Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a problem that can cause short-term complications, one of them is hypoglycemia.Hypoglycemia is a complicating factor for achieving normal blood glucose levels. To avoid the complicationsof good hypoglycemia, adequate knowledge is needed so that sufferers can prevent complications. This studyanalyzed the correlation between characteristics of patients with diabetes mellitus through knowledge abouthypoglycemia at Cempaka Inpatient Community Health Center with cross sectional approach. The samplingtechnique was consecutive sampling with a total sampling of 64 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Data wereanalyzed by using Chi Square test. The results also showed that most patients with diabetes mellitus associatedwith knowledge about age hypoglycemia (p-value = 0.017), length of suffering (p-value = 0.020), education (pvalue = 0.042), and those not related to sex (p-value = 0.149), and occupation (p-value = 0.380).Characteristics of diabetes mellitus patients become a support for knowledge about hypoglycemia because ofthese characteristics are expected to achieve an understanding of the actions to be taken in an effort to improvethe complications of hypoglycemia

Abstract

People with type 2 diabetes mellitus are affected by complications of diabetic foot ulcers. Long suffereddiabetic foot ulcer to heal affected by psychological stress impact on changes in patient self-esteem. Thisstudy analyzed the relationship between suffering duration of wound with self-esteem of diabetic foot ulcerpatients. This research used the correlational method with cross-sectional method. The sampling techniquewas accidental sampling involved 80 patients. Data were analyzed by using Chi-Square test. The resultsshowed majority of patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcer wounds were ≥45 days (57.5%). The majority ofpatients have low self-esteem (52.5%). Chi-Square test results are p-value = 0.049 (α <0.05) with OR =2.756 (95% CI = 1.104-6, 879) which means there was a significant relationship between the length ofsuffering from wound with the patient's self-esteem of diabetic foot ulcer. Suffering duration of wound was afactor that agreed with self-esteem.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic complex disease that requires medical care, self managementeducation and ongoing support to prevent complications. Health education is one of steps toincrease knowledge and skills of diabetes management independently to avoid the complication ofDM, one of them is Diabetes Self Management Education and Support (DSME/S). The aim of thisstudy was to determine the effect of DSME/S on increasing the independent management ofknowledge of patients with type 2 DM. This study use pre experimental method with one grouppretest-posttest design. There were 30 patients with type 2 DM at Idaman Kota BanjarbaruHospital on March-April 2018. This study used consecutive sampling technique. Follow up wasconducted after intervention on the third day. The instruments were module, demographicquestionnaire and DM knowledge questionnaire. Based on Paired t test results, there is an effect ofDSME/S on increasing the independent management ofknowledge of patients with type 2 DM was0.0001 (p<α; α=0.005), with an increase of 15.97%. DSME/S is effective on improving knowledgeof patient with type 2 DM, so it can be given to patients with type 2 DM as self-managementeducation to prevent complications.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease indicated by abnormal increase of blood glucose level. Diabetesmellitus requires long-term medical attention and treatment to prevent complication and manage the disease.The risk of complication can be reduced by self-management. The success of self-management hygieneconsiting of nutritional, pharmacology, physical training, blood sugar monitoring and foot care aspects areaffected by the motivation of diabetes mellitus patient. This research was located in Sungai Besar Village,from June to July 2019. The aim of this study was to determine the description of the motivation and selfmanagement of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. It was a descriptive observational research using nonprobability sampling method with consecutive sampling technique. The instrument was questionnaire with atotal of 101 respondents. Result the study showed that most respondents’ motivation was good (72.3%) andmost respondents’ self-management was good (92.1%). It showed that high motivation was indicated bybehaviors. The motivation of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients encouraged them to do self-management ofdiabetes mellitus. Motivation and self management of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Sungai BesarVillage were good. Howover, only 2,0% of respondents dry between of their toes after washing and cleaningthem on the aspect of foot care. This result can be used as a reference for health workers to socialize abouthealth education related to the importance of foot care avoiding foot problems. Diabetes patient wereexpected to have great motivation doing self management.

