Abstract

Research has been carried out on the effect of adding isopropyl alcohol (IPA) on the formation of nano titania. This study aims to determine the effect of adding IPA on the phase formation and particle size of TiO2. In this study, nano titania was synthesized by hydrothermal method at a temperature of 250oC with a variety of different IPA additions, namely 0.2 ml, 0.4 ml, 0.6 ml, and 0.8 ml. Samples were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The XRD characterization results showed that the diffraction peaks were following the standard database and showed anatase, rutile, and brookite phases. The particle size is calculated from the FWHM value using the Scherrer equation, which is in the 10-13 nm range for the anatase phase and the rutile phase in the 18-20 nm range. The results of SEM characterization in the 04IPA sample showed that the morphology was not perfectly round and the grain size was not uniform.

Abstract

Nano-ZnO biosynthesis has been carried out using Chaya leaves with the addition of 0.7M NaOH. The aim is to determine the results of nano-ZnO synthesis regarding the formation of functional groups, phase structure, morphology, band gap energy, and its potential as an antibacterial. The synthesis process was carried out in three stages, namely, extraction of Japanese papaya leaves, synthesis of nano-ZnO, and characterization using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and UV-Diffuse Reflectance (UV-DRS). Nano-ZnO samples were applied in antibacterial tests. The results of FTIR analysis show the formation of ZnO functional groups at wave numbers 599-509 cm-1 with the main functional groups involved being O-H, C=O, N-H, and C-N. The results of the XRD analysis showed that the phases formed in the sample were zinc oxide, zinc phosphate, zinc iron oxide and zinc chlorate hydrate. Factors that influence the formation of other phases are because Japanese papaya leaves contain phosphorus and iron, the ZnO phase formed has a wurtzite structure. The results of UV-DRS analysis show that the band gap energy is close to the standard of 3.24 eV with an absorbance value of 362 nm. TEM results show that the particle morphology experiences agglomeration due to the presence of other compounds. The antibacterial activity of Nano-ZnO with a NaOH concentration of 0.7 M resulted in an average zone of inhibition of bacterial growth in E.coli of 0.21 mm.

Abstract

Perancangan dan pembuatan mesin CNC Laser 4 Axis menggunakan motor stepper tipe nema 23 terintegrasi Mach3 USB untuk aplikasi mesin cutting otomatis telah dilakukan. Alat ini merupakan suatu alat laboratorium bidang manufaktur yang digunakan untuk memotong material berbahan akrilik secara otomatis dengan dimensi pemotongan mencapai 1000 mm x 2000 mm. Alat ini memiliki mata potong berupa laser dioda ukuran 40 watt yang mampu memotong lembaran akrilik dengan ketebalan 3 mm. Alat ini dikontrol menggunakan kontroler Mach3 board dan dikomunikasikan dengan software Mach3 menggunakan perintah berupa G-code. Alat ini mampu memotong lembaran akrilik ketebalan 3 mm dengan kecepatan maksimum 55 mm/menit. Untuk hasil pemotongan optimal, proses pemotongan akrilik dilakukan pada jarak laser terhadap akrilik yaitu sejauh 15 mm. Alat ini memiliki kesalahan relatif yaitu 0,27% dan deviasi sebesar 0,25 mm. Berdasarkan spesifikasi tersebut, mesin CNC Laser ini dapat diaplikasikan untuk mesin cutting otomatis untuk material berbahan dasar akrilik.

Abstract

Telah dibuat komposit serat daun pandan duri (pandanus tectorius) dengan poliester sebagai matriks menggunakan metode perendaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi suhu terhadap kekuatan tarik, morfologi dan mikrostruktur serta distribusi serat komposit serat daun pandan duri. Dalam penelitian ini variasi suhu yang digunakan yaitu 35, 40, 45 °C serta tanpa pemanasan. Hasil pengujian tarik menunjukkan bahwa suhu pemanasan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kekuatan tarik komposit serat. Kekuatan tarik tertinggi terjadi pada komposit dengan variasi suhu pemanasan 35 °C sebesar 32.92 MPa, diikuti oleh variasi suhu pemanasan 40 °C sebesar 21.84 MPa, lalu pada variasi tanpa suhu pemanasan sebesar 20 MPa, serta pada variasi suhu pemanasan 45 °C sebesar 2.45 MPa. Analisis morfologi dan mikrostruktur komposit serat menggunakan mikroskop optik dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) menunjukkan bahwa distribusi serat cukup merata dengan baik di dalam matriks poliester namun cenderung terkonsentrasi pada area tertentu serta terdapat beberapa void dan retakan di sekitar serat yang dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan mekanik material. Berdasarkan analisis Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) menunjukkan bahwa elemen yang paling dominan pada komposit serat adalah karbon (C) dan juga oksigen (O). namun terdapat beberapa elemen lain yang seperti alumunium (Al), silika (Si), kalsium (Ca), natrium (Na) dan juga magnesium (Mg) yang bisa berasal dari kandungan alami serat ataupun pengotor. Suhu pemanasan 35 °C dianggap sebagai kondisi terbaik untuk menghasilkan komposit dengan kekuatan mekanik yang baik. Secara ilmiah, temuan ini memberikan dasar pemilihan kondisi pemanasan serat yang optimal untuk meningkatkan kualitas ikatan serat–matriks dan meminimalkan cacat mikro (void/retakan) pada komposit serat alam, sehingga relevan sebagai rujukan pengembangan komposit ramah lingkungan dengan performa mekanik yang lebih stabil.   Kata kunci: komposit serat alam, resin poliester, uji tarik, analisis mikrostruktur.

