Abstract

The aim of this research was to understand the positive correlation between peer social support and healthy eating intention among first year university students Faculty of Mathematics and Science Universitas Negeri Malang. This research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive and correlation design. The population of this research is first year students Faculty of Mathematics and Science Universitas Negeri Malang. Subject of this research were 221 students obtained with cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used for this research was healthy eating intention scale and peer social support scale. This research use Pearson Product Moment analysis technique with correlation coefficient level is 0,606 and p less than 0,05, this result means there are significant positive relationship between peer social support and healthy eating intention in first year university students Faculty of Mathematics and Science Universitas Negeri Malang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan positif dukungan sosial teman sebaya dengan intensi perilaku makan sehat pada mahasiswa tahun pertama Fakultas MIPA Universitas Negeri Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan deskriptif dan korelasional. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa tahun pertama Fakultas MIPA Universitas Negeri Malang. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 221 orang yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah skala intensi perilaku makan dan skala dukungan sosial teman sebaya. Analisis korelasi menggunakan Product moment Pearson didapat koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,606 dengan p kurang dari 0,05 sehingga ada hubungan positif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial teman sebaya dengan intensi perilaku makan sehat pada mahasiswa tahun pertama Fakultas MIPA Universitas Negeri Malang.

Abstract

Previous research has shown that there is a problem of low social skills in children in kindergarten children in Malang. This provides an opportunity to investigate the cause. The purpose of this study to examine whether there is in-fluence of other people's presence on prosocial behavior in kindergarten children. To test the hypothesis, this research uses quantitative approach with experimental method. This experiment was conducted on 2 kindergartens in Malang by taking samples of 61 children subject at B grade, then divided randomly into 3 groups. Behavioral measurement method is carried out using observation and noting. The results of this study showing no significant differences in the appearance of prosocial behavior based on the difference of other people's attendance with result p equal 0.065 (p is greater than 0.05) and there was no significant difference in the speed of prosocial behavior response based on the difference of other people's at-tendance with result p equal 0.300 (p is greater than 0.05). These results indicate that there is no effect of the presence of others on prosocial behavior in kindergarten students in Malang. Based on a theoretical perspective, prosocial behavior is influenced by local social culture. During development stages, children learn norms and values from social environment regarding helping behavior. This research was conducted in schools that emphasize teaching on helpfulness and cooperation culture. The teaching of these values turns into personal characteristics that can play a more significant effect in determining someone to help than the characteristics of a situation such as the presence of others. Penelitian terdahulu menunjukkan terdapat masalah rendahnya keterampilan sosial pada anak-anak TK di Malang. Hal ini memberi peluang untuk diteliti penyebabnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh kehadiran orang lain terhadap perilaku prososial pada anak-anak TK. Untuk menguji hipotesis tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Eksperimen ini dilakukan pada 2 TK di Malang dengan mengambil sampel sejumlah 61 subjek anak yang berada pada tingkat B, kemudian dibagi secara random ke dalam 3 kelompok. Metode pengukuran perilaku dilakukan menggunakan pengamatan dan pencatatan. Hasil eksperimen ini menunjukkan tidak adanya perbedaan signifikan kemunculan perilaku prososial berdasarkan perbedaan jumlah kehadiran orang lain dengan hasil p sama dengan 0.065 (p lebih besar dari 0.05) juga tidak ada perbedaan signifikan kecepatan respons perilaku prososial berdasarkan jumlah kehadiran orang lain dengan hasil p sama dengan 0.300 (p lebih besar dari 0.05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh kehadiran orang lain terhadap perilaku prososial pada siswa TK di Malang. Berdasarkan perspektif teoretis, perilaku prososial dipengaruhi oleh sosial budaya setempat. Dalam masa perkembangan, anak mempelajari norma dan nilai dari lingkungan masyarakat tentang tindakan menolong. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sekolah yang menekankan pengajaran menolong dan budaya gotong-royong. Penanaman nilai-nilai ini dibawa menjadi karakteristik personal yang dapat memainkan peran yang lebih signifikan dalam menentukan seseorang untuk menolong dibandingkan karakteristik situasi seperti kehadiran orang lain.

