Abstract

Sawahlunto city is one of the cities/districts in West Sumatra actively assisting the poor. The assistance was given was livestock for farmers, such as goats, ducks, and native chickens. In 2020 the population of ducks in Sawahlunto was recorded at 18,654 ducks with 257 farmers. In 2022, there is a giving of 100 ducks to a breeder by the related government. The ducks are farmed in four sub-districts, i.e. Talawi, Barangin, Lembah Segar, and Silungkang Districts. The society target of the activity was duck breeders under the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service of Sawahlunto City. The main problem of them is high feed prices and difficulty developing breeders. The knowledge transfer from academics to farmers was carried out by counselling and discussions about good production, nutrition, and livestock health. This activity was carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic, which was still restricted by social distancing protocol. The discussion was attended by around 137 participants consisting of 70 poultry farmers, 30 agricultural assisting workers, and 37 local heads in Sawahlunto City.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interaksi antara lama fermentasi dengan dosis inokulumBacillus amyloliquefaciens terhadap kandungan nutrisi daun paitan (Tithonia diversifolia). Metode yangdigunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) faktorial 3 × 3 dengan 3ulangan. Faktor A (dosis inokulum) terdiri dari A1 = 1%, A2 = 2% dan A3 = 3%. Faktor B (lama fermentasi)terdiri dari B1 = 1 hari, B2 = hari dan B3 = 3 hari. Peubah yang diamati adalah kandungan bahan kering(%), serat kasar (%), dan protein kasar (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada interaksi antara dosis inokulum dan lama fermentasi terhadap semua parameter yang diamati akan tetapi dosis inokulum dan lama fermentasi berpengaruh terhadap kandungan protein kasar dan serat kasar daun paitan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah lama fermentasi 1 hari dengan dosis inokulum 3% menghasilkan kandungan bahan kering 46,73%, protein kasar 26,40%, dan serat kasar 7,88%. Abstract

This activity aims to realize a growing livestock business in Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Kejora in Sawahlunto that can generate profits to increase household incomes for KWT Kejora partner groups. The implementation of this activity was carried out in three stages; the first was the delivery of material and distributing questionnaires, the second stage was training and modeling, and the third stage was post-training assistance. The service activities in the form of socialization and training on local poultry farming at the KWT Kejora Sawahlunto have been carried out well. The result of this activity was that this activity was attended by 20 group members and accompanied by field officers from the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service of Swahlunto City. Group members generally know about local poultry farming (village chicken) but do not know how to raise chickens properly and do not know the factors that affect the sustainability of the livestock business. Therefore, this group must continue to be accompanied so that the sustainability of the group's business can develop and increase the household income of group members.

Abstract

The research was conducted to study the biodegradation capability on palm oil sludge substrate by Phanerochaete  chrysosporium   with increasing urea  as  nitrogen  source. The  experiment was  designed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, namely : U-0 = 0,0 %  Urea,    U-1=      0,5  %  Urea,    U-2  =  1,0  %  Urea,    U-3  =  1,5  %  Urea  and  U-4  =  2,0  %  Urea. The observed variables were the amount of spore, C/N ratio, pH, crude fiber, crude protein, lignin, cellulose and enzyme activities. The result of this study showed that added urea were significantly (P<0.01) crude fiber, crude protein, lignin, cellulose and enzyme activities. The use of urea on the first level amounting to  1.5  %  in palm  oil  sludge  can  help  Phanerochaete  chrysosporium   to  reduce  crude  fiber to (30,71%),  lignin (29.89  %),  cellulose (36.42  %) and it  can  increase  the  content  of crude  protein    to    (34.50  %), reduction sugar and enzyme activities.

Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui level penggunaan produk campuran Daun Indigofera dan Ampas Tahu Fermentasi (DIATF) menggunakan Bacillus amyloliquefaciens dalam ransum dan pengaruhnya terhadap performa ayam broiler. Sebanyak 100 ekor DOC broiler strain New Lohmann (MB-202 Platinum) digunakan dan diberi ransum perlakuan selama 5 minggu. Perlakuan adalah penggunaan DIATF dalam ransum. Ransum disusun dengan isoprotein 22% dan isoenergi 3000 kkal/kg. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan ransum dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakukan terdiri dari R0 (kontrol, tanpa penggunaan DIATF), R1 (menggunakan 5% DIATF), R2 (menggunakan 10% DIATF), R3 (menggunakan 15% DIATF), R4 (menggunakan 20% DIATF). Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi ransum, dan persentase karkas. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap konsumsi ransum dan pertambahan bobot badan, persentase karkas serta memberikan pengaruh berbeda nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konversi ransum. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah daun Indigofera dan ampas tahu yang difermentasikan dengan inokulum Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (DIATF) dapat digunakan sampai level 15% dalam ransum dan dapat mempertahankan performa broiler dengan konsumsi ransum 600,83 g/ekor/minggu, pertambahan bobot badan 304,51 g/ekor/minggu dan konversi ransum 1,98 serta persentase karkas 77,04%.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge of duck farmers in the Saririek Sepakat group located in Padang Ganting District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. The main challenge faced by this group is the high cost of feed. The solution offered to address this issue is to improve farmers' knowledge through nutrition optimization by transferring knowledge related to duck nutrition and appropriate technology for the use of probiotics, as well as utilizing local feed ingredients to create affordable and efficient rations. The methods used in this community service activity include observation, counseling and training, and post-training assistance. The participants of the activity consist of 20 members of the Saririek Sepakat group. The counseling provided includes the transfer of knowledge regarding the nutritional needs of ducks, challenges, and solutions related to feed. Demonstrations/training were conducted on the use of Waretha probiotics and the preparation of duck rations from simple ingredients to create efficient and affordable feed. The indicator of increased knowledge among group members is shown by the results of observations on their enthusiasm and understanding of the materials and training provided. The outcome of the community service activity is that the knowledge of group members has successfully increased by optimizing nutritional factors to develop duck farming businesses. A ration combining commercial feed/concentrate, rice bran, and corn with the addition of probiotics has become a solution for affordable feed. The conclusion of the community service activity is the increased knowledge of group members, particularly regarding the optimization of nutritional factors for duck farming in the Saririek Sepakat group.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the productivity and quality of pasture forage at BPTUHPT Padang Mengatas by analyzing the botanical composition, forage biomass production, and carrying capacity in different topographies. The research data were analyzed statistically using statistical analysis of variance using a completely randomized design with three treatments and five replications treated with three different topographies: flat, wavy, and hilly. The data obtained was processed statistically using analysis of variance. The treatment had a natural effect, so it was continued using the DMRT follow-up test. The analysis of the botanical composition of BPTUHPT Padang Mengatas pastures shows that they have many varieties of forage growing. The gramineae varieties that grow in the pastures of BPTUHPT Padang Mengatas are Brachiaria decumbens, Panicum maximum, and Cynodon plectostachyus, as well as many other types of grass, but in very low percentages. The results of statistical analysis show that differences in topography do not have a significant influence (P>0.05) on biomass production or carrying capacity in BPTUHPT Padang Mengatas pastures. From the research results, it can be concluded that there is a diversity of botanical composition in the grazing land of BPTUHPT Padang Mengatas, where Brachiaria decumbens dominates. At the same time, the average biomass production is 208 tons/ha/year.

Abstract

The broiler chicken farming industry in Indonesia continues to experience rapid growth in line with the increasing demand for chicken meat. To support the development of this industry, one of the main challenges that must be addressed is the availability, efficiency, and quality of feed. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) maggot oil as a feed additive on the performance, abdominal fat, and intestinal E. coli of broiler chickens. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 5 MB-212 P broiler chickens from PT. Japfa, with the following treatment details: R0 – 0% maggot oil in the feed; R1 – 0.5% maggot oil (14-day-old) in the feed; R2 – 1% maggot oil (14-day-old) in the feed; R3 – 0.5% maggot oil (28-day-old) in the feed; and R4 – 1% maggot oil (28-day-old) in the feed. Results of the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test showed that all measured parameters, except for abdominal fat, were significantly affected (P<0.05) by the supplementation of maggot oil in the feed. The addition of 1% maggot oil from 14-day-old larvae as a feed additive significantly improved broiler performance, as indicated by the highest feed intake of 352.28 g/bird, live weight of 1,058.5 g, carcass percentage of 83.44%, abdominal fat of 1.47%, and intestinal E. coli count of 4.00 × 10⁵ CFU/g.However, the supplementation of 1% maggot oil from 28-day-old larvae resulted in poorer broiler performance, as indicated by lower feed intake (286.90 g/bird) and a relatively high feed conversion ratio (FCR) of 2.03.
