Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah in achieving the vision of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahamtullah Tulungagung and to determine the implementation of the synthesis between Islamic boarding school education and Islamic university in the education system. This research employed a qualitative approach. The setting was at Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The methods for collecting data were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were validated by data triangulation. Meanwhile, the data analysis used an interactive model employing collection, reduction, display, and verification. The results of the study show that (1) Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah takes a strategic role in achieving the vision of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung through cultural education as a support for academic education, namely Islamic boarding school education, (2) the implementation of the synthesis of Islamic boarding school and Islamic University at Ma’had al-Jāmi’ah of UIN Tulungagung according to Parsons cannot be separated from four functions – Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency as requirements in its sustainability. The theoretical contribution that is built is that the existence of Ma’had al-Jāmi’ah can run and develop on top of the system that is formed.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan menilai tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan penilaian angka kredit guru agama di sekolah menengah atas di provinsi DIY dan DKI Jakarta, serta menentukan perbaikan yang perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas layanan tersebut. Menggunakan model SERVQUAL, penelitian ini menerapkan skala multi-item untuk mengukur ekspektasi dan persepsi dari penerima layanan, serta selisih antara keduanya. Lima aspek utama kualitas layanan dievaluasi, yaitu keandalan, kesiapan merespons, jaminan, empati, dan bentuk nyata, dengan Analisis Pentingnya Kinerja (IPA). Hasil menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan rata-rata 2,40 di DIY dan 3,29 di DKI Jakarta, dengan harapan masing-masing 2,69 dan 3,81. Beberapa atribut dalam kuadran tertentu ditemukan memerlukan perbaikan segera. Studi ini menekankan perlunya peningkatan berkesinambungan pada atribut yang kesesuaiannya masih di bawah 100%, yang mencerminkan adanya kekurangan dalam penyediaan layanan. Penelitian lebih lanjut dapat melihat cakupan yang lebih luas atau menggunakan metodologi yang berbeda untuk analisis yang lebih mendalam. Atribut yang teridentifikasi mempengaruhi kepuasan pelanggan dan memerlukan perbaikan segera agar sesuai dengan harapan pelanggan. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi panduan dalam penyusunan kebijakan oleh Kementerian Agama untuk memperbaiki kualitas penilaian layanan bagi guru agama sekolah menengah atas di daerah yang bersangkutan.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and map the development of the variants of Islamic Educational Institutions in Yogyakarta and analyze the map of the ideological affiliation of Islamic educational institutions. This type of research is field research. Data collection techniques are carried out using interviews, observation, and documentation. The data validity test used the source triangulation technique. The process of data analysis is data reduction, transcription, coding, grouping, comparing and contrasting, interpreting, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Educational Institutions in Indonesia has developed and changed very rapidly. These changes and developments influence the variants and ideology of Islamic Educational Institutions in Yogyakarta. The shift in the variants of Islamic Educational Institutions in Yogyakarta can be mapped into four variants, i.e., the Religious Movement Variant, the Political Dakwah Variant, the Business Variant, and the Corporate Variant. Further, the ideological affiliations of Islamic educational institutions in Yogyakarta can be mapped into four, Compromising Ideology, Aswaja-Traditionalist, Modernist-Reformist, and Revivalist.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to reveal bibliometric data related to the study of Islamic education. Design/methods/approach – This study uses a bibliometric analysis method to examine publishing trends and emerging themes surrounding the study of Islamic education. The study is limited to the types of documents, articles, proceedings, reviews, and book chapters. This study uses the Scopus database, and the data was collected on July 1, 2021. The targeted data was retrieved by applying the search keywords: “Islamic Education” OR “Madrasah” OR “Islamic School.” Findings – The results of this study reveal that there has been an increase in the study of Islamic Education in Scopus-indexed journals over the last five years, with most of them written by Indonesian scientists. However, most articles published in the two journals are not specific to the study of Islamic education or religious studies. Research implications/limitations – This study is limited to Islamic education research in the Scopus database. This study only looks at bibliometric data analysis. Further studies based on the systematic literature review method can investigate the findings. Islamic education researchers can use the results of this study to develop future research topics. Practical implications – This study sheds light on the evolution of Islamic education research. The results of this study have implications for a more focused direction of Islamic education research through information science tools.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the impact of Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah in enhancing religiosity and building a religious culture at the Universitas Islam Negeri Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. It highlights the necessity for Islamic higher education institutions to balance academic excellence with the development of religious and moral values amidst the challenges of globalization, westernization, and radicalization. Design/methods/approach – This research employs an exploratory descriptive-qualitative design, focusing on Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Data were collected through field research, including observations, in-depth interviews with students, lecturers, and administrative staff, as well as document analysis. Stark and Glock’s five dimensions of religiosity—belief, practice, knowledge, experience, and consequences—served as the analytical framework. Findings – The study found that Ma'had al-Jāmi'ah significantly enhances students' religious knowledge and practices, promoting a balanced integration of Islamic values and academic skills. This institution successfully fosters a religious culture through prescriptive measures and structured learning processes. However, challenges remain due to the diverse backgrounds and varying levels of religious understanding among students. Research implications – The findings suggest that Islamic higher education institutions must integrate religious education with the academic curriculum to foster holistic student development. Regular assessment and adaptation of religious education programs are necessary to maintain their relevance and effectiveness. These findings can guide policymakers and educators in developing comprehensive educational strategies that address contemporary challenges while upholding Islamic values.

