Abstract

The management of urban plastic waste poses a significant challenge for the global environment and economy. An innovative horizontal tube pyrolysis reactor with a tiered condensation system, designed for a capacity of 50 kg, has been developed to convert mixed plastic waste into liquid fuels such as diesel, kerosene, and gasoline through an efficient and environmentally friendly pyrolysis process. The reactor, with a diameter of 760 mm and a length of 1200 mm, maximizes heat distribution to ensure uniform heating without requiring mechanical rotation or stirring. External heating is maintained at a temperature range of 300°C to 350°C under anaerobic conditions to prevent direct combustion. System trials demonstrated that the conversion of plastic waste to liquid fuel products can achieve an efficiency of up to 70% of the total input mass, yielding an average of 50% liquid fuel fractions, 15% solid residue, and 35% pyrolysis gas. Analysis of the liquid fuel quality indicates hydrocarbon content comparable to conventional fuels, with potential applications in internal combustion engines. The system is designed to be self-sufficient, utilizing pyrolysis gas to sustain the process and thereby reducing external energy requirements by up to 30%. These findings highlight the significant potential of horizontal tube-based pyrolysis systems in efficiently reducing urban plastic waste while providing alternative fuel sources. This technology can thus support sustainable waste management efforts and contribute to the transition toward renewable energy.

Abstract

Tambakrejo Village is one of the areas in Semarang City that is often affected by flooding, administratively it is included in Gayamsari District. Being in a coastal area with an elevation close to sea level means that the Tambakrejo District area has the risk of flooding and tidal problems, where tidal disasters have so far submerged more than 2.5 hectares of land with 25 residents' houses lost. Flood and tidal conditions directly or indirectly affect all aspects of people's lives. The impact of disasters results in damage to facilities and infrastructure, disruption of social activities, education and public health. If this continues, it is feared that it will increase community vulnerability and decline. The aim of the DPIK program is to increase community capacity to have the independent ability to adapt in facing potential disasters and other impacts of climate change, through the Smart and Disaster Resilient Village movement.

Abstract

Milkfish processing is a superior product and a typical souvenir from Semarang City that requires serious attention because it has a significant impact on regional economic growth. Tambakrejo Village is a thematic village of Semarang City (Milkfish Processing Village) with the formation of the Putri Laut Processing and Marketing Group (Poklahsar) since 2017 with 21 members. Business actors in Poklahsar still face problems in production and marketing aspects. Partners in this PDTI are Poklahsar Putri Laut and Tambakrejo Village. In terms of production, the production capacity of presto milkfish is limited to only ± 50 kg / day. In addition, processed milkfish has a short shelf life so that technology needs to be applied. The reach of marketing aspects, product promotion is still lacking , In this community service activity, Retort pan facilities were provided, is one of the thermal food preservation techniques, which has many advantages, namely a shelf life of more than six months. The pressure cooker is a hybrid model specifically designed to make soft-boned milkfish effectively and efficiently. This presto milkfish cooker is a combination of innovations about soft-boned milkfish cookers with temperature and time control . The tool still uses LPG fuel and a soft-boned milkfish cooker with an electric heater.

Abstract

Coastal ecosystems are synonymous with mangrove trees. Threatened mangrove existence is tantamount to reduced biological existence, weakened coastal protection, and reduced carbon storage. Moreover, mangrove growth naturally depends on the quality of seedlings supported by proper nursery management. This study aims to evaluate the impact of four environmental factors (light intensity, salinity, pH, and tidal frequency) on the growth and survival of Rhizophora: Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa, and Rhizophora apiculata cultivated in nurseries with a water system integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT). A single-factor design was applied, with each treatment bed containing 600 seedlings (200 per species) and an uncontrolled bed as a control. Weekly random sampling of 20% of seedlings from each treatment for eight weeks. Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA with treatment and species as fixed factors, followed by the Tukey HSD test at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that R. mucronata in the light treatment (without shade net) achieved the highest survival rate (98.8%) and the largest stem diameter, which was 0.698 cm. In addition, the highest seedling height was R. mucronata in the high-yield salinity treatment, reaching 56.78 cm, and the highest number of leaves was recorded in R. apiculata in the salinity treatment, with an average of 6.92 leaves per seedling. IoT-integrated nurseries stabilize water supply and tidal cycles, reduce mortality to below 10%, and enhance seedling quality. These findings indicate that nursery environmental management can improve the consistency of mangrove seedling growth and support large-scale restoration.
