Abstract

Nutritional problems occur in various forms, such as thin children (wasting), short children (stunting), and children who are overweight. The most nutritional problem that occurs in children is stunting at 23.8%. Nutrition education is important to improve eating habits and correct food choices. Providing nutrition education can not only increase knowledge but can also change health behavior. Providing education is also provided for handling and preventing stunting. East Nusa Tenggara has a fairly high stunting rate. Therefore, currently the Kupang Regency government is aggressively implementing various programs to reduce stunting rates. Efforts to prevent cases of stunting can be done through providing MP-ASI intake for babies and toddlers as well as changing lifestyle patterns. In fact, partners' knowledge about MP-ASI nutrition which can prevent stunting is very minimal. Residents also have minimal information regarding the processing of nutritious MP-ASI. The solution offered to partners is to provide education about MP-ASI nutrition to prevent stunting, the characteristics of toddlers who experience stunting, short and long term impacts, and how to handle stunting cases, the benefits of MP-ASI and processing nutritious MP-ASI for babies. and child

Abstract

The Nekamese region has the potential for coconut trees that are traditionally converted into coconut oil. Traditional coconut oil is of poor quality in terms of health and requires a lot of energy to produce. While coconut can be processed into pure oil and when sold, it will be more expensive. One way to process virgin coconut oil is by fermentation. Such knowledge is exactly what the community needs. But the partners do not have knowledge about processing pure coconut oil. Therefore, the proposed solution for partners is to organize training on pure coconut oil production.

Abstract

The public greatly anticipates using plastic trash to increase the compressive strength of concrete blocks so they can change form and stop polluting the environment. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how adding PET plastic trash to concrete affects its compressive strengths. Experimental techniques were used in this investigation, including in-lab tests. Afterwards, testing processes in the lab were used to assess the research results. The compressive strength of normal concrete has a value of 25 MPa which reaches the design compressive strength value, while the concrete variation of 1% PET plastic is 23 MPa, 2% PET plastic is 21 MPa, and 3% PET plastic is 19 MPa which does not reach the compressive strength value. plan. This shows that PET plastic waste mixed with concrete results in a decrease in the compressive strength of concrete from normal concrete.

Abstract

Utilization of new technologies in asphalt mixture production includes soaking technologies that can enhance mechanical properties of the mixture. This research aims to evaluate pavement vulnerability to water and the environmental quality impact due to waste from used rubber tires as an effort to strengthen pavements by substituting asphalt. The variables studied are variations of used rubber tire waste at 0%, 2%, 3%, and 4% replacing asphalt content in AC-BC mixtures. Testing was conducted using the Marshall method by soaking the mixtures in water for normal duration, 30 minutes, 24 hours, and 72 hours. The test results indicate that higher percentages of used rubber tire waste and longer soaking durations lead to a decrease in AC-BC mixture characteristics. The Marshall value of the AC-BC mixture with 2% used rubber tire waste was found to be superior compared to mixtures with 0%, 3%, and 4%. From the data analysis conducted, it can be concluded that water has a negative influence on the Marshall value reduction of mixtures containing used rubber tire waste, correlating with increased soaking duration.

Abstract

Mixing temperature has an important role in the performance of the asphalt mixture that has been made. If the mixing temperature is too low and causes the viscosity value to be high, it will make it difficult to carry out asphalt mixing and was studied in the laboratory for two months which aims to determine the effect of mixing temperature variations on the value of marshall parameters and determine the effect of temperature variations on the performance of AC-WC asphalt pavement mixing. Characteristics of Temperature Variations in AC-BC asphalt mixtures for temperature variations of 140, 150 and 160, from the results of testing vim at a temperature of 160 with a value of 6.63 does not meet specifications, at a VFB value at a temperature of 160 does not meet specifications with a VFB value of 64.25, for the value of stablity, VMA, flow, MQ all meet specifications. so it can be concluded that the greater the temperature can make the asphalt mixture ineffective or the quality of the AC-BC asphalt decreases. The effect of temperature variation on AC-BC asphalt mixture is not optimal because the greater the temperature parameter can reduce the quality of AC-BC. The results of the proof of the marshal test of several temperature variations that do not meet the specifications make some marsall tests not pass specifications and density results that are not solid.

