AbstractThis study aims to determine what information needs and how information seeking behavior of students of the Department of Indonesian Language Education at Bung Hatta University.Â The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by direct interviews with Indonesian Language Education Department students who were working on a thesis in the room of the Bung Hatta University Library thesis based on the interview grid provided by using a tool in the form of a Vivo Y83 pen as a tool. interview recorder.Â Based on the results of the study it can be concluded as follows. First, students of the Indonesian Language Education Department need information sources such as research journals, books, resource persons, and the internet in tracing information by considering the publication year. the collections in the Bung Hatta University library can be categorized as incomplete. Second, Indonesian Language Education Department students will seek information in other university libraries, and the Regional Library if the information needed cannot be found at the Bung Hatta University Library and visit the reading room and thesis room in information retrieval. OPAC Information Search tool (Online Public Access Catalog) has been used well in information retrieval at the Bung Hatta University Library so that the time needed to search for information can be shortened, namely 1 to 2 hours. Before searching for information, informants will record what things will be traced so that the information found can be used and according to needs.Keywords: information needs, information seeking behavior

This paper discusses the factors that affect the damage in the office archive libraries, archives and documentation of Bukittinggi. The purpose of this paper is: (1) Describe the intern factors affecting archives damage in Office Library, Archives and Documentation of Bukittinggi, (2) Describe the extern factors that influence damage records in the Office of Libraries, Archives and Documentation of Bukittinggi. From the results of this study concluded: (1) intern factor is the destructive factor derived from the archives. Factors damaging is the archive of the paper and the ink paper and ink as an object that can be easily damaged. For avoidance of anything like this, at the time of filing in paper and ink for choose a good quality that is not easily damaged archives and in doing maintenance, do so in accordance with the terms of the world of archives, (2) factor is a factor extern archives from destroyer from outside. Factors damaging records from outside is the temperature and humidity, as well as the use of dust and mishandling. This is caused by a lack of understanding of archivists in the process of maintenance records so that the archive was damaged and difficult to use anymore. In order for archive to be managed properly filing officer should provide equipment maintenance and managing archives in accordance with archival purposes. This paper aims at: first, describe the implementation of the information chancery dynamic in the management of the archive in an office of archives, Library and documentation in Solok. Second, describe the obstacles in the system of implementation information chancery dynamic in an office of archives, Library and documentation in Solok. Third, describe their effort to face obstacles in the application ofÂ information system chancery dynamic in the office of archives. Information are collected by observation, interviews and the literature study in the office of archives, library and documentation bookâ€™s solok. Analysis of data is undertaken on a sort of descriptive set with a qualitative approach. Based on the results of discussion can be concluded the following: First, management archive uses the information chancery dynamic that does not run well. Second, it lacksfacilities and infrastructure such as computers, scanner, servers and network and lack of human resources in the field of information technology. Third, needs for the additional facilities and infrastructure as well as the presence of socialization and training in the management of an electronic archive using information system dynamic chancery.Keyword: archive management, SIKD, electronic archive.

The purpose of this study is to describe the process of indexing journal annotated technology. Collection of annotated journal articles index technology done by observation and direct observation to collect data directly from the original source journals in library technology STMIK Indonesia Padang. Based on data analysis concluded, first, collecting journals done directly. Secondly, all journals that have been successfully traced and then grouped to be selected, the number of journals in the field of technology from 2010 -2012 there were six pieces journal article in which there are 70 titles. Fourth, collected from indexing keywords, author name, and journal title. fifth, the next step to do is typing an annotated index. Keywords: annotated index; indexing; articles index

