Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine how effective the Inquiry Social Complexity (ISC) model is in increasing critical thinking in elementary schools. The Inquiry Social Complexity (ISC) learning model is a way of learning that focuses on the use of critical thinking and social complexity to identify and resolve dilemmas. Critical intelligence means cognitive skills that demonstrate a high level of thinking skills, involving analysis, drawing conclusions, and assessing the problem-solving process, which is one of the important competencies in the 21st century. This study uses a quantitative approach using the Pratung Pre-Experimental design. The design applied is the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. After the treatment was given, the average homogeneous value obtained was 78.11, while the t-test results gave a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.00 with a significance level of 5%. These results indicate that sig (2-tailed) is less than 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This means that there is a significant disparity between the pretest and posttest. The conclusion of this study is an example of Inquiry Social Complexity (ISC) learning that has effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills of students in PPKn subjects at Elementary School 1, class V, Natar District. In addition, the analysis with the n-gain test produced an n-gain of 0.511 which is classified as moderate, which strengthens the acceptance of the other method hypothesis (Hα). This confirms that there has been a significant disparity between the pretest and posttest, regarding the effectiveness of the Inquiry Social Complexity (ISC) learning model on students' thinking skills in PPKn subjects at SDN 1, class V, Natar District.

Abstract

The pedagogical approach to science education at SDN 1 Labuhan Ratu, Lampung province, Indonesia, has traditionally been rooted in didactic methods and rote memorization, a paradigm that has proven insufficient for cultivating higher-order cognitive skills and inquiry-based learning. This instructional framework has been directly correlated with suboptimal levels of scientific literacy among a cohort of 33 fourth-grade students. To address this gap, this study's primary objective was to design, develop, and validate an innovative AI-integrated Inquiry Social Complexity (ISC) learning module intended to elevate students' scientific literacy. The research methodology was grounded in the ADDIE developmental model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to ensure a systematic and rigorous creation process. The integration of artificial intelligence was instrumental in personalizing learning trajectories, scaffolding complex inquiry tasks, and delivering instantaneous, needs-based feedback, thereby enriching the core ISC framework. The module’s efficacy was substantiated through a comprehensive validation process, which confirmed its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Empirical data from its implementation revealed a statistically significant enhancement in students’ scientific literacy, evidenced by an average N-gain score of 0.73, which signifies a high level of effectiveness. This research provides a valuable contribution to educational discourse by demonstrating the synergistic potential of AI and social inquiry within primary science education. The resultant module offers a transformative pedagogical model that cultivates critical, reflective, and collaborative competencies. Its broad adoption is advocated for in curriculum reform efforts, particularly within resource-constrained educational environments where innovative and adaptable instructional solutions are of paramount importance.

Abstract

Hypothetical Subjects in Curriculum Structure for Developing Managerial Competencies in Educational Technology. This study aims to understand better one of instructional technology domain: managing. This topic is critical to be learned for better understanding and to have a proper basic theory for developing a curriculum structure of field study, especially to build management competencies. Then, we could propose an alternative for the improvement of the curriculum that has a theoretical foundation. The study used a qualitative approach by applying the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method, a critical analysis of the content of discourse objects that are text, gap, and potential aspect may be, and then proposed an alternative for taking action. Results show; first, there are four subdomains for managing instructional technology, with each orientation and characteristics. Second, Seels and Richey's subdomain of managing instructional technology could guide the study program's curriculum structure development. Third, in case of curriculum of Educational Technology Study Program, Faculty of Education, UPI there are gap between theoretical and document. To overcome the gap in developing instructional technology competencies in managing domain, we propose adding at least one relevant course for the primary and holistic foundation of managing aspect in curriculum structure of Educational Technology Program. Keywords: curriculum, educational technology, critical discourse analysis.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202468
