Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence into corporate decision-making processes has introduced complex ethical challenges that demand urgent scholarly and practical attention. This study explores how AI implementation influences business ethics across five key dimensions: algorithmic bias, transparency, responsibility diffusion, privacy, and human autonomy. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 25 executives and ethics officers from multinational corporations across diverse sectors. Thematic analysis revealed widespread concerns about the opacity of AI systems, ethical disengagement, and the absence of clear accountability structures. Although some organizations have begun adopting ethical AI governance frameworks, the effectiveness of these measures varies significantly, with many efforts remaining reactive and fragmented. The findings highlight a critical gap between ethical aspirations and organizational realities, emphasizing the need for systemic reforms that embed ethics into the design, deployment, and oversight of AI technologies. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on AI ethics by offering empirical insights and actionable implications for policy, leadership, and future research.

Abstract

The production of palm sugar (gula semut aren) in Way Kalam Village is still carried out using traditional methods, characterized by limited technology, lack of quality standards, and weak institutional coordination. This study aims to analyze the governance of palm sugar production based on community empowerment through an interdisciplinary approach. The research employs a qualitative case study method, with data collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews with sugar producers, farmer groups, village officials, and the agricultural office, as well as analysis of supporting documents. The results reveal various inefficiencies in the production process, including bottlenecks during the drying phase, inconsistent product quality, and minimal adoption of appropriate technology. Using the Lean Production approach, wastes such as waiting time and overprocessing can be reduced by reorganizing workflow and optimizing equipment capacity. On the institutional side, strengthening farmer groups, enhancing inter-institutional coordination, and ensuring continuous mentoring are proven to be key factors in creating a more adaptive production ecosystem. This study recommends integrating technical and institutional strategies to sustainably empower palm sugar farmers. The proposed governance model can serve as a reference for developing a more efficient, competitive, and self-reliant village-based palm sugar industry.

Abstract

Teluk Bungus Ferry Port is a pioneer ferry port located in Bungus Teluk Kabung district, West Sumatera Province. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of subsidising ferry transport on the Padang-Siberut pioneer route served by KMP Ambu–Ambu. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach through the collection of primary and secondary data from relevant agencies, as well as using the ship operating cost analysis method and simple linear regression to project passenger and vehicle growth, ship operating costs and revenue from 2025 to 2030. The results of the study show that the average number of passengers and vehicles fluctuates, but shows a positive growth trend in 2025–2030. The Ship Operating Costs value in 2025 will reach Rp.10,355,532,711.02, with fixed costs, variable costs, overhead profit margin, and depreciation as the main factors. Meanwhile, revenue from ticket sales is not yet sufficient to cover the ship's operating costs. Based on the results of Ship Operating Costs forecasting and revenue in 2025–2030, the Break Even Point (BEP) of 26% indicates that the Padang–Siberut route is predicted to reach break-even point in March 2028, so that in 2028 it can be recommended to become a commercial route.