AbstractThe purpose of this study were (1) for describe Strategy librarian investigation technique in record and library goverment west sumatera, and (2) describe librarian investigation information technique in record and library goverment west sumatera. Librarian and member of the library concering aout research data method with observation, interview and library study in record and library goverment west sumatera. Data analysis do with descriptive. On the strength of data analysis, have as conclusion that in Strategy librarian investigation technique in record and library goverment west sumatera has three strategy: (1) librarian strategy before do invetigation dor information, (2) librarian strategy while do investigation, and (3) librarian strategy in investigation of information, has covered: starting, monitoring, and extracting. This study aimed to describe: (1) use of the library as a learning resource, (2) the constraints faced in the use of the library as a learning resource, and (3) what is being done Wira Lisna orphanage library in providing learning resources. Data were collected through observation and interviews in the Library Orphanage Lisna Wira. Data analysis was performed deskriptif.Dari result of the discussion was found as follows: First, the use of students in the library at the orphanage Padang Springs Wira Lisna not fully utilized. This is because the librarians are less oriented in building students' interest in reading, in terms of a collection of books owned by the poor students complete. Collection consisted only of old books, there is no renewal of the collection of its kind. This is a cause that underutilized library as a learning resource., As a protÃ©gÃ© of elementary, middle and high school lesson rather seek to internet sites that tend to bring the ill effects on the students. Second, constraints are: (1) the library is not professionally managed, so that visitors do not know the importance of the library as a learning resource for children, (2) the lack of reading materials in the library collection Panti AsuhanWira Lisna so visitors do not use the library because libraries are not material can meet the needs of visitors, (3) the efforts made in the use of the library are: (1) the holding of the renewal of the collections in the Library Orphanage Lisna Wira, (2) open and direct students learning Librarianship as a guideline, (3) improve facilities and infrastructure, and (4) expand and improve human resources in the Library Orphanage Lisna Wira. This paper discussed about the creation of the Institute of Technology Padang Library website. This paper aims to describe how to manufacture Padang Institute of Technology Library website.The method used is descriptive method with data collection through observation or direct observation to the Library Institute of Technology Padang, interviews, and literature. From observations and interviews conducted in the library Institute of Technology Padang then collected some data as material to design websites that serve as a media campaign Padang Institute of Technology Library. Based on the discussion in the creation of websites in the Library of the Institute of Technology of Padang, we can conclude the following matters. First, the technology has become so prominent in all fields, as well as a library. Second, the design of this website is static application using CodeIgniter Framework (CI), which is one of the specially designed software in designing a simple website and install a local web server as a liaison and support in making a website using Wamp Server.Keyword: website, Â library, Institute of Technology Padang

This paper aims to describe the making of annotated bibliography of fiction collection in the Library of the Department of Archives and Library of the Pesisir Selatan District Based Microsoft access .The method used is descriptive method with techniques of data collectionÂ through observation and interviews. The observations were conducted directly to investigate the fiction collections in the Library of Archives and Library of the Pesisir Selatan District. The results obtained in direct observation, the number of fiction collections in the form of a novel in the Library of Archives and Library Department of Pesisir Selatan District were 101 titles of books with its copies of 134 pieces. Based on the discussion, it concluded that the compilation of fiction collection annotated bibliography in the Library of Archives and Library Department of Pesisir Selatan District were done through several stages as follows: the stages of making annotated bibliography as follows: 1) title determination; 2) collection of library materials or information investigation; 3) collection of library materials; 4) classification or classification; 5) keyword creation; 6) index preparation; 7) typing bibliographic texts; and 8) checking the final manuscrips, and procedures for annotated bibliography based on Microsoft Access as follows: (1) create a database file; (2) create tables and input data; (3) design forms; (4) create and add event procedure; (5) create and design a query; (6) make a report; (7) create and design the menu view. AbstractThis research was aimed to make booklet mitigation for an earthquake and tsunami disaster as information media of Padang Society. This paper pupose to description creation phase booklet mitigation for an earthquake and tsunami disaster. The research method used in this paper is a descriptive method. Data resources was obtained from interview, electronic media, and non electronic media. For creating process booklet mitigation for an earthquake and tsunami disaster as information media, first step prepare tools and materials, tools and materials used in this making phase is computer or laptop connected to the internet network, printer and Canva software. The other materials that also we need is booklet art paper. Second, follow the steps according to the booklet making methodology: a) Determine the title an sub title booklet; b) Format making or booklet structure,; c) Searching for information that need as booklet content; d) Processing information; e) Arrenge and place information according to the booklet format; f) Creating booklet design and editing using Canva application; g) Printing booklet. Third, constraints and efforts in the process of making booklets. Constraints faced are an unstable internet connection that causes the editing process using the canva application cannot be run. This article discusses the development of library collections in the Archives Library and Documentation Padang. Panelitian method used through observation, interviews, and literature. Based on analyzing the data can be summarized as follows: First, the process of the development of library collections in the Archives Library and Documentation Padang form of procurement of library materials and the selection of library materials. Secondly, the constraints faced in conducting library collection development policy that is not in writing, not to have a special room to perform collection development, not maximum performance of librarians, and the lack of facilities and infrastructure. Third, should the Office of Library Archives and Documentation Padang has a written policy, has a special room to perform collection development, giving a clear assignment to any activity undertaken by a maximum librarians, particularly in library collection development activities, and Libraries Office of Library and Archives Padang documentation must consider infrastructure and facilities needed for all activities run smoothly.
