Abstract

Despite extensive global efforts, HIV/AIDS continues to pose a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly among high-risk populations such as female sex workers. Previous studies have highlighted persistent gaps in HIV/AIDS knowledge and inadequate preventive practices within this community. This study aimed to enhance knowledge and preventive behaviors regarding HIV/AIDS among female sex workers in Makassar City through a structured, community-based intervention. Conducted in May 2025 in Panakukang District, the intervention employed participatory health education methods, including interactive counseling, focus group discussions, and condom-use simulations. A pre- and post-test design was used to evaluate changes in knowledge and behavior. Findings demonstrated a substantial improvement in knowledge scores, increasing from a mean of 54.2 to 85.7. Furthermore, the rate of consistent condom use rose from 62% to 87% following the intervention. The results underscore the effectiveness of community-based, interactive educational approaches in promoting HIV/AIDS prevention. These findings have significant implications for public health strategies targeting similar high-risk urban populations.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the public sector demands effective technology utilization and human resource readiness. This study investigates the effect of digital technology utilization on the performance of Government Employees with Work Agreements (P3K), with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using a structured questionnaire distributed to 91 P3K employees in Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. Multiple linear regression and mediation analysis were conducted to examine variable relationships. The findings indicate that digital technology utilization has a positive and significant effect on P3K performance (β = 0.068; p < 0.001). Work motivation also significantly affects performance (β = 0.074; p < 0.001) and mediates the relationship between technology and performance (β = 0.002; p < 0.001). The results suggest that while digital tools enhance work efficiency, their impact is optimized when employees are highly motivated. Thus, work motivation serves as a crucial factor in the successful implementation of technology. The influence of digital technology on performance is both direct and mediated by work motivation. Digital transformation policies must incorporate motivational strategies to achieve optimal employee performance. Keywords: Digital technology, Work Motivation, Performance, P3K, Mediation

Abstract

The furniture industry has a high economic value and competitiveness, 80% of all furniture production in Indonesia uses wood as raw material. In the process of producing wood into furniture, it will produce pollution, namely particles of wood dust. Wood dust can cause lung function disorders. This study was conducted to determine the determinants of lung function capacity disorders among furniture workers in Gowa Regency. Analytic survey, using a cross sectional approach. This study was conducted in the furniture industry in the Gowa Regency area in December 2023. The population in this study were all workers who worked in the furniture industry totaling 33 people. The sample in this study were 33 workers in the production section with total sampling. The instruments of this research are spirometer, nose clip and questionnaire. The results of this study indicate there is a relationship between smoking habits (p-value = 0.007) and the use of PPE (p-value = 0.013) with impaired lung function capacity. While the length of exposure (p-value = 0.674) which means there is no relationship with impaired lung function capacity. The variables of smoking habits and the use of PPE have a significant relationship with impaired lung function capacity, while the length of exposure does not have a significant relationship with impaired lung function capacity among furniture workers in Gowa Regency. Suggestion: implementing work rotation for workers and providing direction to workers about safe work procedures and according to standards, one of which is the use of PPE as an effort to control the risk of impaired lung function capacity in furniture workers in Gowa Regency.

Abstract

Drug abuse remains a persistent global health challenge, with relapse continuing to be a major obstacle in sustaining recovery after rehabilitation. This study examined the association between knowledge, motivation, and family support factors, including emotional, social, and moral support, with relapse among residents at the Community-Based Rehabilitation Institute of the Mitra Husada Foundation in Makassar. A cross-sectional design was applied, involving all 82 rehabilitation residents through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed with Chi-Square and logistic regression tests. The results demonstrated significant associations between relapse and knowledge (p < 0.013), motivation (p < 0.0001), emotional support (p <0.004), social support (p = 0.002), and moral support (p < 0.0001). Logistic regression analysis identified motivation as the most influential factor (Wald = 8.026, p < 0.005). The study concludes that strengthening intrinsic motivation and consistent family involvement are essential strategies in relapse prevention. Integrating family-based aftercare programs into rehabilitation services is recommended to ensure sustainable recovery.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the structure of complex sentences in contemporary Arabic texts. Following this description, the study will determine the appropriate translation strategy into Indonesian to produce an acceptable translation in the Indonesian language. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing data in the form of complex sentences collected from contemporary Arabic books, particularly those in the fields of politics, thought, and law. The data are analyzed by identifying the structural composition of clauses, including main clauses, subordinate clauses, and coordinative-subordinate relations, then tested through translation strategies; segmentation, addition, and/or reduction as well as shift. The results of this study indicate that the complexity of Arabic sentences, in addition to the length of the structural composition, is also caused by the density of the relations of each clause, the use of ḍamīr mustatir, and the combination of certain syntactic functions within a single sentence. Therefore, an acceptable translation into Indonesian requires breaking down complex structures into simpler ones, without losing their semantic aspects. This research offers novelty both theoretically in the study of Arabic-Indonesian linguistics and translation, as well as in the practice of clause-based translation as an approach to complex Arabic sentences.

Abstract

Background: In the landscape of Indonesian Islamic Higher Education, the museums at UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh and UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang serve as pioneering institutional models. These repositories function as "learning laboratories," utilizing Object-Based Learning (OBL) to bridge the gap between historical artifacts and contemporary academic discourse. Purpose: This study investigates the perceptions of museum managers and academics regarding the dual role of university museums: as internal pedagogical supports for campus life and as external instruments for community engagement and cultural diplomacy. Methods: Adopting a qualitative comparative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and direct field observations at both university sites. The analysis focused on the integration of museum resources into the "Tri Dharma" (Teaching, Research, and Community Service) framework of Indonesian higher education. Findings: The study shows that these museums are very important for the intellectual lives of students and faculty and are also very important for reaching out to the community. However, despite their success in fostering cultural engagement, their potential is often hampered by a lack of formal institutional recognition and integrated management protocols. Originality/Value: This research underscores the necessity for a robust legal and policy framework, facilitated by university leadership and the Ministry of Education, to formalize the status of university museums. Strengthening these institutional foundations is essential for the sustainable development of museum-based pedagogy within Indonesia’s State Islamic Universities.

Abstract

The 95-95-95 strategy aims to control the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) HIV/AIDS  epidemic by ensuring that 95% of People Living With HIV (PLHIV) know their status, 95% of those diagnosed receive antiretroviral therapy  Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), and 95% of those on treatment achieve viral suppression. Despite national commitments, Indonesia’s progress especially in South Sulawesi remains below target. This study assessed the HIV/AIDS program situation and needs in Makassar City using a rapid assessment with a mixed-methods approach, prioritizing quantitative data. A total of 96 respondents completed structured questionnaires, and 13 individuals participated in focus group discussions. Findings indicate persistent barriers to testing, treatment access, and adherence, including stigma, low health literacy, side effects, and inadequate support systems. While some PLHIV reported consistent treatment and clinical improvement, non-adherence was still observed. Programmatic needs include targeted health education, supportive policies for key populations, improved communication skills among outreach workers, and non-discriminatory health services. Addressing these gaps requires community-based, evidence-driven interventions to optimize the HIV care continuum. Strengthening stakeholder collaboration and tailoring programs to the real needs of key populations are crucial to accelerate progress toward achieving the 95-95-95 targets and ending the HIV epidemic by 2030.
