Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the effect of controlled release fertilizer application, soil conditioner and theinteraction of these two treatments on vegetative growth and nutrient uptake nitrogen and phosphorus of oil palmseedlings. The experiment was conducted in Research Department of First Resources Ltd, Riau in April 2013 untilJanuary 2014. Research design of the study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) two factors with 3replications. The first factor was the controlled release fertilizer application/CRF (P) as follows: P1: SR NPKMg 15-15-6-4, P2: CRF NPKMg 17-8-9-3, P3: CRF NPKMg 18-8-8-2, P4: CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3. The second factor was theapplication of soil conditioner (H) is H0 : Control, H: Liquid formulations of Bacillus sp, H2: Humic acid granularformulations, H3: Liquid formulations endopalma. The results showed that fertilization treatment CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3 is treatment that gives the higher all vegetative growth parameters and all nutrient uptake parameters. Soil conditionertreatment granular humic acid gives the higher for crown dry weight, root dry, root volume and plant height. Interactionof CRF NPKMg 20-6-14-3 with control gives the higher for seed quality index, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf areaand nutrient uptake parameters include nitrogen and phosphorus.

Abstract

The purpose of this researchis to determine the effect of several doses of Trichocompost TKKS and to obtain the best dose for the growth of coffee arabica seedlings. This research has been conducted at the experimental farm, Agriculture Faculty of Riau University. This research started from March to June 2016. The research arranged experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consist of 4 treatments and 5 replications so there are 20 experimental units. Each of the experimental unit consisted of 2 seedlings, so there are 40 seedlings. The treatments were tested of Trichocompost TKKS dose22,35 g/polybag, 33,525 g/polybag, 44,70 g/polybag, and 55,875 g/polybag. The data was analyzed statistically and followed by DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters measured was height of seedlings, number of leaves, leaves area, root crown ratio, and root volume. The result showed that the aplication of Trichocompost TKKS dose of 44,7 g/polybag give the best effect on the growth of coffee arabica seedlings. Keywords : Coffee Arabica seedling, Trichocompost, TKKS

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the interaction of compost TKKS and P fertilizer as well as finding the best dozage of chose on the growth of oil palm seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This research was carried out at the Agricultural Faculty University of Riau Bina Widya Campus KM 12,5 Simpang Baru Tampan district, Pekanbaru. This research was 4 month start in August 2016 through Nopember 2016. This research utilize CRD (Completely Roudomized Design) which 2 factors. First factor is compositing of TKKS wich 3 level. Second factor is fertilizer P dozage wich 3 level. Both factor gave 9 treatment combination and wich 3 replication, so there are 27 experimental units. Each experimental units have 2 seedling, so that there were 54 seedling. Parameters observed were the plant height, number of leaves, seedling diameter, leaf area, root volume of seedlings, dry weight of seedling and root canopy ratio. Data were analyzed statiscally with variance and continued with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The result of this research showed the interaction of compost fertilizer TKKS and P fertillizer give good influence to all parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, root volume of seedling, dry weight of seedling and root canopy area in oil palm nursery age 7 months. Keyword : Oilpalm, Compost TKKS, Fertilizer P

Abstract

Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is a plant cultivated in Riau Province especially Siak district such as Tualang and Bunga Raya. However, productivity of dragon fruit is still low because attacks of diseases infection. The aim of the research is determine the diseases, the cause of the diseases and their intensity caused by fungi on the red dragon fruit plants. Based on the observation, the diseases that infected the dragon fruit plants are anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum sp., stem rot diseases by Sclerotium sp., and fusarium wilt by Fusarium sp., and orange spot diseases on fruit by Alternaria sp. The intensity of the disease attacks the dragon fruit in Bunga Raya higher  than in Tualang, i.e : 50% of anthracnose disease, 60% stem of rot disease, 30% of layu fusarium, 17,5% of orange spots on the fruit. While the intensity of the diseases in Tualang are 57.5% of anthracnose, 50% of stem rot diseases, 30% of fusarium wilt, and 15% orange spots on the fruit. Keywords : red dragon fruit plants, fungal disease, disease intensity

Abstract

Rubber plants (Hevea brasiliensis) is a important crop plantations in Indonesia and because contributor offoreign exchange after oil palm. The study aimed to examine the effect of bio-fertilizer formulations powder containactive Bacillus sp. and get the best formulations on the growth of rubber seedlings (Hevea brasiliensis) mini stumb. Theresearch was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology Faculty of Agriculture and the technical implementationunit of agriculture faculty of Riau University, in December 2014 until May 2015. The methods of research is experimentallywith using completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The data were analyzed statisticallywith using analysis of variance and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test at level á = 5%. The parametersmeasured were increase of seedling height increment, stem circumference, in the number of leaves, the ratio of crownroots and dry weight. The results of the research showing aplication formulations of Bacillus sp. were tested hassignificant effect on seedling height increment and the number of leaves but not real effect on stem circumference, theratio of crown roots and dry weight. Formulations Bacillus sp. with material peat is the best formulation to influenceseedling height increment and the number of leaves seed rubber mini stumb.