Abstract

Fenomena gerakan dakwah Majelis Tafsir Al-Qur’an (MTA) yang tidak akomodatif terhadap tradisi, budaya, dan kearifan lokal menimbulkan berbagai persoalan sosial di masyarakat. Hal ini disebabkan oleh ideologi gerakan pemurnian agama yang MTA lakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan faham dan ekspresi keagamaan yang dikembangkan oleh MTA, Strategi MTA dalam memperjuangkan faham dan ekspresi keagamaannya, dan dampak sosial keagamaan yang muncul di masyarakat akibat dari faham, dan ekspresi keagamaan MTA. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekspresi dan faham Keagamaan Majelis Tafsir Al-Qur’an (MTA) di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta adalah eksklusif. Sedangkan faham keagamaan MTA masuk dalam katagori gerakan Islam puritan yang diidentikkan sebagai gerakan salafi. Strategi MTA dalam memperjuangkan faham dan ekspresi keagamaan di DIY dilakukan dengan tiga cara pertama, memperkuat hubungan, komunikasi, jaringan dan dukungan dengan kelompok (jamaah) yang seideologis dengan ajaran MTA, kedua, menguasai kelompok-kelompok pengajian (majelis ta’lim) dan ketiga, menguasi pengelolaan masjid dengan mendatangkan para penceramah, khatib, dan berbagai kegiatan-kegiatan keagamaan dari pendakwah MTA. Implikasi faham, ekspresi keagamaan dan strategi dakwah MTA di DIY adalah pertama menguatnya posisi orang Muhammadiyah dalam menghegemoni Masjid melalui dakwah-dakwah MTA. Kedua, peminggiran jamaah dalam berbagai aktivitas keagamaan, dan Ketiga, migrasi jamaah ke aktifitas keagamaan lain yang memiliki keyakinan islam budaya yang sama. The phenomenon of da’wah movement of Majelis Tafsir Al-Quran (MTA) which does not accommodate the traditions, culture, and local wisdom raises many social problems in the community. This is caused by the ideology of religious purification movement that has been conducted by MTA. This study aimed to describe the ideology and religious expression developed by the MTA, MTA strategy in fighting the schools and religious expression, religious and social impacts that arise in society as a result of the schools, and religious expression MTA. These results indicate that the expression and Religious ideology of Majelis Tafsir Al-Quran (MTA) in Yogyakarta is exclusive. While the MTA religious schools included in the category of puritanical Islamic movement that is identified as the Salafi movement. MTA strategy in the fight for religious expression in the schools and Special Province of Yogyakarta done in three ways, first, strengthen relationships, communication, networking and support groups (pilgrims) who have similar ideology with the teachings of the MTA, second, master study groups (informal gatherings) and third , in charge of the management of the mosque by bringing in speakers, preachers, and various religious activities of preachers MTA. Implications ideology, religious expression and propaganda strategy MTA in the province is the first strengthening the hegemonic position of the Muhammadiyah Mosque through propaganda-propaganda MTA. Second, the exclusion of pilgrims in various religious activities, and Third, pilgrims migration to other religious activities that have the same culture of Islamic beliefs.Keywords : Majelis Tafsir Alquran (MTA), relegious ideologization, puritan movement, and hegemony.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in ensuring a nation's continuity, with Islamic education being particularly significant as it derives knowledge from the Qur'an and Hadith, aiming for success in both worldly life and the afterlife. Following Indonesia's reform era, diverse Islamic religious education institutions emerged, each with distinct ideological backgrounds. This research aims to: 1) Analyze the theoretical foundations and application of Islamic values in education; 2) Describe the theoretical foundations of social networks and organizations; 3) Construct the ideological theory of education and its diverse manifestations; 4) Analyze the role of ideological movements in shaping Islamic education and their impacts. Using a qualitative method, the study focuses on the Islamic Education institutions of the Majelis At-Turots Al-Islamy Foundation, specifically Pondok Pesantren Islamic Centre Bin Baz (ICBB) Yogyakarta. Data analysis involves collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Islamic education, rooted in lifelong learning from the Qur'an and Hadith, is driven by juridical and ideological foundations, encompassing Aqidah, Ibadah, and Moral/Akhlak values. Ideological movements in post-reform Indonesia are categorized into Modernist, Traditionalist-Conservative, Transformist, and Fundamentalist Islam.

