Abstract

Abstract This Community Partnership Program (PKM) focuses on the design and implementation of a tray dryer type seaweed drying tool in Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Rote Regency is one of Indonesia's leading seaweed production centers, particularly the Eucheuma cottonii variety, which has high economic value and competitiveness in the international market. However, until now, seaweed farmers still face major challenges in the post-harvest stage, especially the drying process, which still relies on sunlight. This traditional method causes suboptimal drying, is weather-dependent, unsanitary, and can potentially reduce the quality and grade of the seaweed, thus impacting farmers' income. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to present appropriate technology in the form of a simple, inexpensive, easy-to-operate automatic seaweed drying system of the tray dryer type that does not require a specialized operator. The tool is designed using a convection-based heating system with temperature and humidity controlled through sensors and a microcontroller, enabling it to produce more evenly dried, hygienic, and high-quality seaweed. The approach used is participatory, where partners from the Fisheries Service and community groups are actively involved from planning, training, assembly, to operation and maintenance of the tool. The outcomes of this activity include increased quantity, quality, and continuity of seaweed production, improved knowledge and skills of the community in applying modern drying technology, and reduced dependence on conventional drying methods. With the implementation of tray dryer technology, this PKM is expected to help improve the welfare of coastal communities in Rote Ndao Regency and strengthen the sustainable utilization of marine potential. Keywords: seaweed; rote regency; tray dryer; training; assistance.

Abstract

This study investigates digital textile design innovation through a cultural infiltration approach, integrating the visual elements of the Buburi Olimpopo Motif from Bombana Regency, Southeast Sulawesi into the structure of three East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) motifs: the Kaif Motif (Timor), the Sepe Motif (Kupang), and the Ntala Motif. The method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the PPE Model (Planning, Production, Evaluation), integrated with a qualitative approach in a Concurrent Embedded design. The Planning phase produced differentiated infiltration concepts for each base motif through literature study and design needs analysis. The Production phase yielded three digital design prototypes developed using Affinity Designer software with a CMYK color profile. In Design I, Buburi Olimpopo spiral elements were inserted into the four-pointed star void of the Kaif Motif using a charcoal-silver monochromatic palette. In Design II, the organic elements of the Sepe Motif were merged with Buburi Olimpopo using red, emerald green, and navy blue palettes. In Design III, the empty star core of the Ntala Motif was entirely reconstructed by Buburi Olimpopo using a metallic gold and ruby red palette. All three prototypes consistently applied Gestalt principles of unity and harmony, demonstrating that the infiltration method produces a new cultural composition distinctly different from conventional patchwork approaches.

Abstract

Community Health Centers are the front guard in providing health services to the community, where the government has designated them as First Level Health Facilities (Level 1 Health Facilities) which are the reference for obtaining health insurance at the next level (Hospital).  Therefore, community health centers must provide the best services and complete education, so that the goals of public health can be achieved.   Occupational Health and Safety is an important element in protecting ourselves both from the service provider side (employees/staff) and from the service recipient side (patients/community).  Occupational Health and Safety itself consists of several elements that must be understood, including: Occupational Diseases, Personal Protective Equipment, Psychology and Ergonomics, Comfort (Noise and Vibration), Dangers (Mechanical and Electrical) and ultimately can be intertwined in the Safety Management System and Occupational Health.  All of these things have not been fully realized and applied in everyday life, even in health facilities. With this activity, it is hoped that the implementation of good Occupational Health and Safety will automatically increase the health figures of the community itself.

Abstract

The thermal energy storage system through sand media is one of the energy storage solutions that has great potential to be developed to meet energy needs. PCM is a type of latent heat storage that has been developed as a good thermal energy storage material. The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficiency of thermal energy storage in sand media equipped with phase change material (PCM) stored in a drum container as a sand battery. The results of this study indicate that the use of sand batteries without PCM tends to be low at the beginning of the heating time by the heater element and increases at the end of the heating time. The use of PCM where the PCM changes phase from solid to liquid tends to absorb higher heat than media without PCM so that efficiency increases and tends to be stable until the heat release process is also longer than media without PCM. While in media without PCM, there tends to be a slower increase in thermal efficiency and a shorter time for the heat release process than media with

Abstract

Abstract The small-scale ikat weaving industry plays a strategic role in the community’s economy, particularly in preserving cultural diversity and local heritage. One challenge faced by this industry is the weak position of weaving groups as a tourism resource element, which results in low exposure and income from ikat weaving products. PT Misi Kasih Toserba, as the partner that fosters small-scale ikat weaving artisan groups, faced three main problems: (i) a lack of understanding of the economic, cultural, and social potential of transforming the weaving process into a tourist attraction; (ii) the absence of a weaving activity model with educational and economic value; and (iii) inadequate resources to prepare its guided weaving groups to face these challenges. To address these issues, the Community Service Team from the Ikat Weaving Engineering Study Program, Universitas Nusa Cendana, collaborated with PT Misi Kasih Toserba to carry out a mentoring program from April to October 2025 at the partner’s guided ikat weaving group in Noinbila Village, Mollo Selatan Subdistrict, South Central Timor Regency. The program was implemented in four stages: socialization, a tourist attraction design workshop, the development, promotion, and marketing of the weaving attraction, and monitoring and evaluation, involving 20 ikat weaving artisans as the main participants. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in designing a weaving tourist attraction, marked by the development of the “Weaving for Tourists” tour package, the availability of digital promotional materials, and the completion of one portable demo booth to support the weaving attraction. As the culmination of the program, a simulation of the weaving tourist attraction was carried out involving 5 partner weavers at Wisma Alak Resort Kupang, which received a positive response from the resort’s guests. Overall, this mentoring program contributed to the preservation of local culture, strengthened the position of the weaving group as a tourism resource element, and enhanced artisans’ skills in tourism and creative business management. Keywords: ikat weaving; tourist attraction; local culture.
