Abstract

Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder in children caused by inadequate nutrition, affecting their physical and cognitive abilities. One contributing factor to stunting is early marriage, which is closely related to a low understanding of adolescent reproductive health. This study aims to analyze the effect of animated educational video media on adolescents' knowledge of reproductive health in efforts to prevent stunting. This quantitative study uses a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test arrangement. Data collection uses total sampling with 66 respondents. The research is conducted at SMPN 5 Satap Kunto Darussalam. The measurement tool is a validated and reliable questionnaire on reproductive health, sexuality, and teenage pregnancy prevention. The data is analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results show an increase in adolescents' knowledge before and after the intervention with animated educational video media. Statistical tests confirm that the intervention is effective in improving adolescents' average knowledge regarding reproductive health, with a p-value of 0.000 (< α 0.05). Animated educational video media effectively improves adolescents' knowledge about reproductive health in efforts to prevent stunting. This media can serve as a useful tool for adolescents to enhance knowledge and actions related to reproductive health and stunting prevention.

Abstract

Folic acid is essential for supporting maternal health and fetal development, with a daily requirement of 400 mcg. Folic acid deficiency can cause maternal anemia and fetal growth and development disorders. However, compliance of pregnant women in taking folic acid supplements is still low, due to lack of knowledge and forgetting to take supplements. To improve compliance, health education and telenursing efforts can be applied as an effective solution. This study used a quantitative approach using the one group pretest posttest method. The sample in the study amounted to 34 pregnant women who were taken using non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling type. The analysis used used the Wilcoxon statistical test. After being given health education and telenursing on the level of compliance of pregnant women drinking folic acid, the results showed an increase in the average compliance between pretest and posttest. The average value before being given health education and telenursing was 2.7353 (SD = 1.24307), after being given health education and telenursing the average increased to 6.7500 (SD = 1.88997). The results of the Wilcoxon test analysis showed that there was an effect of health education and telenursing with the results of p value (0.000) < α (0.005). Providing health education and telenursing has an effect on increasing the compliance of pregnant women in consuming folic acid at Puskesmas Payung Sekaki.

Abstract

This community service activity began with the implementation of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with partners, which served as an initial exploration to design service programs that were relevant to the needs of the community. Partners in this activity are the manager of the school business unit and the parents of students. The results of the FGD resulted in an agreement on the focus of activities with stages, namely: (1) Education to improve food quality and nutrition in the prevention of stunting from an early age, and (2) Processing of local fish products (snakehead fish) as a zero waste-based food diversification. Through this FGD, an overview of needs, challenges, and opportunities that can be the basis for the implementation of counseling programs is obtained. It is hoped that the results of this activity can increase partners' knowledge about the processing of local fish food products in an effort to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation is an effort to optimize environmental conditions to prevent the spread of disease and improve public health. Inadequate implementation of environmental sanitation, including access to clean water and use of unsanitary toilets, contributes to an increase in environmentally based infectious diseases. This research aims to explore community behavior related to environmental sanitation in the wetland area along the Siak River. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews with six informants, selected by purposive sampling, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Some practices reported by the informants align with environmental health standards, such as disposing of waste at designated landfills, managing drinking water, and maintaining household environments. However, there are still practices that do not align with health standards, such as disposing of feces into rivers and using river water for household needs. Poor sanitation practices, if carried out over a long period of time, will endanger health, quality of life, and the environment. These practices are attributed to poor community habits and economic constraints that hinder informants from constructing adequate sanitation facilities. The role of relevant institutions is needed in empowering and improving sanitation infrastructure so that environmental sanitation practices that meet health standards can be implemented.
