Abstract

Komunitas To Lotang memiliki spesifikasi keunikan dalam mentransformasi sistem budaya, nilai, kepercayaan dan keyakinan dari generasi ke generasi. Komunitas To Lotang konsisten mempertahankan identitas, kepercayaannya, dan nilai-nilai budayanya. Faktor orang tua berperan penting dalam mentransfer nilai-nilai budaya To Lotang dari terpaan modernisasi. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis komunikasi keluarga dalam mentransformasi nilai-nilai budaya To Lotang di Kabupaten Sidrap. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif, mengacu pada studi kasus yang secara spesifik mendeskripsikan perilaku subjek keluarga To Lotang dalam mendidik dan mentransformasi nilai-nilai budaya. Lokasi penelitian di Kecamatan Amparita, Kabupaten Sidrap, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan sebagai tempat berdomisili komunitas To Lotang. Informan penelitian dipilih melalui purposive sampling dengan menentukan tujuh keluarga To Lotang yang konsisten mendidik anak-anak memahami budaya di lingkungannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses transformasi nilai-nilai budaya melalui tahapan melihat, membiasakan, dan menstimuli anak-anak dalam prosesi-prosesi ritual adat. Ketiga, tahap memberikan pemahaman dengan cara berkomunikasi melalui tudang sipulung (duduk bersama). Ketiga, tahapan keterlibatan aktif anak-anak dalam prosesi ritual mulai persiapan sampai pelaksanaannya. Keempat, tahap mengingatkan implementasi ajaran dari Uwa’ta atau orang yang dituakan. Kontribusinya pada pelestarian nilai-nilai budaya To Lotang sangat identic melalui organisasi terkecil, seperti lingkungan keluarga.

Abstract

This study aims to categorize the understanding of fishermen's children on the use of online games and the barriers to understanding the impact of online games on fisher children in Makassar City. This research uses a qualitative approach referring to case studies. Data were collected through non-participant observation and in-depth interviews with children aged 7-12 years selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that the understanding of fishermen's children's impact on online games has three categories: high understanding categories, characteristics of low duration and frequency, and increased interactivity playing with peers. In moderate understanding, children tend to share their time playing online games and learning with minimal time duration and frequency. In the low comprehension category, the characteristics of very intensive children have a very high duration and frequency of playing online games. The level of interactivity with peers is low. Second, the obstacles are the inadequate understanding of online games' impact on fishing communities due to parents' lack of supervision and assistance when using smartphones. Online games have the potential to lead to online game addiction and less focus on school learning, and potentially cost money in internet cafesPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkategorisasi pemahaman anak-anak nelayan pada penggunaan game online dan hambatan-hambatan pemahaman dampak game online pada anak-anak Nelayan di Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif mengacu pada studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi non partisipan, dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, pemahaman anak-anak nelayan terhadap dampak game online memiliki tiga kategori, kategori pemahaman tinggi, karakteristiknya durasi dan frekuensi rendah, interaktifitas tinggi bermain dengan teman sebaya. Kategori pemahaman sedang, anak cenderung membagi waktu bermain game online dan belajar dengan durasi dan frekuensi waktu minim, dan kategori pemahaman rendah, karakteristiknya anak sangat intensif memiliki durasi dan frekuensi bermain game online sangat tinggi, tingkat interaktifitas dengan teman sebaya rendah. Kedua, Hambatan-hambatan rendahnya pemahaman dampak game online di lingkungan masyarakat nelayan, akibat kurangnya pengawasan dan pendampingan orang tua saat menggunakan Smartphone. Game online berpotensi menimbulkan kecanduan game online dan kurang fokus pada pembelajaran sekolah, dan berpotensi menghabiskan biaya di warung internet.

Abstract

The purpose of this reseach is to explore, and categorize verbal and non verbal communication behavior in the performances of street children and beggars in Makassar. This study explored the operational actions and motivations of street children and beggars who work the streets. This study uses a qualitative method that seeks to interpret the meaning of data to understand a community's social life. The ethnographic approach to communication studies focuses on studying the interactions and activities of individuals as social creatures in using verbal and non-verbal symbols.  Primary data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with 21 street children informants and beggars operating in three sectors, namely, the Panakukang/ Fly Over/Red Light Sector, the Losari Beach Platform Sector, and the Hertasning Sector. Non-participant observation by repeatedly observing themselves both verbally and non-verbally in performing actions and actions in front of benefactors. This study found verbal and non verbal communication behaviors that are displayed as a form of impression management on the front stage in attracting the sympathies of benefactors. Verbal communication behavior in the form of spoken and written language based on categorical finding verbal symbols of street children and beggars using three elements, namely the structure of the message, the style of the message, and the attractiveness of the message.  Furthermore, the categorization of non-verbal communication behaviors is facial expressions, body movements (kinetic), physical appearance (body and manner of dress), and paralinguistic(vocalic).