Abstract

Concrete is an artificial stone made from a mixture of cement, sand, aggregate and water. For this reason, this construction material is considered very important to continue to be developed. One effort to develop is by improving the weak properties of the concrete itself. From this, researchers will use additional materials such as fiber palm fiber and sika visconcrate in the concrete mixture. Fiber fiber itself has durable properties and does not rot easily in open conditions or embedded in the ground, while sika visconcrate is a chemical that is used as an additive in the mixture to increase the workability, quality and strength of concrete with the desired properties. The method used in this research is quantitative experimentation. The aim of this research is to determine the characteristics of concrete using palm fiber and sika visconcrate with variations of 3%, 5% and 7% from normal concrete. The results of the research show that the average compressive strength of normal concrete is 25,572 MPa, 3% SI+SV variation concrete has an average of 27,365 MPa, 5% SI+SV variation concrete has an average of 26,704 MPa, and 7% SI+ SV variation concrete The average is 26,044 MPa. The split tensile strength test results of normal concrete averaged 6.074 MPa, 3% SI+SV variation concrete averaged 6.444 MPa, 5% SI+SV variation concrete averaged 7.852 MPa, and 7% variation concrete averaged amounting to 8,148 MPa.

Abstract

Concrete is a rock made from a mixture of cement, sand, aggregate and water. For this reason, this construction material is very important to develop. One effort to develop it is by utilizing industrial waste. Like other industrial waste, wood ash waste can also be used as a partial replacement for cement. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of adding wood ash as an additive to cement on the compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete, as well as to determine the effect of varying the percentage of wood ash in the concrete mixture on the compressive strength and split tensile strength of concrete. The type of research used in this research is quantitative research with experimental methods, namely by comparing normal concrete with 3 variations of mixture to determine the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of the concrete. The results of the research showed that the experimental compressive strength and split tensile strength of concrete on normal concrete and variations of 3 mixtures, namely 2%, 4% and 6% of cement, obtained experimental results on the compressive strength of concrete for 28 days of normal concrete with an average of the average of 25,478 Mpa decreased with a 2% variation with an average of 24,723 Mpa, and decreased drastically for a 4% variation with an average of 19,439 Mpa, and for a 6% variation with an average of 18,967 MPa. Meanwhile, in testing the split tensile strength of normal concrete with an average of 7.185 Mpa, it experienced an increase from normal concrete with a variation of 2% with an average of 7.333 Mpa, and experienced a decrease from normal concrete with a variation of 4% with an average of 6.667 Mpa, and 6%. with an average of 6 Mpa. So it can be concluded that concrete with a variation of 2% wood ash does not really affect the compressive strength of the concrete, but the more wood ash that is added, the compressive strength of the concrete will decrease. From this research it can be concluded that the use of wood ash does not achieve the planned compressive strength so it is not suitable for use in construction.

Abstract

Parepare City is located on the coast with significant fisheries and maritime potential. The processing and consumption of shellfish in this city produces a lot of shellfish waste, which is often not utilized and accumulates into an environmental problem. To improve the properties of concrete, several types of additives that have certain functions are added to the concrete mixture, namely increasing the workability, durability, and hardening time of concrete. This study aims to determine the compressive strength of concrete and the composition of coarse aggregate of shells with superplasticizer added materials that are optimally produced. Using an experimental method carried out at the Laboratory of Structure and Materials, Muhammadiyah University of Parepare. The results showed that substitution of coarse aggregate with 5% shellfish waste and 0.5% superplasticizer increased the compressive strength of concrete at the ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The 10% substitution still meets the compressive strength requirements at 28 days, although slightly lower than normal concrete. Substitution of shells up to 5% increases the compressive strength of concrete, and the 10% content is optimal, reaching the maximum value without significant decline. It is recommended that the use of shells as a substitute for coarse aggregate does not exceed 10% for optimal results and meets the planned compressive strength of 25 MPa.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to show the yield, quality, and the fatty acids composition of VCO produced from coconut growing in several location having different altitudes in West Timor. In addition, it also determined the correlation between the yield, quality, and the composition at one side and the altitude at other side. The coconut samples were taken from six locations at different altitudes. Virgin coconut oil is fermented using baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The oil yield was calculated based on the oil volume ratio to the coconut cream volume, and the composition of fatty acid was then determined by a gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometer (GC-MS). The results showed that the quality of VCO obtained in this study is very good based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) No. 7381:2008. The higher the growing location of coconut, the oil yield decreases slightly, the peroxide number increases slightly, the water content and free fatty acids are decrease. The correlation between the altitude of the coconut growing location and the fatty acid composition: lauric acid (strong and positive); palmitic and oleic acids (strong and negative); linoleic acid (very strong and negative); capric, myristic, and stearic acids (very weak and negative).