Abstract

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon was observed using the Kretschmann configuration with a four-layer structure: prism/Au Thin Film/ Fe3O4/Ag/air, with Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposite mass variation of 0.025; 0.05; 0.075; and 0.1 gram. Fe3O4 which was then added with 100 mM Ag to become Fe3O4/Ag 100 mM nanocomposite was synthesized using green synthesis method, and then characterized by XRD and UV-Vis. XRD results showed the addition of Ag to Fe3O4 does not change the crystal structure of Fe3O4 directly, but causes an increase in crystallite size. UV-Vis results showed the absorbance spectrum shifted to longer wavelengths. Deposition of Au thin layer on the prism side using vacuum evaporator. Fe3O4/Ag was deposited on the Au thin film using spray method. For the initial configuration of  prism/Au Thin Film/air, the SPR angle (θSPR) of 45.67º was obtain with a minimum reflectance (Rmin) of 0.4208. After the addition of Fe3O4/Ag with each mass, the SPR angle (θSPR) shifted to 45.98º; 46.38º; 46.75º; and 46.77º with a minimum reflectance (Rmin) of 0.5645; 0.6977; 0.7239; and 0.7663. The resulting angular shifts were 0.31º; 0.71º; 1.08º; and 1.11º. The results show that the addition of Fe3O4/Ag to the Au thin layer causes a shift in the SPR angle towards a larger incident angle, as well as increasing the minimum reflectance value. The greater the mass of nanocomposite added, the greater the SPR angle shift that occurs.     Keywords: Fe3O4/Ag nanocomposite, green synthesis, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), UV-Vis, XRD.

Abstract

ABSTRACTMaterial physics is an important branch of science that studies the properties and applications of various materials from atomic level as the foundation for modern technological development. The importance of this field encouraged the implementation of a socialization activity aimed at improving students’ understanding of the basic concepts and applications of material physics. The activity was attended by 22 participants and consisted of three stages: an initial survey, socialization using the one group pretest–posttest design through interactive and contextual methods, and data evaluation. The average pretest score of 2.22 increased to 3.45 in the posttest, indicating an improvement based on the Likert scale. These results show that the socialization activity contributed positively to enhancing participants’ understanding and interest in the concepts and applications of material physics. The interactive approach used in the socialization proved effective in strengthening participants’ motivation and insight into this field.Keywords: Physics, material, educationABSTRAKFisika material merupakan cabang ilmu penting yang mempelajari sifat dan aplikasi berbagai material dari tingkat atomik sebagai dasar pengembangan teknologi modern. Pentingnya bidang ini mendorong dilaksanakannya kegiatan sosialisasi yang bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep dasar dan penerapan fisika material. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 22 peserta dengan tiga tahap: survei awal, sosialisasi menggunakan metode one group pretest–posttest design secara interaktif dan kontekstual, serta evaluasi hasil. Nilai rata-rata pretest 2,22 meningkat menjadi 3,45 pada posttest, menunjukkan peningkatan poin berdasarkan skala Likert. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi berkontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketertarikan peserta terhadap konsep serta aplikasi fisika material. Pendekatan sosialisasi yang interaktif terbukti efektif untuk memperkuat minat dan wawasan peserta terhadap bidang ini.Kata Kunci: Fisika, Material, Edukasi

Abstract

This Research and development goal is to produce Student Worksheet (SWS) static fluid material based on the scientific approach using guided inquiry learning model, which is easy, interesting, useful and effective. This research was conducted through seven stages, namely: pra-research and data collection stage,  planning stage, pra-developing product stage, pra-test stage, revising design stage, product test stage, and revising product stage. The pra-study stage consists of a literature study and teacher and student assessment analysis in Al Kautsar Bandar Lampung high school. The developing stage is produces (SWS) static fluid material with scientific approaches based using guided inquiry learning model with well validated  of design expert and well enough of the material expert. The product test stage had been held on the sample with random cluster sampling technique which XI.IPA-5 class as the experimental class and XI.IPA-4 class as the control class. The results of this study indicate that the developing result SWS s has the easy category, interesting, useful, and good enough effective with the N-gain 0.599.
