Abstract

The development of the concept of sustainable agriculture in the cocoa farming system is the conception of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Cocoa. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors that influence farmers' intentions to implement Good Agricultural Practices on cocoa in Bupon Sub District, Luwu Regency. Previous studies on the adoption of agricultural innovation often consider socio economic characteristics and overlook underlying psychological factors influencing farmers’ behavioral intention. This study's framework is based on Ajzen's theory of planned behavior (TPB) to evaluate variables antecedent to farmers' intention to implement Good Agricultural Practices on cocoa, such as attitude, subjective norm, knowledge, and perceived behavior control. Using a self-administered questionnaire, a quantitative research approach was used to collect responses from 130 farmers from three villages in the Bupon Sub District of Luwu Regency. According to the findings, TPB antecedent variables: attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have significant effect and positively correlated to the farmer’s intention to Implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on study area.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze drug prevention strategies among students of Senior High School Negeri 5 Makassar. The study employs a descriptive method, involving student samples from various grade levels. Data were obtained through questionnaires and interviews. The research findings indicate that students are inclined to be vulnerable to drug exposure. Contributing factors to this behavior include students' lack of knowledge about the risks of drug abuse, peer pressure, and insufficient supervision from parents and the school. In preventing drug behavior, it was found that an educational approach integrated with strict supervision has a positive impact. Active involvement of parents and teachers in providing information about the dangers of drugs, as well as offering emotional support to students, is also crucial. Therefore, collaborative efforts among the school, parents, and the community are necessary to develop a comprehensive and effective prevention program to safeguard students from the dangers of drugs.

Abstract

Work in the agricultural sector heavily depends on nature and the physical environment. The risk of accidents increases due to fatigue, inadequate equipment, difficult terrain, exposure to extreme weather, and poor health, which are also associated with working and living in remote areas. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing injuries and health complaints among farmers in Bontomanai Village. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design conducted from July to October 2024 in Bontomanai Village, Gowa Regency. The respondents of this study were 315 farmers selected through purposive sampling. The independent variables were age, education level, gender, work experience, working hours, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and working posture. A total of 16.5% of respondents experienced injuries, while 55.6% reported health complaints. There was a significant relationship between gender and injuries, as well as between working hours and health complaints. Limiting working hours and empowering the community by forming "Agricultural OHS Cadres" is suggested to provide continuous knowledge about Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the agricultural sector. Abstract

Substance abuse among transgender individuals remains underexplored, particularly in the context of how intersecting social determinants contribute to its prevalence. Existing studies often overlook the paradox wherein increased healthcare access does not equate to effective support due to systemic bias and exclusion in service provision. This study aims to analyze the influence of social stigma, family support, and healthcare access on drug abuse among transgender individuals in South Sulawesi. A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted involving 230 transgender individuals in South Sulawesi, including 178 residing in Makassar. Data were collected through structured interviews and validated questionnaires, and then analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. The findings indicate that social stigma is a significant risk factor linked to an increased likelihood of substance use (p < 0.05), whereas family support shows a protective association, potentially mitigating the risk of substance use within this population. However, greater access to healthcare services is associated with higher chances of substance use, indicating challenges in the effectiveness of rehabilitation services for transgender individuals, particularly due to persistent stigma, lack of provider training in gender-sensitive care, and limited inclusivity within existing healthcare systems. These findings highlight the need for a holistic intervention framework that prioritizes stigma reduction, social support, and inclusive healthcare access, particularly within marginalized and rural health systems. The evidence may guide policies aimed at enhancing equity and responsiveness in service delivery for underserved populations.
