Abstract

Chemistry is the science that studies matter, its properties, structure, changes or reactions, and the energy accompanying those changes. Aiming to enhance scientific abilities and critical and creative thinking, it is important to be studied in high school. Environmental issues often arise when concepts are applied in practice. Therefore, the community service program activities in MGMP South Jakarta 2 are here to assist chemistry teachers in applying the principles of green chemistry in chemistry practicals. The implementation method for this electrochemistry practical development program is carried out through training through material presentation, demonstrations, and practice. The questionnaire filled out by the chemistry teachers is used to collect data and as material for evaluating activities. This activity is expected to assist chemistry teachers in the MGMP Jakarta Selatan 2 in applying the principles of green chemistry and to raise public awareness about the importance of reducing hazardous waste that impacts both humans and the environment.    Abstrak Kimia merupakan ilmu yang mempelajari mengenai materi, sifat, struktur, perubahan atau reaksinya serta energi yang menyertai perubahan tersebut. Abstract

Reaction rate concepts in high school often lack submicroscopic depth and are not supported by digital media that match Generation Z's preferences for interactive learning. This study developed a Wix-based microlearning platform for 11th-grade students featuring videos, infographics, quizzes, worksheets, games, and modules. Using the ADDIE model, the platform was evaluated by experts and tested in the classroom. Expert validation showed high feasibility (91.94% from content and language experts, 90.40% from media experts). Large-scale trials with students and teachers also yielded high acceptance (93.25% and 93.23%, respectively). These findings support the platform’s feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing chemistry learning, especially for teaching reaction rates.

Abstract

This research aims to integrate agroindustry and sustainability development into chemistry learning through the Project-Based Learning model (PjBL) to improve the competence of preservice chemistry teachers. This research employed the qualitative method. The Summer Course program was held collaboratively by Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Institut Pertanian Bogor, and Villanova University. The program was implemented online within six weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants consisted of 25 students. The data had been collected through interviews, questionnaires, observations, student portfolios, and reflection journals. Based on the analysis, several projects developed by preservice chemistry teachers increased the application to solve sustainability problems in the agroindustry field. Furthermore, the project was expected to be developed into a natural product that can increase the agroindustry value for coffee farmers. The findings also foster the preservice chemistry teachers to improve their creative thinking, collaboration, higher-order thinking skills, and problem-solving skills. Besides, they developed their communication and collaboration after participating in the program. The paper outline is a project development learning experience in a sustainable field and would be a good resource for student-teacher involvement in teacher education.

Abstract

This study aimed to; (1) develop a teaching aid for the contact process of sulfuric acid production in chemical equilibrium materials; (2) to find out the influence of contact process teaching aids on increasing learning motivation. This study used a mixed-method research design with product development using RD methods (Research and Development) using ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluation) model of product implementation and used a quasi-experimental method to test the effectiveness of the product. The contact process props are in the form of four sets of tools consisting of reactor 1 as a place for oxygen production, reactor 2 as a place for SO2 production, a balance shift pipe as a place for SO3 production, and SO3 Absorption as a place where SO3 meets H2O to produce H2SO4. Contact process props provide students with visualizations of shifts in chemical equilibrium affected by pressure and volume. The feasibility test of material and language experts was 88.44% and the media feasibility test of 91.33% showed that contact process teaching aids on chemical equilibrium materials are very feasible as practicum media. The results of the independent t-test stated that there was an influence of the product on learning motivation with a significance value of  0.012. Contact process teaching aids provide learning with macroscopic representations to students, thus making learning about chemical equilibrium material interesting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the profile of science process skills through the implementations of  project-based learning integrated education for sustainable development on acid-base material. The aim of the project is to create a natural acid-base indicator that can determine the pH range of various solutions and the concentration of a solution using the titration method. This study uses a qualitative research method, the interpretive paradigm with the research subjects of XI IPA students in Jakarta totaling 29 people. Data collection techniques are carried out by class observation, reflective journals of student, interviews, and tests of science process skills. The results showed that science process skills arises during learning and were classified as very good with an average value of 86.99% according to observations and classified as good with an average value of 72.26% in the test of science process skills. Students apply the education for sustainable development (ESD) concept during the project by choosing safe solvents and conducting small-scale experiments to reduce the waste produced. The application of this project is expected to make students have the skills of a researcher by paying attention to sustainable development in every decision they make during learning.
