Abstract

The diversity of plants that exist on the banks of the Rindu Hati River is overgrown with plants, one of which is a tree-loving plant that has an important role in the river ecosystem and has the potential to mitigate disasters. This study aims to identify Disaster Mitigation Oriented Tree-Habitus Plants on the Rindu Hati Riverbanks which can be used as teaching materials in the form of Learning Unit Books (BUP) to increase understanding of natural science concepts and disaster awareness. Determining the research location using purposive sampling technique and inventory of tree plants using the quadratic method with an area measuring 20 mx 20 m at the tree level, 10 mx 10 m at the pole level, and 5 mx 5 m at the sapling level. Found 18 plant species from 13 families with a total of 137 individuals. These plants have disaster mitigation potential with a diversity index at the tree level reaching 2.674 in the medium category, the pole level reaching 2.432 in the medium category and the sapling level reaching 1.791 in the medium category. Based on these findings, a BUP can be made which can facilitate students in learning about information on tree-loving plants as disaster mitigation.

Abstract

Palm shell waste and empty palm fruit bunches thrown away can cause environmental pollution. This palm oil waste can be used as an environmentally friendly energy source, namely briquettes. Briquettes, as an environmentally friendly energy source, can be used as teaching material in school science learning. This study aims to design learning units for environmentally friendly energy sources based on palm shell waste briquettes and empty palm fruit bunches as teaching materials. Data collection techniques were carried out by observing the potential of palm oil waste in the North Bengkulu area and need analysis, including material analysis and interviews. The resulting analytical data were analyzed descriptively regarding the composition, texture, colour, test of briquettes used, burning time, calorific value and moisture content of the resulting briquettes. The sample of needs analysis data collection was determined by purposive sampling. The data from the analysis will be developed into teaching materials packaged in designing learning units on environmentally friendly technology materials for junior high school students

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of shrubs along the banks of the Rindu Hati River in Central Bengkulu, the output of which will be a Learning Unit Book (BUP). The research method is research and development limited to needs analysis and design framework. In this study, the location determination used the porposive sampling technique based on the presence of shrubs which were considered to represent places in the longing liver river. The results showed that the number of shrub species on the banks of the Miss Hati River found was 230 of 21 species of shrubs. The diversity index value (H') ranges from 2.311-2.511 which is included in the medium category, the evenness index (E) ranges from 0.759-0.83 which is included in the high category, and the dominance index (C) ranges from 0.09-0.1065 which is included in the high category. low. In conclusion, from this data it is necessary to develop a teaching material that can facilitate students in learning which contains a diversity of shrubs which is facilitated by teachers and students in facilitating learning to classify living things. The teaching material is in the form of a learning unit book (BUP). Keywords: Teaching Materials, Learning Unit Books, Shrubs, Sungai Rindu Hati

Abstract

AbstractThe primary objective of this paper is to address the mitigation of disasters resulting from climate change and global warming. Such disasters are the result of increased greenhouse gas emissions, primarily caused by human activities like deforestation and the use of fossil fuels. To analyze the concept of hydrocarbon combustion from basic competencies (KD) 3.3 and 4.3 of chemistry class XI, we employed a qualitative descriptive method supported by a literature review. The paper investigates the relationship between climate change, the greenhouse effect, the carbon cycle, and their effects on the environment and health. Furthermore, it proposes a learning design that combines the Research-Based Learning (RBL) model with the STEAM approach to enhance students' comprehension of climate change, the consequences of hydrocarbon combustion, and emergency response measures. One of the highlighted learning strategies is the creation of an interactive and engaging mini park mockup to facilitate student understanding. The use of technology, specifically machine learning, is recommended for decision making in global warming disaster mitigation. This paper stresses the significance of integrating chemistry learning for knowledge and skills development in KD 3.3 and 4.3, and for understanding global warming and disaster mitigation efforts. The goal is to provide students with science literacy skills as well as the ability to identify concrete actions in reducing the negative impacts of climate change.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the abundance, diversity, dominance and evenness of gastropods at the mouth of the Ketahun River, North Bengkulu. The method used is the "purposive" method. The sampling location was divided into 4 (four) stations, namely in the tidal area and on the right and left in the downstream part of the estuary. The sampling technique uses transects, at each station measuring 20m. Gastropod data analysis uses the Shannon Wiener index, Simpson index, and Pielou index. The research results showed that at the mouth of the Ketahun river, 18 species of gastropods were obtained consisting of 7 genera and 3 families. The diversity index shows, a) station I has an index value of 1.81 (medium category); b) station II has an index value of 0.49 (low category); c) station III has an index value of 1.89 (medium category); d) station IV has an index value of 0.82 (low category). The dominance index shows, a) station I has an index value of 0.23 (low category); b) station II has an index value of 0.70 (medium category); c) station III has an index value of 0.19 (low category); d) station IV has an index value of 0.63 (medium category). The evenness index shows, a) station I has an index value of 0.62 (high category); b) station II has an index value of 0.17 (small category); c) station III has an index value of 0.65 (high category); d) station IV has an index value of 0.28 (small category). The most common gastropod found is the genus Clithon with a total of 1369 individuals. Abundance, diversity, dominance and evenness are determined by abiotic parameters and environmental conditions such as substrate and water quality. Keywords: Bengkulu, Gastropods, Ketahun River

Abstract

Amorphophallus titanum is a rare plant with high economic potential. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of vegetative propagation of Amorphophallus titanum through stem cuttings by providing treatment with the addition of ecoenzyme composition. Four ecoenzyme treatments with variations in vegetable composition (100%) and fruit peels (0%, 50%, 75%) were applied to stem cuttings. The materials used in the manufacture of ecoenzymes must be fresh and have not rotted or indicated mold. Ecoenzymes that have been made and fermented for 3 months, then will be analyzed for macroelements Nitrogen (N), P (phosphorus), Potassium (K). The results showed that only treatment with a 100% vegetable composition was able to increase the percentage of plant survival by 80% after 8 weeks. These results indicate that the composition of ecoenzymes has a great influence on the growth of stem cuttings of Amorphophallus titanum. The composition of ecoenzymes containing fruit peels, both singly and in mixtures, has a negative effect on plant growth. Further research is needed to identify the active compounds in ecoenzymes that affect the growth  of Amorphophallus titanum.
