Abstract

Matahari memindahkan energi panasnya ke jagat raya dengan modul radiasi. Untuk mencapai temperatur udara dengan kenyamanan termal dalam ruangan maka perlu pengkondisian temperatur udara dangan menggunakan AC, tetapi jika energi intensitas matahari terlalu banyak yang masuk ke ruangan pengkondisian melalui dinding kaca yang akan menyebabkan daya AC terlampau besar. Hal ini akan menyebabkan penggunaan energi listrik terlalu boros. Untuk memperkecil daya AC dalam ruangan yang diakibatkan oleh banyaknya masuk intensitas panas radiasi matahari dilakukan dengan cara menggunakan kaca sifat hambat intensitas cahaya yang rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh penghambatan intensitas cahaya matahari yang masuk ke dalam ruangan oleh masing-masing jenis kaca. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara memvariasikan jenis kaca yang akan dipasang pada kolektor surya, kaca curah hujan, kaca warna biru, kaca warna hitam, kaca One way, kaca jeruk. Pengukuran data temperatur dan intensitas cahaya diambil setiap 30 menit  dalam jangka waktu 3 jam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian kelima jenis kaca tersebut maka didapat pemilihan tingkat penghambatan kaca yang terbaik adalah jenis kaca One way karena pada intensitas cahaya 400 W/m2 – 500 W/m2, temperatur yang dihasilkan dalam ruangan adalah 45 0C.

Abstract

Sosis adalah salah satu makanan siap olah atau siap saji yang bahan bakunya utamanya adalah daging ayam yang halus  yang dicampur tepung atau pati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mendapatkan lama waktu penyimpanan sosis yang mempertahankan temperatur 0 oC, dengan  membutuhkan waktu 2 – 4 hari  yang menggunakan kotak yang terbuat dari kayu dan styrofoam. Dari hasil pengujian diperoleh bahwa  kotak kayu mampu mempertahankan  temperatur 0 oC pada jam ke  50, kotak styrofoam  pada jam  ke 64 kotak campuran pada jam ke 71. Temperatur dalam sosis  (T1) kotak kayu  dari jam  ke 1 hingga jam ke 39  mengalami kenaikan  temperatur lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan kotak  campuran  dan kotak styrofoam.  Temperatur dalam kotak (T2) box kayu dari jam ke 1 hingga jam ke 46 mengalami kenaikan temperatur lebih rendah di bandingkan dengan box campuran dan box styrofoam

Abstract

Heat exchanger expected to high effectiveness of heat transfer. Type of plate heat exchanger was more efficient compare to another heat exchangers in industrial applications with pressure less than 30 bar. The increased velocity of cold fluid flow has an impact to increase the performance of heat exchanger by  heat transfer rate (Q), heat transfer coefficient (U), and the effectiveness of heat exchanger (ε). The increased velocity of cold fluid flow also incresing the heat transfer rate. The study carried out by variation of the cold fluid velocity at 0.03 m/s, 0.037 m/s, 0.045 m/s, 0.051 m/s and 0.059 m/s. Inlet hot fluid temperature (Th,i) at 45°C and cold fluid temperature (Tc,i) at 27°C constant. The results shows Q value from the original 1570.71 Watt to 1916.16 Watt on the hot side and 1751.89 Watt to 2187.01 Watt on the cold side. The U value from the original 1180.46 W/m2.°C becomes 1408,75 W/m2. °C. The ε value increased from 60.33% to 75.69%. The increasing of  cold fluid velocity directly proportional to the the heat transfer rate (Q) and performance of the plate heat exchanger. This Phenomenon due to the faster circulation of the cold fluid, which causes the cold fluid to quickly return to its initial temperature (Th,i), an than increasing the plate heat exchanger's performance.

Abstract

Aceh Government data for year 2020 shows the number of vehicles circulating in its territory has reached 2.7 million units of vehicles consisting of 2.1 million motorcycles and 600 thousand cars. Vehicle maintenance and repair service businesses began to grow both in urban and rural areas. The vehicle maintenance and repair service business consist of various areas of expertise including: engine expertise which includes oil changes, engine tune up, engine overhaul, engine electrical and brake systems. While the expertise of the chassis and body (frame and body) which includes: setting the frame, body repair & painting. The achievement of this community service is (1) to provided education and skills regarding service and repair and overhaul techniques for motorcycle components, (2) Provided knowledge about the mechanical working principles of motorcycle components and how to repair them. The training methods used include lectures to increase knowledge on how to repair vehicles; question and answer, discussion, and guidance on motorcycle repair practices. The results of the training, after conducting a basic mechanical competency, participants able to disassemble and reassemble vihicle parts perfectly, and also able to service and perform vehicle maintenance proficiently.

Abstract

The quality of teachers will be better if the stakeholders are able to prepare competent teachers, so that teachers can make changes and adapt to the progress of science and technology. The problem experienced by partners is that not all teachers are looking to continue to develop themselves; limited trainings related to competency improvement, capacity building training models that can be implemented in schools. This activity aims to provide an increase in the professional capacity of SMK teachers. Partners in this activity are teachers of SMK Negeri 4 Lhokseumawe. As for the method of implementing the activities carried out by workshops and In House Training. The results of the evaluation of community empowerment service activities have been able to make a real contribution in increasing knowledge, understanding, and increasing the professional capacity of teachers through continuous training activities. The implementation of this service activity is able to help partner teachers in their potential to become professional teachers by participating in ongoing training through workshops and jam sessions. The knowledge, understanding, skills and productivity of teachers have increased through increasing the professional capacity of Vocational High School teachers.

