Abstract

Red onions (shallots) are an important commodity in the Indonesian economy, both in terms of contribution to national income and as a commodity for controlling the price of goods. Red onion farming is usually cultivated conventionally in paddy fields requiring intensive labor. Recently, several youths in a village in Jember, East Java, have been cultivating red onion hydroponically for the last three years. The business has good prospects but has problems in its development. This study aims to map the strengths and obstacles faced and to determine the right strategy. The analytical method used is descriptive with a field force analysis approach. The analysis results show that the strength factors possessed include experience, both farming experience and market experience, product diversification capabilities, and support in the form of networking with related agencies. While the inhibiting variables include limited market access, limited access to funding, and limited skilled resources. Based on the FFA analysis, it is known that the most important weight is the increase in cultivation skills and the ability to diversify products. The results of this study recommend that startup actors need to be vigilant in undergoing the initial phase of business implementation, which has many obstacles and needs to have a strategy by increasing post-harvest processing skills. Abstract

The use of the Osing language in this area is still quite strong, and the pronunciation could be more precise. Even so, the people of this village still apply politeness in language when interacting with each other. This study aimed to find out the forms and language politeness strategies used by the Osing community in Macan Putih Village. This research method uses a qualitative research method with three stages: the stage of providing data, the stage of data analysis, and the stage of providing the results of data analysis. The research data is in utterances by speech participants associated with a context. The study results show that most of the Osing people in Macan Putih Village are polite in speaking, although some still violate it. The form of politeness in the language of the Osing community is based on markers of politeness verbally through speech and nonverbally through accompanying body gestures, as well as the politeness scale. There are two strategies namely positive politeness strategies such as (1) paying attention, (2) exaggerating in giving comments or praise, (3) using markers as members of the same group, (4) using jokes, and (5) giving questions or asking for reasons. The second strategy is the negative politeness strategy, namely (1) using indirect speech, (2) being pessimistic, and (3) minimizing coercion/pressure.

Abstract

komunikasi merupakan interaksi sosial yang mana terjadi proses memberi dan menerima informasi. Komunikasi Proses akan berjalan dengan baik jika pengirim dan penerima saling memahami tentang pesan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui struktur sosial dan pola komunikasi santri Darussalam Blokagung Banyuwangi serta untuk mengetahui hambatan yang di alami santri Ponpes dalam menerapkan pola komunikasi dalam struktur sosial di Ponpes Darussalam Blokagung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan data yang dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa interaksi verbal yang muncul dalam pola komunikasi di Ponpes Darussalam berdasarkan status sosial dan peran yang terjadi pada struktur sosial. Interaksi simbolik yang terjadi di Ponpes Darussalam berupa sikap-sikap termasuk, ekspresi wajah dan tingkah lagu santri ketika berhadapan atau melakukan komunikasi secara tidak langsung terhadap pengasuh Ponpes Darussalam. Pola komunikasi yang terjadi di dalam interaksi sosial atau komunitas sosial di Ponpes Darussalam bisa dikategorikan dengan pola komunikasi jenis Y dimana pola tersebut membentuk huruf Y yang artinya status sosial yang paling tinggi di puncak oleh pengasuh, putra-putri pengasuh, pengurus, ustaz, dan santri. Hambatan yang dialami santri adalah bagaimana membuat sebuah kalimat yang benar terhadap bahasa Jawa kromo inggil, khususnya terhadap santri yang mempunyai latar belakang bahasa Melayu atau bahasa Bugis yang berasal dari luar Jawa.

Abstract

Desa Sukosari Kidul, Kecamatan Sumberwringin, Kabupaten Bondowoso memiliki potensi alam, kesenian, dan kuliner yang dapat saling terkait satu dengan lainnya menjadi konsep wisata yang sangat menarik. Hal ini terbukti tahun 2022 Desa Wisata Tirta Agung desa Sukosari Kidul menjadi juara 2 kategori Desa Wisata Rintisan ADWI 2022. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendukung terciptanya desa budaya di Desa Sukosari Kidul dengan mengangkat potensi kuliner. Pelaksanaan program pengandian ini berkolaborasi dengan POKDARWIS, UMKM dan Masyarakat Desa Sukosari Kidul yang bergerak dibidang kuliner dan kesenian. Realisasi pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini dengan mengadakan FGD untuk pemetaan permasalahan, Pendampingan dalam penyusunan desain kegiatan, Realisasi kegiatan, dan evaluasi. Adapun hasil yang dicapai yaitu terlaksanakannya launching pasar lereng raung etalase produk kuliner Desa Sukosari Kidul.

