Abstract

The development of the times demands an increase in the quality of human resources, including in the field of education. Students need to have a well-facilitated learning experience to make it easier to understand the material. Understanding learning materials can be made easier through reflection activities as a support for the repetitive method. Through reflection activities, students can recall the material and even the learning process that has been passed, so that the material will be more embedded in memory. The purpose of this study was to determine student responses to reflection activities. The research method used is a quantitative research method. The researcher used a questionnaire with a Likert scale rating as a research instrument. The data collection technique is in the form of a questionnaire technique. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and got 23 students who contracted the Educational Psychology course at the Science Education Department, Manado State University. The results showed that the students strongly agreed with the implementation of reflection activities in learning.

Abstract

The research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade 9.7 students of Manado 7 Public Middle School through the implementation of problem based learning multimedia learning models. The lack ability of students to think, understand, and solve problems, exacerbated by the situation after the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in disrupted learning activities, so learning multimedia is needed that can optimize learning outcomes and facilitate the learning process. Using the classroom action research method, the research subjects were 34 students. Conducted in two cycles with four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were analyzed using the formula P=????/????x100%. The results of the analysis show an increase in learning outcomes, as well as the ability to solve problems. This increase can be seen from the increase in classical completeness in each cycle, from an average of 65 cycles I to 82 in cycle II. Increasing the percentage of learning outcomes is 26%. The number of students fulfilling the minimum completeness criteria is 67% or 23 students (cycle I), to 94% or 32 students (cycle II). Student completeness from cycle I to cycle II increased by 27%.

Abstract

This study tries to apply an inquiry approach, which is a constructivist learning method. In this approach, students are given a problem in a particular situation or phenomenon that stimulates them to think critically, analyze and even draw conclusions based on prior knowledge. Through this approach, students are invited to study a problem that must be observed and scrutinized, so that it is hoped that understanding of course concepts in learning activities can increase. In the context of plant tissue culture courses, the learning methods that have been applied so far are less varied, and this seems to have a negative impact on student learning outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of the application of the guided inquiry method on the learning outcomes of semester VI students in that course. It is hoped that with the application of the inquiry method, students will experience an increase in understanding of concepts and skills in plant tissue culture courses. And of course, this increase is expected to have a positive impact on overall learning outcomes. This study used a quasi-quasi experimental design with subjects in the sixth semester of biology students. Data obtained through pretest and post-test, and the hypothesis was tested using the t test. The results of the data analysis show that there is a significant effect of the application of the inquiry method on improving student learning outcomes in tissue culture engineering courses. This can be concluded from the calculated t value which is greater than t table at a significance level of 0.05. Thus, it can be confirmed that the inquiry approach contributes positively to improving student learning outcomes in these courses.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop a web blog-based science learning media. The study utilizes the research and development method by Borg and Gall and was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Manado from March to June in the academic year 2022/2023. The field trial subjects comprised subject matter experts, instructional media experts, students, and teachers. Data collection instruments included questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The obtained data were analyzed significantly. The results of the expert validation for the product materials fall into the valid category with a score of 87.39%. The expert validation for the instructional media product is also categorized as valid with a score of 88.82%. The results of the limited-scale field trial fall into the valid category with 67.90% of students choosing strongly agree and 32.10% choosing agree. The results of the full-scale field trial fall into the valid category with 77.77% of students choosing strongly agree and 22.23% choosing agree. This study concludes that the web blog-based science learning media is effective, efficient, engaging, and suitable for use in classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate students' interest in learning through the project-based learning model. The study was conducted at the Department of Biology Education and the Department of Science Education at Manado State University. The research method employed was quantitative descriptive. The subjects consisted of 20 students participating in project-based learning in the instructional media course. Data were collected through a learning interest questionnaire distributed at the end of the semester and measured using a Likert scale. The results indicated that for 12 statement items, the percentage fell within the range of 81%-100%, indicating a high level of interest among all respondents. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the project-based learning model effectively stimulates and optimizes students' learning interest.

Abstract

This research examines the effect of electrolyte testing practical equipment integrated with the inquiry learning model on students' science process skills. This research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 students at MAK Madani Manado. The research results showed a significant increase in students' science process skills, with an average pretest score of 52.48 and posttest of 86.69. This increase reflects the effectiveness of using inquiry-based practical tools in improving skills in observing, classifying, formulating hypotheses, designing experiments, processing data and drawing conclusions. Inquiry learning allows students to participate in the scientific process actively, develop critical thinking skills, and solve problems. These findings positively contribute to creating more innovative and contextual chemistry learning strategies and can be a solution to overcoming limited laboratory facilities in schools

Abstract

This study aims to develop a filmmaking-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model for the Scientific Indonesian Language course to enhance the literacy skills of Science Education students. The model aims to integrate scientific literacy, including reading, writing, and critical thinking, with creative communication through the production of short films. Using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), this research follows a research and development (R&D) approach. The findings reveal that the model significantly improves students' literacy abilities, with an average increase of 26% in post-implementation test scores. Moreover, the filmmaking process encourages students to better understand complex scientific concepts and fosters creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Reflections on the films provide opportunities for students to evaluate their learning outcomes and refine their skills. This PjBL model demonstrates effectiveness in supporting interdisciplinary learning and is recommended for broader application in similar academic contexts to enhance student literacy and engagement.