Abstract

The study is aimed to investigate the correlation between social skill and self adjustment of newcomer students at Veterinary Faculty University of Brawijaya. The research was conducted with 116 newcomer students of the Faculty of Veterinary University of Brawijaya as the subjects of the study. The Scale of social skills with 0,853 reliability and the scale of self adjustment with 0,844 reliability was used as the instrument of the study. The analysis used in this research was descriptive analysis and analysis of correlational. Based on the data analysis the results stated that; (1) 13,793 percent of the subjects had a higher category on the social skill, 69,827 percent of the subjects had a medium category, and 16,379 percent had a low category , (2) 15,517 percent of the subjects had a higher category on self- adjustment, 68,965 percent of the subjects had a medium category, and 15,517 percent of the subjects had a low category, (3) There is a positive correlation between the social skill and self- adjustment on the subjects of the study which results in correlation coefficient is (rxy) of 0,716 and p value of 0,000 (p less than 0,05). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara keterampilan sosial dan penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa baru pendatang di Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Brawijaya. Penelitian dilakukan pada 116 mahasiswa baru pendatang di Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Brawijaya. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu skala keterampilan sosial dengan reliabilitas 0,853 dan skala penyesuaian diri dengan reliabilitas 0,844. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis korelasional. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh hasil yaitu (1) Subjek yang memiliki keterampilan sosial dalam kategori tinggi sebesar 13,793 persen, subjek dengan kategori sedang sebesar 69,827 persen dan subjek dengan kategori rendah sebesar 16,379 persen, (2) Subjek yang memiliki tingkat penyesuaian diri dalam kategori tinggi sebesar 15,517 persen, subjek dengan kategori sedang sebesar 68,965 persen dan subjek dengan kategori rendah sebesar 15,517 persen, (3) Terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara keterampilan sosial dengan penyesuaian diri pada subjek penelitian yang menghasilkan koefisien korelasi (rxy) sebesar 0,716 dan p value sebesar 0,000 (p kurang dari 0,05).

Abstract

Grit is an important aspect of student academic performance. Various studies on grit have been conducted, but no one has examined individual differences in grit among college students. The purpose of this study is to determine individual differences related to grit in college students. The method used is a literature study on research articles published in reputable international journals. A search for reputable international journals in the 2018-2022 range used the Science Direct page, with the keywords grit, individual differences, and motivation. The search returned 10 articles that matched the criteria. The article was then analyzed using a literature review. The results of the study show that individual differences have a relationship with student grit. The implication of this research is to show that accommodating various individual differences in the learning process is very much needed by students. The persistence of effort and consistency of interest which are the dimensions of grit are also influenced by individual differences. Grit has a very important role for students in achieving the goals set. Grit merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam performa akademik mahasiswa. Beragam kajian mengenai grit telah dilakukan, namun belum ada yang menelaah mengenai perbedaan individu dalam grit di kalangan mahasiswa. Tujuan studi ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan individu yang terkait dengan grit pada mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur pada artikel-artikel hasil penelitian yang dipublikasikan di jurnal internasional bereputasi. Penelusuran jurnal internasional bereputasi pada rentang tahun 2018-2022 menggunakan laman Science Direct, dengan kata kunci grit, perbedaan individu, dan motivasi. Penelusuran menghasilkan 10 artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria. Artikel kemudian dianlisis menggunakan telaah literatur. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan individu memiliki hubungan dengan grit pada mahasiswa. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah menunjukkan bahwa mengakomodasi berbagai perbedaan individu dalam proses pembelajaran sangat diperlukan mahasiswa. Perseverance of effort dan consistency of interest yang merupakan dimensi dari grit juga dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan individu. Grit memiliki peran yang sangat penting bagi mahasiswa dalam mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan.

Abstract

Psychological capital is the condition of persons maintaining a positive attitude and effectively facing unpleasant conditions. This enables the completion of assignments and preparation for future success. Adaptation of psychological capital questionnaire for Indonesia was due to the absence of a measuring tool used within educational context. Therefore, this study aimed to adapt and validate Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-12) in the Indonesian language. The subjects comprised Senior high school (SMA) students from the Malang Raya area, totaling 348 participants. Furthermore, data analysis was conducted using Rasch model. The results showed that the PCQ-12 met the principles of unidimensionality and local independence. The Questionnaire comprised 12 items, with an instrument, item, and person reliability of 0.89, 0.98, and 0.88, respectively. Items that were challenging to agree upon included numbers 2, 5, 7, and 11, as well as items 8, 9, and 12. The PCQ-12 appropriately categorized response options into 6 choices, ensuring its suitability for use in Indonesia.