Abstract

The Benteng Chinese ethnic community in Desa Lebak Wangi, Tangerang uses Benteng Chinese dialect of Indonesian which is mixed with elements of Hokkian dialect of Chinese, English, Sundanese, and Betawi language. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and factors behind the occurrence of code mixing in daily communication in the speech of Benteng Chinese ethnic community in Desa Lebak Wangi, Tangerang. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The results obtained from the data analysis show that the code mix in this study consists of two forms, namely: (1) code mix in the form of words; and (2) code mix in the form of phrases. Code mix in the form of words includes: (1) basic words; (2) affixed words; and (2) repeated words. The factors behind the code mix consist of three factors, namely: (1) role identification factor; (2) variety identification factor; and (3) desire to explain/interpret factor. Among the four code-mix entries in this study, Sundanese was the most common. The inclusion of Hokkian dialect of Chinese occurs when talking about family relationships, numerals, religious celebrations, and rituals. The inclusion of Sundanese elements occurs when communicating with family and neighbors to describe an activity, indicate a condition, and mention affirming affixes. The inclusion of Betawi language elements occurs when communicating with family and neighbors to emphasize or show something with high intonation. The inclusion of English elements occurs when young people mention the use of words on the internet or social media.

Abstract

Gober is one of the flagship programs on Prosalina FM that is highly favored by the public and has been running for over 20 years. The research aim to describe the communication patterns between the announcer and callers on the Gober program. The communication patterns under study include verbal language, the structure of message content, as well as the direction and intensity of interactions among participants. This research falls under the study of communication ethnography using a qualitative descriptive method. Data is collected by downloading from YouTube and then continued using non-participatory observation methods. The data analysis stage uses communication ethnography methods and analyzes the eight components of speech proposed by Hymes. The results of this study indicate that the communication patterns established on the Gober program differ when responding to new callers and regular callers. The communication pattern between the announcer and new callers is formal, predominantly using the Indonesian language, and of short duration. This is because the main goal of a new caller is to introduce themselves to fellow Gober listeners and to request a song. Meanwhile, the communication pattern between the announcer and regular callers is relaxed, full of familiarity, often using code-switching and mixing codes, and has a longer duration. This is because the main goal of a regular caller is simply to chat or engage in small talk in the morning with the announcer,Gober merupakan salah satu program acara unggulan di Prosalina FM yang banyak diminati oleh masyarakat dan telah berjalan selama lebih dari 20 tahun. Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan pola komunikasi penyiar dan penelepon pada acara Gober. Pola komunikasi yang dikaji berupa bahasa verbal, struktur materi pesan, arah dan intensitas interaksi di antara partisipan, dan latar sosial budaya. Penelitian ini termasuk kajian etnografi komunikasi dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan diunduh dari Youtube kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan metode observasi nonpartisipasi. Tahap analisis data menggunakan metode etnografi komunikasi dan analisis delapan komponen tutur yang dikemukakan Hymes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola komunikasi yang dijalin pada acara Gober memiliki perbedaan saat merespons penelepon baru dan penelepon tetap. Pola komunikasi penyiar dan penelepon baru bersifat formal, dominan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia, dan berdurasi singkat. Hal itu karena tujuan utama seorang penelepon baru adalah untuk mengenalkan diri kepada sesama pendengar Gober dan untuk memesan lagu. Sementara, pola komunikasi penyiar dan penelepon tetap bersifat santai, penuh keakraban, sering menggunakan alih kode dan campur kode, dan berdurasi lebih lama. Hal itu terjadikarena tujuan utama seorang penelepon tetap adalah untuk sekadar mengobrol atau basa-basi di pagi hari dengan penyiar.

Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan hasil penelitian antropologi seni yang membahas perihal pasemon sebagai bahasa kritik dalam seni pertunjukan masyarakat Madura. Secara komprehensif menelaah tentang klasifikasi model pasemon sebagai bahasa kritik dalam seni pertunjukan masyarakat Madura ditinjau secara semiotik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pasemon dalam seni pertunjukan terbagi atas 3 model yakni Model Papareghân/paparèkan; Model sindiran langsung; dan Model penokohan; Model Paparèkan merupakan model kritik yang disampaikan melalui bentuk pantun tradisional berbahasa Madura baik secara langsung maupun melalui kèjhungan(nyanyian). Paparèkan digunakan untuk mengkritik lawan main dalam pertunjukan, maupun untuk mengkritik fenomena sosial masyarakat. Model sindiran langsung, merupakan moda kritik yang diucapkan secara langung dengan kalimat yang lugas oleh aktor/pelawak di atas panggung. Umumnya sindiran diucapkan dengan gaya humor. Sindiran langsung digunakan untuk mengkritik penonton, tuan rumah, situasi sosial maupun perilaku masyarakat hari ini. Model penokohan, adalah moda kritik

Abstract

Folk songs are not merely a form of entertainment but also serve as a medium to understand the local wisdom embedded within a community. This study aims to uncover the local wisdom of Madura through the folk songs Pajjhâr Lagghu and Tondu' Majhâng. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnolinguistic approach. The data consists of words, phrases, and clauses found in the two songs. Data sources include internet sites, YouTube, and textbooks. Data collection was conducted by downloading song videos from YouTube and reviewing song lyrics from websites and books. The collected data were analyzed using an extra lingual matching method. The findings reveal that the local wisdom in Pajjhâr Lagghu encompasses (a) values such as hope, high optimism, hard work, perseverance, resilience, independence, fighting spirit, courage, responsibility, dedication, and strong commitment; (b) knowledge and skills in agrarian enterprises; and (c) patriotism, including the willingness to sacrifice everything for the prosperity and glory of the homeland. Meanwhile, the local wisdom in Tondu' Majhâng includes (a) values such as courage, resilience, perseverance, hard work, togetherness, solidarity, hope, supportiveness, gratitude, and a strong work ethic; and (b) knowledge and skills related to maritime sciences.

Abstract

Mount Semeru as one of the highest mountains on the Java island has significant volcanic activity to date. The eruption of this volcano had a considerable impact on the surrounding area, including Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency. The impact felt by the community is not only physical damage but also trauma. Therefore, a disaster awareness culture needs to be built and strengthened early in order to reduce the impact caused when a disaster occurs. The Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of the University of Jember in collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang Regency carried out service activities for elementary school students and teachers in Sumberwuluh Village with the aim of strengthening the culture of disaster awareness. This activity has been attended by students and teachers from SDN Sumberwuluh 1, SDN Sumberwuluh 2, SDN Sumberwuluh 3, SDN Sumberwuluh 4, SDN Sumberwuluh 5 and MI Miftahul Ulum. This is carried out through two stages, socialization about the importance of disaster preparedness and direct practice of disaster preparedness consisting of water boat evacuation, webbing and trauma healing. This program has succeeded in increasing disaster preparedness awareness through disaster education from an early age. In addition, this activity also succeeded in improving knowledge and practical skills in disaster preparedness by 88% and building a better mentality and readiness in dealing with emergency situations.

Abstract

The communication system in pesantren tends to be figurative. Kyai and his family often use figurative patterns to convey criticism and praise to Santri. This study describes the form, type, and function of criticism and praise of kyai and his family to santri. The theory used to explore criticism and praise is a descriptive and socio-pragmatic theory with the ethnographic method of communication. This research is qualitative. The method used in data collection is the participant observation method. The researchers observed conversations between kyai and their families with the santri, especially those involving criticism and praise. We conducted interviews with koai, pesantren families, and santri equipped with recording and note-taking techniques. The collected data was then reduced and classified based on categories. Subsequently, we transcribed the data in orthographic form and translated it into Indonesian. The results showed that there were two categories of speech in the pesantren environment, namely criticism, and praise; (1) The form of criticism of kyai and his family to santri are reprimands, command, satire, advice, and praise; (2) The forms of praise are motivation, praise, and reprimand. In the motivation and praise, speakers always use subtle, figurative, and direct sentences, while in the reprimand, speakers always praise the interlocutor by criticizing a third person.
