Abstract

Learning discipline is one of the key factors that determine students’ academic achievement, particularly at the junior high school level. Students with high discipline tend to be more organized in managing their time, more focused on learning, and more consistent in completing academic tasks. This study aims to analyze the level of learning discipline among eighth-grade students at SMPN 4 Rancaekek in the 2024/2025 academic year, as well as to identify the factors influencing their discipline. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a total population of 411 eighth-grade students, using a saturated sampling technique in which all students were included as respondents. The research instrument was developed based on several indicators of learning discipline, namely punctuality, compliance with academic rules, task completion, and positive academic behavior. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods to portray the overall profile of students’ learning discipline. The findings reveal that most students fall into the moderate category across all aspects of learning discipline, while only a small proportion fall into the low category, and some achieve a high level of discipline. These results indicate that although a culture of discipline has been established at SMPN 4 Rancaekek, it has not yet reached an optimal level. Both external factors, such as family support and social environment, and internal factors, such as motivation and personal character, significantly influence the students’ discipline. Therefore, strengthening strategies through consistent habituation, the active role of teachers, parental involvement, and appropriate reinforcement are needed to enhance students’ discipline. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for schools in designing effective policies and programs to foster students’ learning discipline and to support their optimal academic achievement

Abstract

Background/purpose. The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program is a higher education policy designed to foster student autonomy through experiential learning across campuses and industry settings. However, student participation in this program remains suboptimal, potentially influenced by internal factors such as self-efficacy and learning readiness. This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy and student readiness on the interest in participating in the MBKM program at Ma’soem University.Materials/methods. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 318 active undergraduate students. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire, which had undergone validity and reliability testing using SPSS. Data were collected both in person and via Google Forms, following a prior explanation of the study's purpose and instructions for completion. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of JASP software, preceded by classical assumption testing as prerequisites.Results. The results indicate that self-efficacy and student readiness jointly have a significant influence on students’ interest in participating in the MBKM program, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.517, equivalent to 51.7%. The resulting regression equation is Ŷ = 4.436 + 0.487X₁ + 0.475X₂, demonstrating a positive contribution of both variables to student interest.Conclusion. Self-efficacy and learning readiness significantly affect students’ interest in participating in the MBKM program. These findings highlight the importance for higher education administrators to strengthen the development of students’ personal and academic capacities to promote active participation in the MBKM policy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of father involvement on the academic self-efficacy of 10th grade students at SMAN Jatinangor in the 2024–2025 academic year. The background of the study is based on the importance of the father's role in supporting the development of a child's self-belief in the academic context. This research employed a quantitative approach using a simple linear regression method. The sample consisted of 238 students selected based on specific criteria, namely those who live with both their biological father and mother. The instruments used included a father involvement questionnaire based on Hawkins et al. (2002) and an academic self-efficacy questionnaire based on Bandura’s theory (1997). The results showed that both father involvement and students' academic self-efficacy were in the moderate category. The regression test produced a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.158. This indicates that father involvement contributes 15.8% to students’ academic self-efficacy, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of father involvement on students’ academic self-efficacy. This research has implications for parents, educators, and schools to enhance father involvement as an essential factor in supporting children's academic success

Abstract

Abstract

Despite extensive research on parenting styles and student discipline, empirical studies that explicitly examine gender-based differences in this relationship remain limited, particularly at the junior secondary school level in Indonesia. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the relationship between parenting styles and student discipline when viewed from the child’s gender, thereby offering a more nuanced understanding of parental influence in character development. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 212 ninth-grade students of SMP Al-Ma’soem in the 2025–2026 academic year, consisting of 124 male students and 88 female students. Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires measuring parenting styles and student discipline. Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant relationship between parenting styles and discipline among male students (ρ = 0.177; p = 0.049), although the strength of the relationship was very low. In contrast, no significant relationship was found among female students (ρ = 0.024; p = 0.826). These findings highlight gender-specific patterns in the association between parenting styles and student discipline, suggesting that parental influence tends to be more salient for male students, while female students’ discipline may be shaped more strongly by internal regulation and broader environmental factors. The study contributes theoretically to guidance and counseling literature by emphasizing the importance of incorporating gender perspectives in parental involvement strategies aimed at fostering student discipline.
