Abstract

This research was conducted at Coban Talun Hulu Sungai Brantas, Batu City, East Java in August 2020, this study aims to inventory, analyze the abundance of periphyton, analyze water parameters in the Brantas Coban Talun Hulu River. Determination of the location for sampling purposive. Physical and chemical parameters measured include temperature, pH, DO, turbidity and salinity. This study found 17 periphytic families, consisting of Naviculaceae, Melosiraceae, Bacillariaceae, Skeletonemaceae, Rhizosoleniaceae, Coscinodiscaceae, Peridiniaceae, Gonyaulacaceae, Triceratiaceae, Protoperidiniaceae, Striatellaceae, Dinophysaceae, Lithodesmiaceae, Leptocylindraceae, and Striatellaceae. The results of the abundance of periphyton showed that Coban Talun was at a good level. Periphyton community which is dominated by Bacillariophyceae group shows good water quality. Based on the analysis of water quality parameters, Coban Talun is in the good category. Although high anthropogenic and tourism activities are presented at Coban Talun, some riparian vegetation can reduce water pollution and stabilize dissolved and suspended soils caused by human activities. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Banyuurip mangrove center (BMC), Kecamatan Ujung Pangkah Kabupaten Gresik selama bulan Juli-Agustus 2020. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis vegetasi mangrove, indeks nilai pentingnya, membandingkan kelimpahan kepiting bakau beserta struktur ukuranya dan analisis hubungannya dengan parameter lingkungan di habitat mangrove yang berbeda yaitu daerah muara dengan air payau dan tepi pantai dengan air asin. Metode  penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan sampling secara sistematis dengan menggunakan Belt Transeck. Hasil pengamatan mangrove didapatkan 12 spesies dari 6 familia dan hasil pengamatan kelimpahan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) didapatkan nilai 1,24 ind/m2 untuk stasiun 1 dan 1,32 ind/m2 untuk stasiun 2. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan rumus Indeks nilai penting (INP), kelimpahan kepiting bakau dan korelasi peorsen dengan bantuan softwere PAST 3.25 B. Parameter lingkungan yang diamati yaitu suhu, ph, salinitas dan jenis substrat.

Abstract

Ikan baronang Siganus canaliculatus merupakan jenis ikan demersal yang berasosiasi dengan padang lamun sebagai tempat asuhan dan pembesaran, mencari makan dan perlindungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis distribusi spasial S. canaliculatus pada habitat padang lamun berbeda. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Agustus 2018-Juli 2019 di perairan Teluk Ambon Dalam. Ikan dikoleksi menggunakan pukat pantai bersamaan dengan pengukuran parameter lingkungan. Analisis statistik ditampilkan secara deskriptif dalam bentuk tabel, histogram, dendrogram dan grafik biplot. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan sebanyak 1.050 ekor yang terdiri atas 598 jantan dan 452 betina. Parameter lingkungan secara umum medukung kehidupan S. canalicultus yang memiliki preferensi habitat berbeda berdasarkan stadia hidupnya, kelompok ukuran dewasa cenderung terdistribusi pada habitat lamun vegetasi tunggal, berbanding terbalik dengan ukuran pradewasa pada habitat padang lamun vegetasi campuran, sedangkan ukuran juvenil terdistribusi luas pada berbagai tipe habitat yang membuktikan fungsi padang lamun sebagai tempat asuhan dan pembesaran.

Abstract

Industri tahu biasanya tidak memiliki sistem pengelolaan limbah yang baik, maka dari itu limbah cair tahu dibuang ke sungai, yang mengandung berbagai polutan mengakibatkan perairan menjadi bau, tingkat kekeruhan yang tinggi, dan kerusakan ekologi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tanaman genjer (Limnocharis flava) dan teratai (Nymphaea alba) sebagai agen fitoremediatorefisiensi dan efektif dalam menurunkan kadar pencemaran limbah industri tahu. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) parameter meliputi : TDS, EC, suhu, TSS, DO, BOD, dan pH. Pengujian sampel dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Terpadu dan Halal center UNISMA, dan analisis data dengan uji ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa selama proses fitoremediasi tanaman genjer dan teratai efektif dan efisien dalam menyisihkan kadar pencemar yang ditandai dengan penurunan pada parameter suhu, pH, DO, BOD, dan TSS, dengan presentase nilai efiensi tertinggi pada BOD sebesar 77%., DO 32%, TSS 22%, EC 16%, dan suhu 4%. Nilai parameter kualitas air masih sesuai standar baku mutu air sehingga baik untuk digunakan sesuai dengan peruntukannya.

Sungai Jilu merupakan salah satu sungai di Kabupaten Malang – Jawa Timur yang melewati Desa Sekarpuro, Desa Cemorokandang, Desa Madyopuro, Desa Sawojajar, Desa Lesanpuro, dan Desa Kedungkandang. Sungai Jilu mempunyai aliran yang mengalir sepanjang tahun, dimana potensinya dimanfaatkan oleh warga sekitar untuk mandi, mencuci, mengairi sawah dan membuang limbah cair pabrik. Berbagai kegiatan tersebut dapat merusak lingkungan sehingga menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan, salah satunya adalah penurunan kualitas air sungai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi kualitas air sungai Jilu saat ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode purposive sampling yang dilakukan pada 5 stasiun dengan aktivitas antropogenik yang berbeda. Analisis data fisikokimia dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan membandingkannya dengan baku mutu air berdasarkan PP No. 22 Tahun 2021 tentang Penyelenggaraan Perlindungan dan Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup. kondisi kualitas air sungai Jilu berdasarkan parameter fisikokimia masih memenuhi baku mutu yang ditetapkan PP No. 22 Tahun 2021. Nilai TDS, pH, DO, dan BOD sehingga masih aman dan sesuai untuk berbagai kebutuhan.

