The results obtained are that parents and posyandu cadres gain knowledge about the characteristics of early childhood, early childhood development tasks, and the importance of this developmental task being carried out well, parents and posyandu cadres understand better how to provide stimulus and also apply parenting patterns to early childhood, as well as creating better communication relationships and parenting patterns in dealing with early childhood.

Abstract

This study explores parental involvement in supporting students’ learning processes using a mixed-methods approach. The population comprised 645 students of SMP Al Ma’soem, with 247 students selected as the sample using Slovin’s formula at a 5% margin of error. The sample was proportionally distributed based on grade level and gender. Quantitative data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained via semi-structured interviews. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze quantitative data, and thematic analysis was applied to qualitative findings. The results show that parental involvement is generally categorized as high to very high. Among the measured indicators, motivation and emotional support received the highest mean scores. Qualitative findings further indicate that students perceive parental involvement as attention, moral encouragement, and supervision that positively influence their motivation, discipline, and overall learning engagement. However, excessive parental control may generate pressure and negatively affect students’ learning experiences. These findings underscore the importance of balanced, supportive, and communicative parental involvement. Schools are encouraged to strengthen partnerships with parents to foster a conducive and sustainable learning environment.

Abstract

Abstract

Despite extensive research on parenting styles and student discipline, empirical studies that explicitly examine gender-based differences in this relationship remain limited, particularly at the junior secondary school level in Indonesia. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the relationship between parenting styles and student discipline when viewed from the child’s gender, thereby offering a more nuanced understanding of parental influence in character development. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 212 ninth-grade students of SMP Al-Ma’soem in the 2025–2026 academic year, consisting of 124 male students and 88 female students. Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires measuring parenting styles and student discipline. Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed a positive and statistically significant relationship between parenting styles and discipline among male students (ρ = 0.177; p = 0.049), although the strength of the relationship was very low. In contrast, no significant relationship was found among female students (ρ = 0.024; p = 0.826). These findings highlight gender-specific patterns in the association between parenting styles and student discipline, suggesting that parental influence tends to be more salient for male students, while female students’ discipline may be shaped more strongly by internal regulation and broader environmental factors. The study contributes theoretically to guidance and counseling literature by emphasizing the importance of incorporating gender perspectives in parental involvement strategies aimed at fostering student discipline.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the continued presence of unempathetic behavior in the social interactions of students at MTs Ar-Raudloh Cileunyi, such as teasing one another, laughing at classmates who are sad, and the formation of exclusive friendship groups. This study aims to describe peer social interactions, student empathy, and the relationship between the two. A quantitative correlational method was used, involving 155 students from MTs Ar-Raudloh Cileunyi as respondents through total sampling. Data collection was conducted using a social interaction scale and an empathy scale, while data analysis employed descriptive statistics and the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. The results indicate that peer social interaction falls into the high category (80.6%) and student empathy falls into the high category (72.3%). The results of the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between peer social interaction and student empathy (r = 0.654; p < 0.000). These findings indicate that the better the peer social interaction, the higher the level of student empathy.
