Abstract

Training using kick pads and hanging balls are tools that are often used to improve the accuracy of top serves in the sport Sepak Takraw. Using these two tools simultaneously helps players develop control, strength and accuracy of serves which are very important in matches. The aim of this research is to find out which tool is most appropriate to use, between a kick pad or a modified hanging ball to improve the accuracy of the top serve in the Sepak Takraw sport. This research used an experimental research method of two group pre test - post test design using research subjects of Sepak Takraw extracurricular students at State High School (SMA) 4 Gorontalo, totaling ten students, with the determination of groups for the kick pad and hanging ball groups carried out randomly. The instrument in this research uses a standardized Sepak Takraw service accuracy test with several sides numbered in accordance with the provisions of the instrument. The results of this research generally show that the use of these two tools can increase the accuracy of the top serve in the Sepak Takraw sport, but in terms of average percentage, the group that uses the kick pad is superior. The conclusion from this research is clear that the use of a kick pad tool is more recommended than a hanging ball modification tool, so it is necessary to carry out another research to find out a better tool to increase the accuracy of the top serve.

Abstract

The urgency of this research stems from the fact that even professional athletes still have a moderate level of knowledge regarding sports injuries. What about novice athletes who have only recently entered the world of athletics? This is a significant question that must be answered with evidence from academic research. This study aims to identify and analyze the level of understanding of sports injuries among novice track and field athletes at Gorontalo State University. Using a descriptive survey method, the study involved 24 students who had participated in basic athletic training for at least two months. The instrument used in this study has been proven valid with an r table value of 0.514 and a significance level of 5% and a reliability of 0.922 consisting of 33 questions. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistics using SPSS version 25. After the descriptive data is obtained, it is categorized using the Five Scale Conversion (KSL) formula. The results indicate that athletes' understanding of sports injuries is generally moderate, with most having a sufficient understanding of the types of injuries. However, knowledge regarding injury management and prevention remains low. Based on descriptive statistics, most participants had a poor understanding of injury prevention measures. A deeper understanding of sports injuries, management, and prevention is crucial for reducing injury risk and improving athlete performance. This study suggests the need for better education regarding sports injuries to optimize the safety and effectiveness of athletic training

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to compare two variations of the skipping training method, namely basic foot skipping and alternating foot skipping. The quasi-experimental research method was used in this study and is quantitative. The instrument used in this study was the Bleep Test. The population in this study was 18 athletes who were the entire sample. The population in this study were athletic athletes in the running category in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. As a result, both training methods contributed to increasing the cardiovascular endurance of athletes, with the Alternating Foot Skipping group showing a greater increase to the Very Good category compared to Basic Skipping. However, based on statistical tests, there is insufficient evidence to state that one exercise is more effective than the other in increasing cardiovascular endurance. This study shows that both variations of training can be applied in training programs for running athletes, but the choice of training should be adjusted to the preferences and specific goals of the athlete to achieve optimal results in order to also target the dominant things for the running number

Abstract

Injuries represent a major risk factor affecting the performance and long-term development of student-athletes. However, empirical data on injury patterns and injury management knowledge among student-athletes in local contexts remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the injury profile in terms of type, location, and cause of injury, as well as the knowledge of injury management in student athletes in Bengkulu City. Methods: A quantitative descriptive method using a survey technique. Fifty-three student athletes from 9 sports were sampled using purposive sampling. The instruments consisted of a multi-response questionnaire and a multiple-choice test that had undergone validity, reliability, difficulty, and item difference tests. Data were analyzed descriptively using percentages. Results: A total of 137 injuries were recorded among student athletes in Bengkulu City, with sprains (29%), bruises (23%), and strains (21%). The lower extremities, with the ankle area (15.33%), were the most common injury sites. Most injuries occurred during training (83%), with the primary cause being external violence (39.63%), such as high-impact or high-intensity sports, and the condition of the infrastructure. Knowledge of injury management was categorized as "sufficient" (52.83%), "good" (22.64%), "very good" (9.43%), and "poor" (15.09%). Conclusion: The findings indicate that ankle sprains are the most common injury among student athletes. Of the 137 recorded injuries, the majority involved the lower extremities. Injuries frequently occur during training and are caused by external violence. The risk of injury varies from sport to sport, depending on the characteristics of the sport. Furthermore, the level of knowledge regarding injury management among athletes in Bengkulu City is in the "sufficient" category, indicating the need for educational interventions to improve athletes' understanding of sports injury prevention and management.
