Abstract

Abstract

Cervical cancer is still a problem in Indonesia. The global prevalence of cervical cancer is 50 per 100.000 people, while in Indonesia it is 87 per 100.000, making it the second place after breast cancer with a CFR of 56%. The high mortality rate occurs due to late screening, so that almost 70% of cancer incidents are known at an advanced stage. VIA screening as a prevention can be implemented at health center by women of childbearing age (30-50 years) who are married. The target of VIA screening implementation in the national cancer plan is 70% of WUS have done VIA screening by 2027. Medan Deli Public Health Center has provided VIA screening services, but the implementation target has not been achieved. This study aims to determine the factors related to VIA cervical cancer screening among women at Medan Deli Public Health Center. This type of research is analytic research with a cross sectional approach. The sample consisted of 85 respondents, selected through purposive sampling with a questionnaire. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed that knowledge (p<0,001), age of first sexual intercourse (p<0,001), access information (p<0,001), husband support (p<0,001), and health worker support (p<0,001) were related. While the variables of marriage history (p=0,661), family history (p=1.000), and distance (p=1.000) were not related. Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a non-communicable disease characterized by a gradual and irreversible decline in kidney function. According to WHO data, 843.6 million people worldwide were affected by CKD in 2021. In Indonesia, the prevalence of CKD has increased significantly, with 697.5 million cases and 1.2 million related deaths reported in 2019, and over 843.6 million cases in 2021. At Haji Hospital Medan, 4,012 CKD cases were recorded in 2024, with the majority of patients falling within the productive age group. This trend poses a threat to individuals’ quality of life and productivity within society. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, practices, and medical history with the incidence of CKD among patients aged 18–45 years at Haji Hospital Medan in 2025. A cross-sectional study design was employed, involving a total of 118 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through structured interviews using a validated questionnaire. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test revealed significant associations between knowledge (p = 0.010), attitudes (p = 0.003), practices (p = 0.015), and medical history (p = 0.010) with the incidence of CKD. Insufficient knowledge about CKD risk factors and prevention, negative attitudes toward healthy lifestyles, non-compliance with medical recommendations, and a history of illness contribute to the rising incidence of CKD in the productive age group. These findings highlight the need to enhance promotive and preventive health efforts, particularly targeting the productive age population, to raise awareness of the importance of CKD prevention and early detection.

Abstract

Rabies is a zoonotic acute infectious disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans through the bite of a rabies-positive dog. Rabies is caused by a Lyssavirus virus, which belongs to the family Rhabdoviridae, and is transmitted through the bite of a rabies-positive animal such as a dog. The disease is often found in dogs, cats, and monkeys. In humans, rabies is transmitted through dog bites, and deaths from rabies occur every year with a case fatality rate of 100 per cent. According to WHO, rabies cases annually reach 60,000 people worldwide, with 95 per cent of cases occurring in Africa and Asia. The incidence rate of rabies is 40 per cent, with most cases occurring in children. Education methods were quasi-experimental to increase children’s knowledge of rabies prevention and control in community service, especially junior high school students and the community. There were 40 respondents involved in this education program, beginning with a pretest. The intervention was conducted in several sessions for in-depth interaction and better understanding. The intervention increased the knowledge of students in the post-test. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical methods. Observation and documentation were used to strengthen the pre-and post-test findings and observe the level of participation of junior high school children, measured by attendance and engagement. The results showed that the education program could empower junior high school students, increase their knowledge, and encourage active contributions in preventing rabies.