Abstract

AbstractSince the 1980’s Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia have been varied in types. At first  mainstream  Islamic  educational  institutions included school, madrasah and Islamic schools but in the last two decades new model of variant have been coming out in the forms of Integrated Islamic School (SIT), Islamic School with International Perspective (SIBI), International Islamic School (Intis School), and others with numerous variants and affiliates.  This  becomes  an  interesting  phenomenon and at the same time constitutes a challenge and competitor for mainstream Islamic institutions such as madrasahs. This article describes the development of variants and new trend of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and offers strategies and innovation in the development of madrasah in the perspective of educational service marketing management through the strategy of rethinking madrasah marketing strategy. Abstrak Sejak tahun 1980-an lembaga pendidikan Islam di Indonesia mengalami perkembangan variasi. Pada mulanya mainstream lembaga pendidikan Islam adalah sekolah, madrasah dan sekolah Islam. Maka pada dua dekade terakhir ini Muncul varian baru model Pendidikan Islam berbentuk Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT), Sekolah Islam Berwawasan Internasional (SIBI), International Islamic School (Intis School), dan lain-lain dengan berbagai  varian  dan  afiliasinya.  Hal  ini  menjadi fenomena menarik dan sekaligus menjadi tantangan dan kompetitor bagi lembaga pendidikan Islam mainstream seperti madrasah. Artikel ini mendeskripsikan perkembangan varian dan trend baru lembaga pendidikan Islam di Indonesia dan menawarkan strategi dan inovasi pengembangan madrasah dalam perspektif manajemen pemasaran jasa pendidikan melalui strategi rethingking marketing madrasah.

Abstract

AbstractSchool principal is the important key in leading Islamic educational institutions to improve and develop to be chosen by Islamic middle-class society as a place to educate their children. This research aimed to observe the leadership model of Islamic Senior High School Principal in Yogyakarta in improving, developing, and preserving the quality of Islamic educational institutions to be chosen by Islamic middle-class society in Yogyakarta. The results in this research explained that the leadership model in Islamic Senior High School is transformational leadership. This leadership model is established through two abilities possessed. First ability is knowledgeable, which means that a school principal is knowledgeable about the organizational theories, the organizational culture, the strategic management, the leadership, and other managerial knowledges.  The wider knowledge and perspective a school principal has, the more open, flexible, inclusive, and open-minded the school principal is, to be able to manage a new knowledge. Second ability is experience, which is something that someone has encountered, undergone, endured, and borne. Experience is highly related with the ability and the will to continuously learn. The more opportunity to learn, the more experience will be achieved. The combination of knowledge and experience will establish a transformational leadership. Abstrak Kepala sekolah menjadi faktor kunci dalam membawa peningkatan dan perkembangan lembaga pendidikan Islam, sehiangga menjadi pilihan masyarakat kelas menengah Muslim untuk menyekolahkan pura putrinya. Penelitian bertujuan melihat bagaimana model kepemimpinan kepala sekolah kelas menengah muslim Yogyakarta dalam upaya meningkatkan, mengembangkan dan menjaga mutu lembaga pendidikan Islam sehingga menjadi sekolah pilihan masyarakat kelas menengah muslim di Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model kepemimpinan sekolah kelas menengah muslim adalah kepemimpinan transformasional. Model kepemimpinan ini terbentuk melalui dua kemampuan yang dimiliki yaitu, pertama, penguasaan pengetahuan (knowledge) seperti teori-teori organisasi, budaya organisasi, manajemen strategic, kepemimpinan, dan pengatahuan managerial lainnya. Semakin luas pengetahuan dan wawasan seseorang pemimpin, maka semakin terbuka, fleksibel, inklusif, mudah menerima masukan (open minded), dan mampu mengolahnya menjadi pengetahuan baru. Kedua adalah pengalamannya. Pengalaman adalah sesuatu yang pernah dialami, dijalani, dirasakan, ditanggung. Pengalaman sangat berhubungan dengan kemampuan dan kesediaan untuk terus belajar. Semakin banyak belajar, maka semakin banyak pula pengalaman yang akan didapat. Penggabungan antara pengetahuan dan pengelaman inilah yang akan membentuk kepemimpinan transformasional.

Abstract

This article is aimed to figure out the integrative holistic learning process of early childhood which consist of implementation of child health service program, education, child welfare protection, nad child care. The implementation of learning is analyzed by cashflow quadrant approach to see how far the achievement from institute of education for early childhood. This kind of research is qualitative and implemented in RA Al Muttaqin Tasikmalaya. The process of collecting data is using observation, interview and documentation. The data are analyzed using Matthew B Millers Interactive Analyzed Model. The result of this research shows that there is huge support from the organizers of RA Al Muttaqin and aslo some parties who cooperate well toward the instituation. The conclusion of this research is the integrative holistic learning process will run well when the management of financial in the instituation will reach the goal since those factors will bring related to the smoothness of partnering with several parties outside the institution that makes the implementation of services - holistic programs integratif well.