Abstract

The self-concept of children of cocoa farmers is a frame of reference for him to interact with the external world. The self-concept is relatively consistent to the situation, timing, and behavior patterns are relatively consistent. Formation of child's self concept is affected by external factors and internal environment of the child interacting with other individuals.A qualitative approach which refers to the case study. The purpose of case studies to analyze specific issues. Location of the study in two sub centers cocoa plantations in South Sulawesi, namely: Luwu and Luwu Timur. Instruments of data collection using observation, interview, Focuss Group Discussion (FGD).Results of the study revealed that self-concept of children of cocoa farmers develop positive self-concept. Characteristics of positive self-concept is a child have pride as children of cocoa farmers and have self-confidence and motivation high. For example, the motivation to aspire to be a successful cocoa farmer, proud as children of cocoa farmers, contribute actively to help their parents, independent, polite, responsible, patient behaves in the face of failure, and be able to resolve problems in the environment.The self-concept of children of cocoa farmers tend to be negative, for example, less accepting and shy as children of cocoa farmers, lack the motivation to become cocoa farmers. On the other side of this category of children lacking the initiative to help their parents, and avoiding work as a cocoa farmer. Behavior that is less willing to take decisions, are less able to withstand the pressures and tend to avoid the difficult conditions in the environment. Keywords: Cocoa Farmer, Interpersonal Communication, Self Concept, South Sulawesi

Abstract

The diversity that exists in Indonesia should be one of the reasons why communication is important to be studied, and depth analysed. Diversity will produce harmony when it managed by good communication and understanding. This study analysed social life in the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual practised by a community in Bone Regency as a form of diversity. Focusing on communication behaviour in the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual, this study would first (1) analysed religious messages, and subsequently (2) identify social communication in the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual. This research used a qualitative method by using the ethnographic communication approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analysed using ethnographic data analysis. The results of this study indicated that the implementation of the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual is a symbol of the belief (ateppekeng) and gratitude (asukkurukeng) of Ujung people towards the figure of Putta Sereng and God Almighty. Social communication in the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual forms harmonious communication patterns, consisting of resistance and responsive communication practised by community groups that are resistant and conservative to the Addewatang Putta Sereng ritual.

Abstract

Abstract: Political campaign presidential election in Indonesia has grown, along with the in creasing advances in technology and changes in the lectoral system (election). Then, the candidates vying to attract public sympathy, one way to make a Political Advertising that aired on television station. Presidential Elections (Election) in 2014 led to competition both pairs of candidates for president and vice president of the Prabowo-Hatta and Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - Jusuf Kalla (JK), heats up. The heat of competition seen also with the rise of political advertising both pairs of candidates. Political advertising is one way to get support from the community, for example in audio visual media television. The problem is how selective influence of political advertisements aired on television is able to construct a visual image of the presidential candidate in 2014. The aim was to determine the influence of selective political ad that aired in the media in the capture space “discourse” candidate image visualization massively so sehimgga able to raise the collective memory selector that will provide sound support when the momentum of the electorate was held. For the achievement of the objectives of this research are used type of research is a mixed-method research. This type of research that combines qualitative and quantitative research methods (triangulation) to provide a comprehensive analysis of the research problem. The goal is to get the data and comprehensive analysis of the research problem. The results of this study indicate that political advertisements on TV were able to build a visual image of the presidential candidates in 2014 by 87% and aims to improve the prospects of promoting the election of a candidate or candidates for president of programs and policies. Political ads this election is able to build the reputation of candidates or political parties to provide information to the public about the qualifications, experience, background, and personality presisen a candidate or political party. Then selective influence political advertising is changing, maintain adding cognitive, affective, and political behavior of audiences. The communication process takes place with all the elements involved. However, other results showed that the selective influence of political advertising in building the image visualization candidate vice effective only on the TV if it is based on specific situations, such as elections (presidential) only focused on situations in which engagement and voter interest and familiarity candidate or party chairman is quite high. The strength of political advertising in the media 2014 lies not in the idea, program, or solidity policy information directly related to the basic needs of the people. Abstrak : Komunikasi  keluarga  merupakan  bagian  komunikasi  interpersonal  yang  melibatkan  pertukaran  pesan baik secara verbal dan non verbal antara orang tua dan anak dalam menanamkan atau mengkultivasi anak terhadap nilai-nilai budaya orang tuanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkategorisasi kultivasi nilai-nilai budaya Toraja orang tua dan anak melalui komunikasi keluarga. Tipe penelitian menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengkaji secara mendalam kultivasi nilai-nilai budaya Toraja. Hasil penelitian menemukan pola kultivasi pertama, orang tua dan anak aktif dan berpartisipasi dalam mempelajari nilai- nilai budaya Toraja. Kedua, orang tua yang aktif dan memiliki partisipasi yang tinggi dalam mengajarkan nilai-nilai budaya Toraja pada anak-anak mereka. Ketiga, anak yang lebih proaktif dan berpartisipasi dalam mempelajari nilai-nilai budaya Toraja, dari tetangga sesama Etnik Toraja, teman bermain, dan teman-teman di sekolah yang juga memiliki etnik sama.Kata kunci : Komunikasi Interpersonal, Komunikasi Keluarga, Kultivasi, Nilai Budaya TorajaAbstract : Family communication is part of interpersonal communication that involves the exchange of messages, both verbal and non-verbal between parents and children in instilling or cultivate the child to cultural values of their parents. The purpose of this study was categorizing cultivation cultural values Toraja parents and children through family communication. This type of research uses qualitative descriptive study to examine in depth the cultivation of cultural values Toraja. The study found a pattern of cultivation first, parents and children of active and participatory in learning cultural values Toraja. Second, parents are active and have a high participation in the teaching of cultural values Toraja on their children. Third, children are more proactive and participatory in learning cultural values Toraja, Toraja ethnic fellow neighbors, playmates and friends at school who also have the same ethnicity.Key words : Interpersonal Communication, Family Communication, Cultivation, Cultural Values Toraja