Abstract

Environmental behavior is essential for maintaining environmental quality and human life. According to the rational perspective from Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), belief, personal norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) affect actions through behavioral intention. In the past two decades, TPB has become the most extensively discussed concept in explaining pro-environmental behavior (PEB) but still needs re-examination in the Indonesian context. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate how subjective norm (SN), attitude (ATT) towards PEB, and PBC influenced PEB through pro-environmental behavior intention (PEBI). An explanatory quantitative method was used including 264 students from Malang State University with the data analysis conducted and structural equation modeling path analysis. The results showed that attitude, SN, and PBC significantly and positively influenced PEB, primarily through behavior intention.

Abstract

The massive circulation of hoaxes on social media is currently a fairly complex problem in society. One simple way that is considered effective to reduce the rate of hoaxes is to not disseminate information without prior verification. Verification efforts with the aim of minimizing the impact of this hoax can be referred to as criticality. The term criticality is basically still quite new when compared to the term critical thinking. Criticality refers to the concept of critical thinking accompanied by a commitment to act based on socio-cultural values. The purpose of this study was to develop a criticality scale related to hoaxes on social media. The method used is quantitative involving 400 students from state universities in Malang City. The results of this study indicate that the criticality scale related to hoaxes developed has met the criteria of good validity and reliability.

Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Procrastination (MBCT-P) in reducing academic procrastination, as well as explain how MBCT-P can reduce academic procrastination. The research participants were 43 Muslim university students with academic procrastination scores in the medium and high categories who were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=21) and control group (n=22). A mixed methods research approach with an embedded research design was used in this study. An experiment with a Randomized Pre-Test and Post-Test Control Group with a Follow-Up design was used, while qualitative data collection was carried out during the intervention. The research instruments were the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (CR=0.89) and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (CR=0.92). The results showed that MBCT-P had a long-term effect in reducing academic procrastination in the experimental group. Experimental group participants were reported to be more focused, calm, and motivated and found it easier to accept academic tasks, leading to reduced procrastination. The modification of MBCT-for depression for academic procrastination with a shorter duration has never been previously explored. Hence, this research provides a new alternative intervention that effectively reduces academic procrastination among university students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing increase in cyber bullying and the negative impacts it causes. This research aims to develop a cyberbullying measurement instrument using a mixed methods approach involving three stages. Theme exploration stage, namely the qualitative stage with open questionnaire data collection techniques to explore themes surrounding Cyberbullying. At this stage the data analysis technique applied is open coding (65 participants). The testing stage is the content validity stage where the instrument is assessed by experts using the Aiken formula. This stage also includes factor analysis with an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) approach which helps identify the factorial structure underlying the instrument, relationships between items, and grouping items based on dimensions (270 participants). Scale validation stage where at this stage confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was carried out to test and validate the factorial model identified through EFA (789 Participants). Sampling technique uses convenience sampling technique. The results of the research show that based on the CFA test, the cyber bullying scale showed that all items had loading factor values >0.5 and construct reliability >0.7, as well as AVE results >0.5, so that all the items used were forming factors of the latent variable. The items used are valid and reliable items so they can be relied upon as research measuring tools. Reliable Cyberbullying measurement instruments can more precisely identify cyberbullying behavior and thus can assist in a better understanding of this phenomenon, so that prevention and intervention efforts can be targeted more effectively.

Abstract

The quality of school life reflects students’ perceptions of satisfaction and well-being based on their positive and negative experiences in school settings. This study presents a psychometric adaptation of the Quality of School Life (QSL) scale into the Indonesian context—a crucial step, as no culturally validated version of this instrument previously existed in Indonesia. The study involved 203 high school students and utilized the adapted QSL scale for data collection via Google Forms. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to evaluate the construct validity. The initial version included 29 items, but two items were excluded due to factor loadings below 0.40. The remaining 27 items showed factor loadings between 0.508 and 0.890. The model fit indices demonstrated satisfactory results (RMSEA = 0.048, CFI = 0.930, TLI = 0.923, SRMR = 0.077). The scale exhibited strong reliability, with Composite Reliability (CR) = 0.98 and Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.921. Content validity assessed by 12 expert judges yielded an Aiken’s V index of 0.79. Convergent validity was supported by AVE values above 0.50 in all dimensions, while discriminant validity was indicated by the square root of AVE exceeding inter-construct correlations—except for one dimension. These findings confirm the strong psychometric properties of the adapted instrument. The study contributes a culturally relevant and statistically validated tool for assessing students' school life quality in Indonesia, which can serve as a foundation for broader educational evaluation and policy improvement.
