Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran biologi berbasis Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) topik keanekaragaman hayati dalam peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi siswa.Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design.Variabel bebas pada penelitian ini adalah penggunaan model pembelajaran Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI). Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA N 1 Sanden, Bantul. Sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas, yaitu kelas X5 yang terpilih sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X6 yang terpilih sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data kemampuan argumentasi siswa menggunakan tes dalam bentuk soal uraian. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah Uji Mann-Whitney, Uji Jarak Bertanda Wilcoxon, Uji Independent Sample t-test, dan Uji Effect Size.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) berpengaruh dalam peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi siswa pada topik keanekaragaman hayati. Hal ini berarti siswa berhasil mencapai tujuan-tujuan yang ditargetkan dalam pembelajaran model ADI.  Kata kunci: model Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI), kemampuan argumentasi siswa

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi sains mata pelajaran Biologi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri di Kota Yogyakarta dan menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains mata pelajaran Biologi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri pada sekolah sangat favorit, favorit dan kurang favorit di Kota Yogyakarta berdasarkan indikator literasi sains PISA 2018. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif dengan metode survei. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA dari sebelas SMA Negeri di Kota Yogyakarta. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA di SMA Negeri 1 Yogyakarta, SMA Negeri 2 Yogyakarta, SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta, SMA Negeri 5 Yogyakarta, dan SMA Negeri 11 Yogyakarta berjumlah 198 siswa yang diperoleh melalui teknik random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes literasi sains pada konten biologi dengan indikator kompetensi PISA 2018. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistika deskriptif untuk menghitung skor literasi sains yang diperoleh siswa dan statistika inferensial dengan statistika non parametrik yaitu Uji Kruskall Walis untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata skor literasi sains pada sekolah sangat favorit, favorit, dan kurang favorit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri di Kota Yogyakarta pada mata pelajaran Biologi memiliki ratarata skor pada kategori sedang. (2) kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri di Kota Yogyakarta pada mata pelajaran Biologi memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan jika ditinjau dari kefavoritan sekolah yakni sekolah sangat favorit memiliki rata-rata skor yang lebih tinggi daripada sekolah favorit dan kurang favorit

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the four skills that must be prepared in the 21st century. The results of observations in one of the leading high schools in Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, showed that low critical thinking skills were likely caused by using learning models that were not yet relevant. One effort to develop students’ critical thinking skills is through the Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) model based on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI). This study aims to determine the effect of the SSI-based AIR model on students’ critical thinking skills about environmental pollution materials. This type of research is a quantitative quasi-experimental study with a Pre-test-Post-test control group design. The research sample was selected through cluster random sampling from the population of four Grade X science program classes. After randomization, a research sample of 72 out of 144 students was selected, and they were divided into two groups: the experimental group (SSI-based AIR) and the control group (discovery learning). Experts have validated the research instrument used. The research data analysis used the independent sample t-test or Mann-Whitney test. The results of the Mann-Whitney test analysis showed a significance value (two-tailed) of 0.012 (p 0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that applying the SSI-based AIR model has a positive impact on students’ critical thinking skills regarding environmental pollution materials. Teachers can utilize the findings of this study as an alternative to employing innovative methods in their classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of a project-based differentiated learning model on the scientific literacy of tenth-grade students in biotechnology material at SMAN 1 Turi, considering students' learning styles. The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The study involved two groups of students: the experimental group, which used the project-based differentiated learning model, and the control group, which used the discovery learning model. The results showed that the average Post-test score of the experimental group increased by 43.2%, from an average Pre-test score of 26.44 to 37.88. In contrast, the control group experienced only a 17% increase, from an average score of 29.91 to 31.41. Additionally, analysis based on learning styles revealed that students with visual learning styles experienced the highest increase in scientific literacy, followed by those with auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Overall, the application of the project-based differentiated learning model increased learning effectiveness by 76% in the experimental group compared to conventional learning methods. This study concludes that a differentiated, project-based learning model is effective in enhancing students' scientific literacy, particularly in the field of biotechnology. It highlights the importance of considering learning styles in the learning process. These findings offer practical implications for teachers in designing innovative learning experiences tailored to students' individual needs.
