Abstract

In terms of movement, mobile robots are equipped with various navigation techniques. One of the navigation techniques used is facial pattern recognition. But Mobile robot hardware usually uses embedded platforms which have limited resources. In this study, a new navigation technique is proposed by combining a face detection system with a ram-based artificial neural network. This technique will divide the face detection area into five frame areas, namely top, bottom, right, left, and neutral. In this technique, the face detection area is divided into five frame areas, namely top, bottom, right, left, and neutral. The value of each detection area will be grouped into the ram discriminator. Then a training and testing process will be carried out to determine which detection value is closest to the true value, which value will be compared with the output value in the output pattern so that the winning discriminator is obtained which is used as the navigation value. In testing 63 face samples for the Upper and Lower frame areas, resulting in an accuracy rate of 95%, then for the Right and Left frame areas, the resulting accuracy rate is 93%. In the process of testing the ram-based neural network algorithm pattern, the efficiency of memory capacity in ram, the discriminator is 50%, assuming a 16-bit input pattern to 8 bits. While the execution time of the input vector until the winner of the class is under milliseconds (ms).

Abstract

Multi-robot is a robotic system consisting of several robots that are interconnected and can communicate and collaborate with each other to complete a goal. With physical similarities, they have two controlled wheels and one free wheel that moves at the same speed. In this Problem, there is a main problem remaining in controlling the movement of the multi robot formation in searching the target. It occurs because the robots have to create dynamic geometric shapes towards the target. In its movement, it requires a control system in order to move the position as desired. For multi-robot movement formations, they have their own predetermined trajectories which are relatively constant in varying speeds and accelerations even in sudden stops. Based on these weaknesses, the robots must be able to avoid obstacles and reach the target. This research used Fuzzy Logic type 2 – Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm which was compared with Fuzzy Logic type 2 – Modified Particle Swarm Optimization and Fuzzy Logic type 2 – Dynamic Particle Swarm Optimization. Based on the experiments that had been carried out in each environment, it was found that Fuzzy Logic type 2 - Modified Particle Swarm Optimization had better iteration, time and resource and also smoother robot movement than Fuzzy Logic type 2 – Particle Swarm Optimization and Fuzzy Logic Type 2 - Dynamic Particle Swarm Optimization.

Abstract

The facial recognition process is normally used to verify and identify individuals, especially during the process of analyzing facial biometrics. The face detection algorithm automatically determines the presence or absence of a face. It is, however, theoretically difficult to analyze the face of a system with limited resources due to the complex pattern of a face. This implies an embedded platform scheme which is a combination of several learning methods supporting each other is required. Therefore, this research proposed the combination of the Haar Cascade method for the face detection process and the WNNs method for the learning process. The WNNs face recognition Algorithm (WNNs-FRA) uses facial data at the binary level and for binary recognition. Moreover, the sample face data in the binary were compared with the primary face data obtained from a particular camera or image. The parameters tested in this research include detection distance, detection coordinates, detection degree, memory requirement analysis, and the learning process. It is also important to note that the RAM node has 300 addresses divided into three face positions while the RAM discriminator has three addresses with codes (00), (10), and (10). Meanwhile, the largest amount of facial ROI data was found to be 900 pixels while the lowest is 400 pixels. The total RAM requirements were in the range of 32,768 bytes and 128 bytes and the execution time for each face position was predicted to be 33.3% which is an optimization because it is 66.67% faster than the entire learning process

Abstract

Skin is the one of the body parts that play a large role in human physical body. There are so many functions of the skin such as offering protection against fungal infection, bacteria, allergy, viruses and controls the temperature of the body. But, the reported shown that the skin disease is the most common disease in humans among all age groups and a significant root of infection. The diagnosis of skin diseases involves several tests. Due to this, the diagnosis process is seen to be intensely laborious, time-consuming and requires an extensive understanding aspecially for the skin disease that have similar symptoms. Two skin diseases that have similar symptoms and most misdiagnosed are atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Convolutional Neural Network for image processing and classifying have been developed for more accurate classification of skin diseases with different architectures. However, the accuracy in determining skin lesions using CNNs is on the average level. The factors that affect the accuracy result of a CNN is the depth where gradients vanished as the network goes deeper. Another factor is the variance in the training set which means the need of the large size of training set. Hence, in this study we tried 10 CNN architecture to get the best result for classifying dermatitis atopic and psoriasis. These are VGG 16, VGG 19, ResNet 50, ResNet 101, MobileNet, MobileNet V2, DenseNet 121, DenseNet 201, Inception and Xception. Experimental result shown that the inception V3 architecture give the best result with accuracy for data testing 84%, accuracy for unseen data 82% and confusion matrix with True positive obtained is 248, True Negative is 61, False positive is 54 and False Negative 298.

Abstract

Cardiac arrest remains a critical concern in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with alarmingly low survival rates. Early prediction of cardiac arrest is challenging due to the complexity of patient data and the temporal nature of ICU care. To address this challenge, we explore the use of Deep Learning (DL) models, specifically Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM), and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), for forecasting ICU patient heart rates. We utilize a dataset extracted from the MIMIC III database, which poses the typical challenges of irregular time series data and missing values. Our research encompasses a comprehensive methodology, including data preprocessing, model development, and performance evaluation. Data preprocessing involves regularizing and imputing missing values, as well as data normalization. The dataset is partitioned into training, testing, and validation sets to facilitate model training and evaluation. Fine-tuning of hyperparameters is conducted to optimize each DL architecture's performance. Our results reveal that the GRU architecture consistently outperforms LSTM and BiLSTM in predicting heart rates, achieving the lowest RMSE and MAE values. The findings underscore the potential of DL models, particularly GRU, in enhancing the early detection of cardiac events in ICU patients.

Abstract

Cardiomegaly is a disease in which sufferers show no symptoms and have symptoms such as shortness of breath, abnormal heartbeat and edema. Cardiomegaly will cause the sufferer's heart to pump harder than usual. Early diagnosis of cardiomegaly can help make decisions about whether the heart is abnormal or normal. In addition, due to the problem that manual examination takes time and requires human interpretation and experience, tools are needed to automatically develop and identify normal and abnormal hearts. Therefore, this study proposes cardiac chamber segmentation using 2D (two-dimensional) ultrasound convolutional neural networks for rapid cardiomegaly screening in clinical applications based on heart ultrasound examination. The proposed approach uses a CNN with a U-Net architecture model with abnormal and normal heart data. The research results obtained used the pixel matrix evaluation Avg_accuracy of 99.50%, Val_accuracy of 97.98% and Mean_IoU of 90.01%.

Abstract

Artifacts and unpredictable fetal movements can hinder clear fetal heart imaging during ultrasound scans, complicating anatomical identification. This study presents a new medical imaging approach that combines one-stage instance segmentation with ultrasound (US) video enhancement for precise fetal heart defect detection. This innovation allows real-time identification and timely medical intervention. The study acquired 100 fetal heart US videos from an Indonesian Hospital featuring cardiac septal defects, generating 1,000 frames for training, validation, and testing. Utilizing a combination of the multi-scale input reconstruction network (MIRNet) for image enhancement and YOLOv8l-seg for real-time instance segmentation, the method achieved outstanding validation results, boasting a 99.50% mAP for bounding box prediction and 98.40% for mask prediction. It delivered a remarkable real-time processing speed of 68.4 frames per second. In application to new patients, the method yielded a 65.93% mAP for bounding box prediction and 57.66% for mask prediction. This proposed approach offers a promising solution to early fetal heart defect detection using ultrasound, holding substantial potential for enhancing healthcare outcomes.
