Abstract

Stretching and warming up are crucial in every training session or competition in long jump athletics. This study was aimed at developing a warm-up model based on motor educability for the long jump sport. This research is a type of development with a research model procedure using Borg & Gall's five steps of the adaptation of the IOWA Brace Test to motor educability. The samples used in this research were media experts and material experts, each consisting of one person. For small group trials, there were 9 (nine) students from the Sports Science Study Program and for large group trials, there were 39 (thirty-nine) students from the Sports Coaching Education Study Program who took athletics courses. The instruments used were the 11 IOWA Brace Test motor educability items and the Standing Broad Jump test to examine effectiveness using the paired sample t test. As a result, in the expert validation step, revision, the design product has been declared feasible by the expert as well as during large and small group trials. The effectiveness test also revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean of paired samples. The results of this development also recommend several movements, namely: side learning rest, one knee balance, stroke stand, double heel kick, hop forward, forward hand kick, half squat-arm circle, side kick, russian dance, single squat balance, and jump foot. The conclusion is that of the eleven movements it is feasible to use in warm-up for the long jump sport. Future research needs to examine how this model supports athletes in improving physical fitness components.

Abstract

Training using kick pads and hanging balls are tools that are often used to improve the accuracy of top serves in the sport Sepak Takraw. Using these two tools simultaneously helps players develop control, strength and accuracy of serves which are very important in matches. The aim of this research is to find out which tool is most appropriate to use, between a kick pad or a modified hanging ball to improve the accuracy of the top serve in the Sepak Takraw sport. This research used an experimental research method of two group pre test - post test design using research subjects of Sepak Takraw extracurricular students at State High School (SMA) 4 Gorontalo, totaling ten students, with the determination of groups for the kick pad and hanging ball groups carried out randomly. The instrument in this research uses a standardized Sepak Takraw service accuracy test with several sides numbered in accordance with the provisions of the instrument. The results of this research generally show that the use of these two tools can increase the accuracy of the top serve in the Sepak Takraw sport, but in terms of average percentage, the group that uses the kick pad is superior. The conclusion from this research is clear that the use of a kick pad tool is more recommended than a hanging ball modification tool, so it is necessary to carry out another research to find out a better tool to increase the accuracy of the top serve.

Abstract

The urgency of this research stems from the fact that even professional athletes still have a moderate level of knowledge regarding sports injuries. What about novice athletes who have only recently entered the world of athletics? This is a significant question that must be answered with evidence from academic research. This study aims to identify and analyze the level of understanding of sports injuries among novice track and field athletes at Gorontalo State University. Using a descriptive survey method, the study involved 24 students who had participated in basic athletic training for at least two months. The instrument used in this study has been proven valid with an r table value of 0.514 and a significance level of 5% and a reliability of 0.922 consisting of 33 questions. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistics using SPSS version 25. After the descriptive data is obtained, it is categorized using the Five Scale Conversion (KSL) formula. The results indicate that athletes' understanding of sports injuries is generally moderate, with most having a sufficient understanding of the types of injuries. However, knowledge regarding injury management and prevention remains low. Based on descriptive statistics, most participants had a poor understanding of injury prevention measures. A deeper understanding of sports injuries, management, and prevention is crucial for reducing injury risk and improving athlete performance. This study suggests the need for better education regarding sports injuries to optimize the safety and effectiveness of athletic training