Abstract

Management of foot ulcers is one of them by ensuring an adequate blood supply that can be seenfrom the ABI value and caring for local injuries that can be seen from the MUNGS Score for theprevention of worsening and repair of wounds in people with DM. This study aims to describe theABI value and the characteristics of the injury based on the instrument to study the MUNGSinjury for diabetics with diabetic wounds. This research method in the form of quantitativedescription through interviews with guidelines. The sampling technique was accidental samplingand the sample size was 32 patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with diabeticulcers. The results of this study indicate that the ABI score in diabetes mellitus respondents withdiabetic ulcers has a mild score of 19 people (59%) and a wound assessment score (MUNGS) ofthe moderate category (6-10) of 17 people (53%). The higher the MUNGS value and the ABIvalue is far from normal, the injury condition is bad, and the lower the score and the ABI value isclose to normal, the better the wound condition.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus type 2 is the occurrence of hyperglycemia due to insulinresistance, the primary goal of treatment is through dietary adherence. Thequality of life is important in health, and as the ultimate goal of healthintervention. The aim of this study to analyze the relationship between dietcompliance and the quality of life diabetes mellitus type 2 in Ratu ZalechaHospital Martapura. The design of this study was correlation. There were 37respondents took as samples with accidental sampling, then the data analysis wasdone by using chi-square test. The study instrument used dietary compliancequestionnaires and WHOQOL-BREF. The result analysis obtained significantvalue p=0,028 < 0,005, so H0 rejected. Furthermore, there was a relationshipbetween quality of life and dietary adherence of diabetes mellitus type 2. This wasindicates that the level of dietary adherence can effect quality of life the patientsdiabetes mellitus type 2 in Ratu Zalecha Hospital Martapura.

Abstract

Gout artritis is a inflammatory disease where the impact caused form in the of pain. Based ofinformation from the Riskesdas in 2013, south Kalimantan Ranks seventh gout arthritissufferers 9.5%. the purpose of this study is to know the effect of ginger compress on theintensity of gout arthritis pain in elderly in PSTW Budi Sejahtera South Kalimantan. Thisresearch is an Quasy Eksperimental two goup pretest-postest The study was divided intotreatment group of ginger compress and control group of warm compress. The samplingtechnique using probability sampling and sample 32 the number of older people. Theinstruments used were in the form of ginger compress, warm compress, and observationalnumeric rating scale. The results showed is a effect of ginger compress (P-value = 0,00), soit could be concluded that H0 was rejected, where there is effect of ginger compress on theintensity of gout arthritis pain in elderly in PSTW Budi Sejahtera South Kalimantan.

Abstract

Tuberculosis(TB) resulting the decreasing of nutrient intake and malabsorbsi as well aschanging the metabolism of the body. The wasthing are decreased protein energy. Malnutritionon TB affects the prognosis of the treatment and death rates. The increase TNF α will inhibit theenzyme activity of Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL) in the fat tissue. LPL enzyme plays a role in cleavageprocess of triglycerides. This research was to analyze the relationship of triglycerides andnutrition status on the client with tuberculosis. The design was cross-sectional approach. Therespondents were gathered from 25 newly TB patients. The analyzed using Pearson ProductMoment correlation. The results showed 56% respondents undernutrition, and normal 40% andover nutrition 4%. Most triglyceride level of the respondent were normal (84). The concludedwas a relationship between triglycerides and the nutritional status with a positive correlation ( Pvalue 0,396).

Abstract

Anemia is a condition which is more common in adolescent girls, which can be caused by variousfactors such as nutritional status, menstruation, and socioeconomic. Anemia can cause a personto experience a decrease in the immune system and causes the body susceptible to healthproblems. The objective of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidenceof anemia among adolescent girls in SMP Negeri 4 Banjarbaru. The study results show thatfactor associated with anemia are period of menstruation (p = 0.003), the length of the menstrualcycle (p = 0.004), education level of parents (mother) (p = 0.000), and the income level ofparents (p = 0.000) , The factor which is not associated with anemia is nutritional status (p =0.064). The period and length of abnormal menstrual cycle can cause anemia because bloodremoved will be more than the normal amount. Mother's education level and parents’ low incomewill lead to anemia due to lack ofchildren’s needs fulfillment.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of a disease that can not be cured but can be control with insulintreatment. However, in providing treatment of insulin injections also with right dose, right lane,right time and right location. This study aims to Assessed the use of insulin pen injection ondiabetes mellitus patients in hospital Ulin Banjarmasin. This study was used a descriptive methodto described the important events that occurred. Respondents were 30 people. The samplingtechnique used accidental sampling. Study scheduled in December 2016-January 2017. Theinstruments used were a questionnaire on demographic and format of assessment to evaluate howto use insulin pen injection. The results showed the data of 20 (66.7%) of respondents werecorrected and in the proper used of insulin injection pen and 10 (33.3%) of respondents were notprecised and corrected in using insulin pen injection. It should be carried out to evaluate theprogram on how to use Insulin pen injection so as to optimised the use of the application insulininjection pen that is good and right.
