalui penyuluhan partisipatif, praktek pelatihan secara langsung. Hasil kegiatan ini telah memberikan dampak positif bagi kelompok tani terkait pengetahuan tentang dinamika kelompok, analisis pemasaran serta penggunaan alat pengasapan yang benar dan efektif dalam menghasilkan produk se’i yang memiliki kualitas gizi dan layak. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, tingkat penerimaan Kelompok Tani Nefo Tua terhadap produk se’i menunjukkan respons yang baik, yang ditunjukkan 50% anggota menyukai produk dan menilai cita rasa produk memiliki karakteristik khas se’i. Aspek peningkatan kapasitas, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan 66,67% setelah pelatihan, yang didukung dengan penilaian 66,67% keterampilan tim pelaksana. Aspek pengembangan usaha 83,33% menilai se’i memiliki prospek ekonomi, dan 66,67% menyatakan minat untuk mengembangkannya, meskipun daya tari kemasan berada pada kategori sedang dengan 50% menilai menarik. Kesimpulan pelatihan pembuatan se’i daging sapi menghasilkan produk yang layak dipasarkan dan berpotensi menjadi usaha prospektif bagi kelompok tani melalui penerapan standarisasi produk, ketersediaan bahan baku, dan manajemen pemasaran yang mendukung peningkatan kesejahteraan. Kata kunci: ekonomi; kelompok tani nefo tua; kupang; se’i. Abstract The first problem faced by the Nefo Tua Farmers Group community engagement partners is Ponain Village, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency. The development of se'i as a processed meat business product has yet to be developed optimally. The second problem is that the marketing of se'i products needs to be maximised by improving packaging. The third problem is marketing analysis and development prospects for se'i. The solution offered consists of two programs, namely the first program, carrying out se'i processing using smoking equipment and the second program, marketing se'i products using labelled vacuum packaging. The third program is marketing analysis and product development of se’i. The methods provided include participatory counselling, practical training, and direct demonstrations in processing beef se'i and packaging the resulting se'i products, as well as guidance and mentoring. As a result of the service activities, the Nefo Tua Farmers group gained knowledge about group dynamics and business and marketing analysis, as well as applying and demonstrating knowledge about processing beef into se'i using a closed smoker and practically packaging the products produced. Based on the evaluation, the acceptance of the se’i product by the Nefo Tua Farmer Group was categorized as favourable, with 50% of participants reporting a preference for the product and perceiving its sensory attributes as representative of the distinctive characteristics of se’i. In terms of capacity building, a 66.67% increase in knowledge was observed following the training, supported by a 66.67% positive assessment of the facilitation team’s technical competence. From a business development perspective, 83.33% of identified se’i as having economic potential, and 66.67% expressed an intention to pursue their development as an entrepreneurial activity, although the perceived attractiveness of the packaging remained moderate, with 50% of rating it as appealing. Abstract

Penelitian ini mengevaluasi substitusi silase star grass (Cynodon plectostachyus) dengan fodder jagung terhadap konsumsi energi dan kecernaan energi serta energi tercerna pada sapi Bali dara. Sebanyak 4 ekor ternak dengan bobot badan awal 99,5–152 kg digunakan dalam rancangan bujur sangkar Latin (RBSL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 periode sebagai ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari: FJ0 (100% silase star grass), FJ20 (80% silase star grass + 20% fodder jagung), FJ40 (60% silase star grass + 40% fodder jagung), dan FJ60 (40% silase star grass + 60% fodder jagung). Variabel yang diamati meliputi konsumsi energi dam kecernaan energi serta energi tercerna. Analisis data menggunakan sidik ragam dan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa substitusi silase star grass dengan fodder jagung memiliki efek yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap konsumsi energi, berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap energi tercerna, tetapi tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kecernaan energi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa substitusi fodder jagung hingga 60% dalam silase star grass belum optimal dalam meningkatkan konsumsi energi dan kecernaan energi serta energi tercerna pada sapi Bali dara. Proporsi optimal yang direkomendasikan adalah FJ20 (20% fodder jagung), karena memberikan keseimbangan terbaik antara kandungan serat kasar dan ketersediaan energi.