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that infect and live in plant tissue, including oil palm plant tissue. There are many species of endophytic bacteria living inside tissue oil palm plant which play a beneficial role for plant. One of the bacteria is Bacillus sp. Bacillus sp. can be used as a biological pesticide and biological fertilizers which is useful for plants. The purpose of the research is to observe the characteristics of the endophytic Bacillus sp. Plants samples was taken by survey method. The location of sampling was at the district of Asahan North Sumatera. Isolation was performed from oil palm plant organs such as root, stems and leaves of oil palm plants.  Results showed that the morphological characterization such as colony color, colonies form and  colonies edges of the bacteria had similarities each others, but there was a difference on the surface of morphology colony. Six isolates had a convex surface and  six  isolates had a flat surface. Physiology assay results such as catalase test, oxidase test, starch hydrolysis test, motility test and test of temperature on the growth of the bacteria showed a positive result on the each isolate. Characterization results showed a morphological and physiological similarities to the characteristics of Bacillus subtillis.

Abstract

One of affected factor in oil palm seeds quality in main nursery was fertilization. One of organic fertilizer can be used was a biofertilizer. Theresearch aims to determine the effect and to obtain the best formulation of biofertilizer based on plant waste oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seeds growth in main nursery. The research was conducted from March to June 2014. This research used to Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consists of 5 treatments with 4 replication, then obtained 20 experimental units. Treatment given was: without biofertilizer formulation; Bacillus sp. + Pseudomonas fluorescens + liquid waste rice + 1 % chitin + 10 % molasses; Bacillus sp. + Pseudomonas fluorescens + tofu liquid waste+ 1 % chitin + 10 % molasses;Bacillus sp. + Pseudomonas fluorescens + sago liquid waste + 1 % chitin + 10 % molasses; Bacillus sp. + Pseudomonas fluorescens + PKS liquid waste + 1 % chitin + 10 % molasses. Parameters measured were increase of seed high, increase of midrib number, increase stump diameter, root volume, root crown ratio and dry seeds weight. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by DNMRT further test at 5% level. The results of the research showed, the several formulationof biofertilizers basedon plant waste effected on all observed parameters, but not effected on increase of midrib number. Biofertilizer formulations based on tofuliquid waste and PKS liquidwaste showed better results on all observed parameters.

Abstract

Proteolytic bacteria are able to hydrolyze proteins into amino acid and smaller peptides. The objective of this study to determine the abilty of three Bacillus sp. isolated from leaf (BD), root (BA), and stem (BP) of palm oil to produce protease. The proteolytic activity was determine based on the amount of tyrosin liberated in Unit/mL, while the specific activity was indicated by activity per unit weight of proteins. Protein concentration of enzymes extracts was determined by Lowry method. The results showed that all isolates were able to produce protease. Protease activity of Bacillus sp. BD, BA and BP was (711,260 ± 0,735) x 10-3 U/mL, (708,536 ± 0,918) x 10-3 U/mL and (710,027 ± 0,091) x 10-3 U/mL in optimal production times of 24 hours, repectively.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari interaksi pemberian Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi dan pupuk nitrogen, pengaruh utama keduanya terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum. L) pada lahan gambut serta serapan hara N. Penelitian dilakukan secara ekperimen dalam bentuk faktorial 4 x 3 disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Faktor pertama yaitu Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi yang terdiri dari 4 taraf (15, 20, 25, dan 30 ton/ha) dan faktor ke dua yaitu pupuk nitrogen yang terdiri dari 3 taraf (150, 250, dan 350 kg/ha). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi 30 ton/ha dan pupuk nitrogen 350 kg N/ha meningkatkan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel secara nyata. Peningkatan dosis Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi dari 15 ke 30 ton/ha meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel. Peningkatan dosis pupuk nitrogen dari 150 ke 350 kg N/ha meningkatkan tinggi tanaman dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh interaksi pemberian Trichokompos tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) terformulasi dan pupuk kalium, pengaruh utama keduanya terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L.) di lahan gambut. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen dalam bentuk faktorial 4 x 3 disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi sebagai faktor I terdiri dari 4 taraf (15, 20, 25 dan 30 ton/ha) dan pupuk kalium sebagai faktor II terdiri dari 3 taraf (50, 100 dan 150 kg K₂O/ha). Parameter yang diamati antara lain tinggi tanaman, jumlah umbi berdasarkan kriteria diameter dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian 25 ton/ha Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi dan 100 kg K₂O/ha mengurangi umbi diameter kecil sebesar 3 kali (228,6%), sebaliknya meningkatkan umbi diameter besar sebesar 24 kali (2324,2%) dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel sebesar 1,7 kali (71,3%) dibandingkan pemberian 15 ton/ha pada dosis pupuk kalium yang sama (100 kg K₂O/ha). Peningkatan dosis Trichokompos TKKS terformulasi dari 15 ke 25 ton/ha mengurangi umbi diameter kecil, sebaliknya meningkatkan umbi diameter besar dan bobot segar umbi per rumpun sampel. Peningkatan dosis ke 30 ton/ha masih berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan parameter tersebut kecuali jumlah umbi diameter kecil dan jumlah umbi diameter besar. Peningkatan dosis pupuk kalium dari 50 ke 100 hingga 150 kg K₂O/ha tidak mempengaruhi seluruh parameter yang diamati.
