Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is an area with a dry climate with a rainfall capacity of less than 2,000 mm/year, which is around 72%, so it is classified as a drought-prone area. The characteristics of drought hazards are quite different from those of other disaster hazards because they do not appear suddenly but occur slowly and are easily overlooked. The impact will begin to be felt when agricultural production, for example, food crops, and meeting drinking needs, begins to decrease, leading to a loss of livelihood due to a lack of water supply. Data on drought, especially regarding the area of food crop farming and the number of farmers affected by drought, is still very rare. This study aims to map and classify districts and cities in NTT Province based on the level of drought, estimating the harvest area and production of the food crop agricultural sector affected by the drought and estimating the number of food crop farmers affected by the drought as detected by remote sensing data. This estimate uses the MOD13Q1 remote sensing approach by measuring the Vegetation Health Index (VHI) of land affected by drought. The results of the study show that the most significant impact of the drought occurred in Timur Tengah Selatan district, with the number of affected farmers amounting to 20231 people. The percentage of food crop farmers whose livelihoods have been affected by the drought is quite large in the districts of Malaka, Sumba Barat Daya, Sabu Raijua, Timor Tengah Selatan, and Sumba Barat.

Abstract

Abstract

Expansive fiscal policy causes government expenditure to accelerate faster than its revenue. Debt is the most common alternative used by a country in financing a budget deficit. Fiscal policy is said to be sustainable if the government is able to manage its debt and financing so that it does not burden the budget in the future. This study aims to determine the effect of debt and macroeconomic variables on fiscal sustainability in Indonesia in 1986-2020. The data used is secondary data in the form of time series obtained from the APBN, IMF, the Ministry of Finance, and The World Bank. This research uses Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) analysis method. The conclusion of this study shows that in the long term, the government is less able to respond to the increase in debt burden so that fiscal policy in the 1990-2021 period is not sustainable. In addition, debt ratios, oil prices, economic growth, and interest rates each have a significant effect on the primary balance ratio. Meanwhile, the exchange rate has no significant effect on the primary balance ratio.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic at the end of 2019 caused several obstacles to achieve the SDGs. The Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU), which is an indicator of the second SDGs goal, has increased from 2020 to 2022. This increase is allegedly due to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted to find out whether COVID-19 was included in the factors that influenced the increase in PoU or other factors that influenced it. The quantitative method used in this study, namely correlation analysis and multiple linear regression to obtain a model that shows how much influence the independent variables used have on the PoU. Based on this analysis, two variables were obtained that had a significant influence on the PoU, namely the percentage of poor people and the amount of rice production. So it can be concluded that even though COVID-19 had an effect on PoU, it was not significant. The factors that have a significant effect on PoU are the aspect of food affordability which is represented by the variable percentage of poor people and the aspect of food availability which is represented by the variable amount of rice production.

Abstract

Access to sanitation is a fundamental component of health. Poor sanitation can reduce human welfare and hinder a country's socio-economic development. Therefore, access to adequate and equitable sanitation for all is a target to be achieved by 2030. This study aims to analyze the influence of socioeconomic factors on access to proper sanitation in Indonesia in 2021. The method used includes descriptive analysis in the form of graphs and data center sizes as well as inferential analysis with multiple linear regression. The results showed that the level of completion of high school and owning a latrine significantly increased access to proper sanitation. Conversely, the share of food expenditure significantly reduces access to proper sanitation. The government must prioritize sustainable education by expanding scholarship programs and also boosting financial support for the construction of sanitation facilities. To raise public awareness, there has to be more socialization and teaching about the value of good sanitation.

Abstract

The lack of a workforce-to-employment-opportunity balance on the Indonesian labor market in 2022 is worrisome. In an effort to make the workforce more competitive, labor productivity indicators are available on the labor market itself. This study aims to analyze the level of labor productivity in Indonesia in terms of quality in the economic development pillars in achieving the eighth Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study uses K-Means Clustering and multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the K-Means Clustering method, three provincial clusters were obtained with levels of labor productivity from lowest to highest. The results showed that the open unemployment rate and the percentage of the labor force with basic education significantly reduced labor productivity, while the wage rate significantly increased labor productivity. Improving the labor market by looking at labor productivity and the variables that influence it in Indonesia can be carried out in an efficient manner according to the areas that have been mapped by implementing employment innovations.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem that arises from a lack of nutrition and can interfere with the growth and development of children. The high prevalence of stunting can be an indicator of the low quality of a country's human resources. The impacts include limited cognitive abilities, low productivity, and a high risk of disease, which have a long-term negative impact on the preservation of the country. Therefore, stunting is one of the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia in 2021. This study used a cross-sectional approach with secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Indonesian Ministry of Health. The research methods used are descriptive analysis and inferential analysis with multiple linear regression. The results showed that the proportion of low-birth-weight babies significantly increased the prevalence of stunting. On the other hand, the proportion of households that had access to sanitation allowed it to significantly reduce the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia.

Abstract

Wasting is a serious problem because it has a significant impact on various sectors of life, especially hindering the progress of individuals and human resources in a country. The highest waste incident in Indonesia is in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of under-five wasting in NTT Province in 2021. The research method used is multiple linear regression. The research findings show that the percentage of extremely poor people, the percentage of women who give birth to babies with low birth weight, and the percentage of two-year-old babies who have ever been breastfed have a significant effect on the percentage of toddlers wasting. As a solution, it requires a collaborative effort from governments, health agencies, civil society organizations, and the community as a whole to tackle the problem of wasting and improve the health and well-being of children.

Abstract

One of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) includes improving nutrition to overcome the many cases of hunger that occur in the world. Fulfillment of nutritional needs can be obtained by diversifying food. In Indonesia, food diversity is described by the Expected Dietary Pattern (PPH) score. In 2022, the PPH score experienced a substantial jump compared to the previous year, namely by 5.7 points. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the PPH score and the condition of food diversity. The method used is cluster analysis with the Bicluster CC algorithm and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that there are two regional groupings in Indonesia which are divided into areas with high food diversity in five provinces on Java Island and areas with low food diversity. The analysis that has been carried out also shows that there is a significant positive relationship between per capita spending and school enrollment rates on PPH scores.
