Abstract

Adaptations were necessary as a result of the new family structure, which saw the mother taking on the role of primary breadwinner in addition to her other responsibilities. This was especially the case in order to ensure that the family continued to be financially successful. Maintaining and even improving the family economy is possible thanks to the ability of women to make use of economic resources by utilizing their social capital stock in the form of social networks that exist within the social environment. As a result, the purpose of this study is to investigate the function that women's capital plays in enhancing the economic standing of low-income families. In this investigation, a qualitative strategy is combined with a descriptive research approach. The findings demonstrated that women were able to raise the economic status of low-income families by utilizing their social capital stock in the form of social networks in the social environment. This was accomplished through the application of the concept of economic assistance to empower women through the operation of small and micro businesses. It will be easier to gain access to financial resources if one makes use of social networks and maintains positive relations with kin, among other social connections.

Abstract

The change in community occupation to dairy farmers and the increase in the number of livestock have caused environmental problems. This research focuses on the program’s function on changing the behaviour of the community in disposing of dairy cow manure from the phase of throwing it into the ditch to the phase of processing the manure into the biogas. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, with data collection techniques carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation and literature review. The biogas problem launched by the government has proven to be able to change communities behaviour in the disposal of dairy cows manure. After receiving the biogas program, the community processed the cow dung into biogas. Interestingly, the factor that contributed the most to this behavioural change is economic. This shows that the social, environmental, and economic system have related functions and cannot be separated from each other in society. There is not much research on community behaviour change that is affected by environmental sanitation and motivated by economic factors. This study also alludes to the potential for corruption in the program. This study concludes that the biogas program is able to provide opportunities for the community to save on purchasing household fuel and minimize the waste of dairy cow waste into rivers. Apart from that, the biogas program could be a consideration for the government in creating new programs related to environmental sanitation, especially in the rural livestock industry.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Realitas Kemiskinan, Konstruksi Sosial, Masyarakat Desa Adat ABSTRACTThis article explains the social construction of poverty in the Kuta Traditional Village community, Ciamis Regency, by exploring the social reality of poverty in traditional communities and the process of social construction of poverty in these traditional villages. Abstract

Desa Migran Produktif (Desmigratif) program aims to empower Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMW) and their families in managing remittances productively to improve welfare and reduce circular migration. However, the implementation in Pati Regency still faces various obstacles. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Desmigratif Program using a Logic Model approach that includes inputs, activities, outputs, outcomes, and impacts, and analyzes empowerment using Perkins' theory. The method used is qualitative with an evaluative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results show that the program has provided assistants, migration services, and productive business training, but is still constrained by limited resources and funding. Migration services and training have been running, but the application of business skills is still limited. Awareness of safe migration has increased, but utilization of remittances for productive businesses is still low. The long-term impact of reducing circular migration has not been significant. Supporting factors include government support and community participation, while the main constraints are the lack of local regulations, limited capital, and suboptimal coordination. Recommendations include strengthening the capacity of officers, mentoring PMI, optimizing program implementation, and improving regulations and funding support for program sustainability.

Abstract

Children aged 6 – 12 years are experiencing a new phase and need support from their families, especially their parents. Children will be very dependent on their parents because they are the people who have the closest relationship to the child. Therefore, parents must be able to motivate children and also provide support in facing new challenges in different environments. These challenges will certainly become new stressors for parents and children, as children will often make mistakes because they are still developing. Therefore, parents often apply physical punishment with the intention of correcting a child's behavior or mistakes. However, physical punishment applied by parents can have negative effects such as physical or mental injuries, and even damage to the relationship between parents and children. Even people who use physical punishment are often not aware that this method is considered child abuse behavior. Therefore, social workers have an important role in helping children as victims. Social workers can build trust with children through art therapy or play therapy. In this way, children realize that they are not alone and that not all adults have bad intentions so they can be trusted. Keywords: children, corporal punishment, parents, social workers

Abstract

Social changes within Sufism occurring in urban environments have become an increasingly important topic in religious studies and current societal dynamics. This study explores the process of appointing new and prominent scholars (rising stars) in cities and their impact on the structure and development of Sufi communities. The research method used is library research, relying on data from various books and previous studies as primary sources, with a qualitative approach that includes in-depth interviews, active observation, and secondary data analysis. This study identifies key factors influencing the emergence of new scholars in urban environments, such as changes in spiritual preferences, the role of social media, and the impact of popular culture. The findings indicate that the selection of rising star scholars is driven by the urban community's need for a spiritual figure who can align Sufi teachings with the demands of modernity. Furthermore, the study reveals shifts in the power and spiritual authority structure within urban communities, where new scholars often leverage digital platforms to enhance their influence. The influence of contemporary scholars on urban societal transformation in the context of urban Sufism has two sides. On one hand, they can bring positive innovation and social engagement. On the other hand, potential fragmentation, commercialization, and conflict with tradition also need to be considered. This research provides insights into how the Sufi tradition adapts in urban contexts and the development of spiritual leadership.

Abstract

Kata Kunci:  Sosiologi Nafkah, Keluarga, Pekerja Penggilingan Keliling, Persaingan PasarABSTRACT  Agriculture is a vital sector in rural communities, providing both food and livelihoods. One crucial post-harvest process is rice milling, which has undergone significant transformation with the emergence of mobile rice milling machines. In Mancon Village, Nganjuk Regency, this phenomenon has led to competition among 19 mobile rice milling units operating within the same work area. This study aims to analyze the livelihood strategies of families whose primary occupation is mobile rice milling and explore the reasons behind these strategies. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the study draws on the theories of livelihood strategies and livelihood sociology. The findings reveal that families engaged in mobile rice milling are able to sustain their livelihoods and achieve a relatively prosperous standard of living. Strategies include working independently without assistants, involving family members in the business, and maximizing the use of milling equipment to support household income. These results highlight how adaptive livelihood strategies play a crucial role in ensuring economic survival and improving the quality of life in the face of local competition. Keywords: Family, Livelihood Sociology, Rice miller-vehicle workers, Market Competition