Abstract

Abstrak Pegawai Negeri sipil selalu berhadapan dengan berbagai persoalan yang harus terus menerus diatasi, mulai keluhan terhadap pengurusan administrasi kepegawaian yang rumit, karir yang sulit diterka, sulitnya mengurus kenaikan pangkat, mutasi yang berbelit-belit, dan berbagai kebijakan dan regulasi berkenaan dengan administrasi kepegawaian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh efektivitas komunikasi interpersonal terhadap promosi jabatan pada dinas sosial daerah provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah menggunakan kuesioner, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa efektivitas komunikasi interpersonal memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap promosi jabatan. Dari hasil uji statistik diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,002. Dengan demikian nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel Efektivitas Komunikasi Interpersonal memberikan pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap Promosi Jabatan pada Dinas Sosial Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Efektivitas Komunikasi Interpersonal dan manajemen personalia (v.kontrol) memberikan kontribusi sebesar 26,1% terhadap variabel terikat Promosi Jabatan pada Dinas Sosial Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah, sedangkan sisanya 73,9% merupakan variabel lain yang tidak disertakan dalam penelitian ini (diantaranya motivasi karyawan, komitmen organisasi, budaya organisasi dan lain-lain). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa efektivitas komunikasi interpersonal terhadap promosi jabatan memberikan pengaruh yang cukup besar, sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa semakin baik efektivitas komunikasi interpersonal dilaksanakan maka semakin baik pula pelaksanaan promosi jabatan.Abstract Civil Servant always faces many problems which have to be continuously solved, beginning with a complaint complicated personnel administration management, unpredictable career, difficulty in managing promotion, complicated mutation, and policies and regulations related to the personnel administration. The goal of this research is to know the influence of interpersonal communication effectiveness towards Profession Promotion on Social Department of Central Sulawesi Province.Research method used was quantitative descriptive with sample determining by using simple random sampling technique. Data collection technique was conducted by questionaire, interview, and documentation. This research stated that the interpersonal communication effectiveness has a positive effect and it was significant towards profession promotion. According to the statistical test result, there was significant score 0.002. As a result, this score shows that Interpesonal Communication Effectiveness variable partially gives positive and significant effect towards profession promotion on Social Department of Central Sulawesi province. The Interpersonal Communication Effectiveness and personal management (control variiable) gives a contribution, 26.1% towards bound variable at Profession Promotion at Social Department of Central Sulawesi, while the rest, 73.9% is other variable which was not joined in this research (employee motivation, organization commitment and cultures, and etc.). The conclusion of this research is that interpersonal communication effectiveness towards profession promotion gives big influence, so it can be told that the interpersonal communication effectiveness conducted well so it can be mentioned that the promotion profession conducting runs better.

