Abstract

(Use of Fermented Pineapple Peel in the Ration Containing Medicinal Weeds on Fat and Cholesterol of Broiler Chicken)ABSTRACT. The objective of the experiment was to determine the effect of using fermented pineapple peel in the ration containing medicinal weeds on fat and cholesterol broiler chicken. The experiment was designed into completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates. Treatments consisted of P0 = 0% of fermented pineapple peels meal (FPPM) in ration containing 0% medicinal weed (MW), positive control). P1 = 0% of fermented pineapple peels meal (FPPM) in the ration containing 2 % medicinal weed (MW), negative control). P2 = 7,5% of FPPM in the ration containing P1. P3 = 15% of FPPM in the ration containing P1. P4 = 22,5% of FPPM in the ration containing P1. Two hundred 2 days old male broiler chicken were used in this study and kept for 42 days. The parameters were feed consumption, liver weight, bile volume, meat fat level, and meat and blood cholesterol. The observed data were analyzed by Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS 16.0) and significant effect among treatments were tested by Duncans Multiple Range Test. The results of thus study showed that the treatments were significant effect (P 0.05) on feed consumption, meat fat of thigh. but were not significant effect (P 0.05) on liver weight, bile volume, meat fat level and meat and blood cholesterol. It is concluded that use of fermented pineapple peel in the ration improved fat and cholesterol on broiler chicken.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of Kelor (Moringa oleifera) leaf infusion on the performance, physical quality of eggs, and health status of Lohmann Brown laying hens. This study used 120 laying hens aged 84 weeks. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments (P0: Drinking water without infusion, P1: drinking water containing 5% infusion (5 cc 100cc-1), P2: drinking water containing 10% infusion (10 cc 100cc-1) and 5 replications with 8 chickens in each replication. The data obtained were tested using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and any significant difference was continued with the Tukey test. The feed used was commercial laying hen feed produced by PT. Kerta Mulya Saripakan. The results showed that the administration of moringa leaf infusion in drinking water at a level of 5% (5 cc 100cc-1) significantly increased (p<0.05) hen day egg production (HDP), egg mass production, haugh units (HU), and egg yolk color scores, while it reduced the feed conversion ratio (FCR) value. A level of 5% was able to maintain the health of laying hens. It can be concluded that the administration of Kelor leaf infusion in drinking water maintains the production of laying hens.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) leaves extract (CLE) in drinking water on the performance and health profile of IPB-D1 chickens. Cassava leaves are known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins which have antioxidant and antibacterial properties. These compounds can provide positive effects such as feed efficiency, improving growth performance and health status of chickens by improving the immune system and reducing oxidative stress. Cassava leaves extract acts as a phytogenic additive that can be given in livestock drinking water. This study used 180 IPB-D1 chickens aged 2–8 weeks were randomly assigned to three treatments: CLE0 (control), CLE1 (17 ml/l CLE), and CLE2 (50 ml/l CLE). Parameters observed included growth performance, organ morphometry, hematological profiles, and ileal histology. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test (p<0.05). cassava leaves extract supplementation did not adversely affect growth or feed intake. Final body weight and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were not significantly different among the groups. A reduction in leukocyte counts was observed, particularly in the CLE2 group, with a relative increase in heterophils, though values remained within physiological limits. Histological analysis revealed a significant increase in villus surface area in the CLE2 group, followed by CLE1, compared to the control (CLE0), suggesting enhanced intestinal morphology and nutrient absorption potential. Cassava leaves extract can be given in the drinking water of IPB-D1 chickens without disrupting their performance and health profile. These findings indicate that cassava leaves extract can improve gut structure without compromising performance, supporting its application as a safe and beneficial phytogenic additive in poultry diets.

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the use of fish oil (FO) and palm oil (PO) in broiler chicken rations on the cholesterol content, omega-3 and omega-6 content, and malondialdehyde (MDA) of broiler chicken breast meat. Two hundred broiler DOCs were used in this study. The DOC was randomized and placed into 20 cage units (4 treatments and 5 replications), then kept for 5 weeks. A completely randomized design was used in the study, with treatments being P0: 3% PO oil, P1: 2% PO and 1% FO, P2: 1% PO and 2% FO, and P3: 3% FO. The variables observed were cholesterol levels, omega-3 and omega-6 content, as well as malondialdehyde in broiler chicken breast meat, and the data were analysed for variance. The results showed that the use of different ratios of FO and PO in rations did not show any significant difference in cholesterol levels, increased omega-3 levels (p<0.05), but showed no effect on omega-6 levels. The treatments did not differ in MDA levels. It concludes that the use of 3% lemuru fish oil produces the highest omega-3 in broiler chicken breast meat compared to other treatments. Key words:           cholesterol, lemuru fish oil, malondialdehyde, omega-3, palm oil