Abstract

Optimal shrimp growth and harvest are greatly influenced by water quality as the dominant factor in influencing shrimp growth and survival. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between water quality and phytoplankton abundance. This research uses a survey method. Determination of stations and sampling points using the purposive sampling method. The composition of phytoplankton found in the waters of vaname shrimp ponds consists of 5 classes with a total of 9 genera, while when it is sunny the number is greater (12 genera). Bacillariophyceae dominate waters when it rains while Chlorophyceae dominate waters when it is sunny. The percentage composition of plankton species was as expected except for the Cyanophyceae group when it was sunny. The genus Rhizosolenia was found which is thought to be an indicator of eutrophication. The average value reported for phytoplankton from the three sampling stations during rain ranges between 3.06x106 - 5.48x106 ind/L. Not much different, the bright times obtained ranged from 4.03x106 - 6.61x106 ind/l. Abundance at all sampling points indicates eutrophic waters (>15000). Air quality in general is no different and meets quality standards except for nitrate and phosphate values. The temperature and brightness parameters have the highest level of relationship with plankton delivery compared to other parameters. The quality of coastal waters is positive except for pH and nitrate. The PCA results showed that there were differences in abundance between observation stations and between rainy and sunny conditions.

Abstract

Heavy metal pollution in marine waters can enter the food chain and negatively impact aquatic organisms' lives. One organism that is susceptible to exposure is the lamp shell (Lingula unguis), which has the ability to bioaccumulate heavy metals and is often consumed by the public. Considering the health risks posed by heavy metals such as lead (Pb), it is important to test the heavy metal content in clams sold in traditional markets. This study aims to determine the presence and levels of heavy metal Pb in the bodies of lamp shell sold at the Lekok Traditional Market, Pasuruan, East Java. Clam samples were taken purposively based on three sizes: small size ± 5 cm, medium size ± 7 cm and large size ± 9 cm. Pb content testing in lamp shell samples used Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) after the digestion process. The results showed that Pb metal content ranged from 5.11 - 9.26 ppm in large clams ranging from ± 9 cm, while no Lead (Pb) content was found in small and medium sized lantern clams. Compared with the maximum quality limit for lead (Pb) contamination for food safety for shellfish according to several national standards, samples of large lamp shell (Lingua unguis) sold at the Lekok traditional market in Pasuruan have exceeded the safe threshold for consumption. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid consuming large lantern clams.

Abstract

Management of small pelagic fish resources for sustainable use requires scientific information related to exploited fish resources, related to species composition, and community structure, including conservation status. This study aims to analyze the species composition, frequency of occurrence, community structure, and conservation status of small pelagic fish caught by fishermen. This study was conducted in April - May 2025 at the Fish Auction Place and Fishermen's Fish Market at Pondokdadap Beach Fishing Port, Sendangbiru, Malang Regency, East Java. The method used was direct observation with species identification and analysis of species composition, frequency of occurrence, and community structure. The results showed that the small pelagic fish group consisted of six species with a total of 5,332 individuals, dominated by Rastrelliger brachysoma and Decapterus macarellus, with the highest composition and frequency of occurrence. The community structure of small pelagic fish includes Diversity and Dominance indices which are in the low category with values of 1.20 and 0.38, respectively, and the Evenness index which is in the unstable category with a value of 0.67. The species composition and community structure of small pelagic fish fluctuate significantly daily and seasonally, linked to the dynamics of environmental parameters that influence fish biological activity, as well as the complexity of the food chain and fishing pressure. The varying catch sizes of individual small pelagic fish species indicate low gear selectivity. Therefore, regulations governing biologically appropriate fishing practices, supported by further research on reproductive biology and population dynamics, are essential to support sustainable utilization.

Abstract

Sharks are cartilaginous fish that play an important ecological role in marine ecosystems. However, their existence in the wild is very vulnerable to overfishing and habitat degradation. This study aims to identify species and analyze the structure of shark communities as bycatch of fishermen. This study was conducted from April to June 2025 at the Fishermen's Fish Market, Pondokdadap Beach Fishing Port Area, Sendangbiru, Malang, East Java, through observation of morphological characters and interviews as supporting data. Data analysis is descriptive in the form of Tables and Graphs. The results of fish identification include 17 individuals from 3 species representing 2 families from 2 orders, namely Chiloscyllium griseum, Squalus montalbani, and Squalus hemipinnis. All individuals caught are categorized as having entered the adult phase, so they are biologically suitable for capture. The diversity index (H') value is in the low category, the evenness index (E) is in the stressed category, and the dominance index (C) is in the high category. The low number of shark catches landed is due to the publicity of the shark trade ban by the Pondokdadap Coastal Fishing Port authorities and strict sanctions against violators. Despite this, some shark landings are still carried out illegally, reflecting low awareness among fishermen and fish traders, as well as high demand for sharks in the market. Efforts to conserve sharks from overfishing need to be continuously improved through intensive and widespread outreach to various stakeholders to build a shared understanding regarding shark conservation in the wild.