Abstrak Pengelolaan kesan etnik Bugis dalam adaptasi diri dengan budaya Sunda merupakan kajian yang bertujuan untuk melihat tampilan bahasa verbal dan bahasa nonverbal. Pengelolaan kesan yang mengarah pada seni mengelola kesan terhadap serentetan tindakan dengan hati-hati, seperti gerak isyarat, kesalahan bicara atau tindakan yang diinginkan seperti membuat adegan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut masalah penelitian bagaimana pengelolaan kesan melalui bahasa verbal dan nonverbal yang mereka tampilkan dalam adaptasi diri dengan budaya Sunda. Tujuannya adalah untuk menemukan dan mengkategorisasikan pengelolaan kesan melalui bahasa verbal dan nonverbal yang mereka tampilkan dalam dalam adaptasi diri dengan budaya Sunda. Untuk pencapaian tujuan penelitian ini digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan cara mengumpulkan data melalui pengamatan berperan serta atau observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, serta studi dokumenter. Peneliti terlibat langsung melakukan adaptasi diri dengan budaya Sunda dan melihat orang-orang etnik Bugis dalam berinteraksi langsung dengan masyarakat Sunda. Hasil yang ditemukan adalah pengelolaan kesan melalui bahasa verbal yang dilakukan informan adalah menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dengan tetap mempertahankan dialek atau logat Bugis yang kental, meskipun telah lama tetap mempertahakan logat Bugisnya. Tampilan bahasa nonverbal yang ditunjukkan adalah tetap mempertahankan intonasi dan suara yang agak keras dengan tetap senyum dan ramah yang juga sesuai dengan karakter adat sopan santun etnik Bugis.Abstract Bugis ethnic impression management in adapting to the Sundanese culture is a study that aims to look at the display verbal and nonverbal language. Impression management that led to the art of managing the impression of a series of acts with caution, such as gestures, speech errors or desired action such as making a scene. Based on this research problem how impression management through verbal and nonverbal language they display in adapting themselves to the Sundanese culture. The goal is to find and categorize impression management through verbal and nonverbal language which they appear in the adaptation to the Sundanese culture. For the achievement of the objectives of this study used qualitative research methods by collecting data through participant observation or participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary studies. Researchers involved in adapting to the culture and see the Sundanese ethnic Bugis people to interact directly with the Sundanese. The result found is impression management is done through verbal language informant is using Indonesian language while maintaining a dialect or accent is thick Bugis, although it has long remained defensively Bugisnya accent. Display shown is nonverbal language while maintaining intonation and sound a bit harsh with a fixed smile and friendly which is also in accordance with the character of ethnic Bugis traditional manners.

Abstract

Abstrak Fokus dan tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui tema dan metode riset yang digunakan para mahasiswa program Sarjana (S1) dan Magister (S2) Ilmu Komunikasi dalam penulisan tesis dan skripsi pada Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Hasanuddin dalam 5 tahun terakhir (2007 – 2011). Penetapan batas waktu 5 tahun terakhir atas pertimbangan bahwa 5 tahun dipandang masih baru, dan bisa dilihat trend atau kecenderungannya untuk melakukan proyeksi ke depan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei dengan mengumpulkan semua tesis dan skripsi yang di perpustakaan, kemudian di analisis tema dan metode riset yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua strata (S1 dan S2) dalam pemilihan tema atau isu nampaknya keduanya memiliki kecenderungan yang hampir sama, yakni cukup variatif dan mengangkat masalah yang relevan dengan konsentrasi bidang studi yang mereka pilih, yakni untuk S1 cenderung pada isu Film dan Televisi, Pemasaran, Internal Public, Komunikasi Interpersonal, sedangkan mahasiswa S2 cenderung pada isu Etika dan Perundang- undangan Media Massa, Kampanye Politik dan Pencitraan Kandidat, Media Pembelajaran, dan Efek Media dan Opini Publik. Dalam hal metode Penelitian, mahasiswa S1 dan S2 cenderung memiliki kesamaan, yakni masih didominasi oleh metode survey. Sementara untuk metode Analsis data mahasiswa S1 cenderung memakai analisis Isi dengan pendekatan kualitatif pada tataran praktis, sedangkan mahasiswa S2 cenderung memakai survey dengan analisis kuantitatif pada tataran konseptual.Abstract The focus and goal of this study was to determine themes and research methods used by the students of Bachelor (S1) and Master (S2) Science Communication in thesis writing and thesis at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Hasanuddin in the last 5 years (2007-2011) . Determination of 5-year time limit on the consideration that the last 5 years is still considered new, and can be seen trend or propensity for forward projections. The research method used was a survey to collect all the theses and thesis in the library, then in the theme analysis and research methods used. Results of this study indicate that both strata (S1 and S2) in the selection of themes or issues that seem to both have almost the same trend, ie quite varied and relevant issues raised by the concentration of their chosen field of study, ie, the issue tends to S1 film and television, marketing, internal public, interpersonal communication, while the S2 students tend to be on the issue of ethics and mass media legislation, political campaigns and candidates imaging, instructional media, and media effects and public opinion. In the case study method, students S1 and S2 tend to have in common, which is still dominated by the survey method. While the data for analysis method S1 students tend to use content analysis with a qualitative approach on a practical level, while the S2 students tend to use survey with quantitative analysis at the conceptual level.