Abstract

Anaerobic digestion of biomass is a beneficial strategy for energy production as well as waste management system. Through the fermentation process, the sources of biomass such as domestic organic and restaurant wastes can be utilized to generate renewable energy. In this study, the biogas was produced from food waste to generate electricity. The performance of biogas-fueled generator sets was evaluated and compared with gasoline (pertalite) fuel at various electric loads. There are seven different load variations: idle, 100, 300, 500, and 700 Watts. Data was collected and analyzed using the combustion engine gas cycle theory. The biogas-fueled engine test results indicated that the brake power on average was 1.9 kW, or 65.6% of the maximum brake power specified by the engine manufactured. The average torque was 7.02 Nm, or 68.14% of the maximum torque that specified on the name plate. The average brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of biogas was 0.41 kg/kWh, while the BSFC of pertalite fuel was 0.168 kg/kWh. Compared to biogas fuel, the BSFC of pertalite is less with a difference of 0.242 kg/kWh. Overall, biogas produced from restaurant waste is technically feasible to be used as an alternative fuel for electric generator engine.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country which has rich biological diversity. King grass (Pennisetum Purpupoides) is one of biological species which easily grow but has not yet been optimally used. This study examined the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of bio-briquettes produced from king grass which has been torrefied at temperatures of 150˚C, 175˚C and 200˚C. Prior to torrefaction process, fresh king grass was chopped to a size 3 cm, dried under the sun for five days, and then put into the torrefaction reactor with a residence time of 45 minutes. The resulting solid product, i.e. bio-char was then pulverized and sieved to a particle size of 40 mesh, then mixed with 20% wt binder and stirred manually to reach homogeneous. Subsequently, a purposely made press machine was used to produce briquette at a pressure of 150 kg/cm2 followed by drying the product under the sun for three days. The briquette characterization employed several techniques including thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), bomb calorimeter, and mechanical testing. The results showed that the calorific value of king grass increased from 3747 cal/g to 4346 cal/g after the torrefaction process at a temperature of 175˚C. The results of the proximate test showed that the fixed carbon content increased from 4.76% to 25.75% after the torrefaction process at a temperature of 175˚C. In terms of mechanical properties, it is known that the torrefaction process of king grass has significantly improved the friability, density and size stability. Overall, this study has succeeded in revealing the potential use of briquette products made from king grass as alternative fuel for co-firing at steam power plant

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' responses to the implementation of ethnopedagogical modules in science-based on local wisdom in thematic learning towards learning independence. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Muara Satu, Lhokseumawe City. Field problems found that during the learning process in both elementary schools, thematic learning had not been linked with ethnopedagogy based on local wisdom. Consequently, students lacked learning independence at school. The research type used was a pre-experimental design, labeled as such because it was not a full-fledged experimental study. The research design used was the One-Group Posttest Design, an experiment conducted with only one group without a comparison group. The sample in this study was a fifth-grade class with 114 students, selected using purposive sampling technique. This instrument aimed to assess students' learning independence after using the teaching module. The research results indicate that the implementation of the Ethnopedagogical Module, which smoothly integrates local wisdom and cultural contexts into science education, results in enthusiastic student engagement and contextualized learning experiences. This is evidenced by the results of the student learning independence test indicators, with the highest scores found in the research results for the learning independence variable in the indicator of having a competitive drive to advance. The overall sample obtained an average score of 83.2 in the category of excellent.

Abstract

  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kekuatan sambungan las V pada baja AISI 1050 dengan elektroda 7016 menggunakan proses pengelasan SMAW, serta untuk melakukan pengujian tarik dengan standar ASTM E8 dan pengujian impak dengan standar ASTM E23. Variasi arus yang digunakan dalam proses pengelasan adalah 100A, 125A, dan 150A. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa arus pengelasan memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap kekuatan sambungan las. Pengujian menunjukkan bahwa arus 150A menghasilkan tegangan tarik tertinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 63,76 kgf/mm², sementara arus 100A menghasilkan tegangan tarik terendah dengan nilai rata-rata 38,13 kgf/mm². Untuk pengujian impak, arus 150A memberikan ketahanan impak terbaik dengan nilai kekuatan impak rata-rata 3,68 J/mm², sedangkan arus 100A menghasilkan kekuatan impak terendah dengan nilai rata-rata 1,53 J/mm². Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa peningkatan arus menghasilkan peningkatan panas yang dihasilkan, yang memungkinkan elektroda mencair dengan lebih sempurna, sehingga menghasilkan sambungan las yang lebih kuat. Namun, peningkatan arus tidak selalu menghasilkan sambungan yang lebih baik; ada kondisi di mana hasil las dapat rusak jika arus yang digunakan terlalu besar, karena setiap material memiliki titik lebur yang berbeda. Pengelasan dapat mengalami kerusakan jika panas yang dihasilkan melebihi titik lebur material yang digunakan.

Abstract

Honeycomb is applied to the Open Series Subsonic Wind Tunnel which aims to obtain a unidirectional fluid flow shape with uniform (laminar) and stable fluid flow velocities. Honeycomb testing was carried out experimentally at a flow velocity of 3 m / s without honeycomb using a variety of shapes: hexagonal, square, and circular. Each honeycomb shaped to 8mm diameter. The results of the analysis on honeycomb testing with variations in shape obtained the value of turbulence intensity that occurs in the test section, namely for hexagonal shape variations the flow that occurs is better than circular shape, while in circular shape variations the value of turbulence intensity is better than square shape. The results of the Reynold's number calculation show that the flow that occurs is laminar with the following values, in the hexagonal shape variation the value is 787, circular shape 956.48, and square shape 1199.42. After calculating the turbulence intensity and Reynold's number, we can conclude that honeycomb with hexagonal shape variation is optimal than circular shape, and circular is optimal than square.
