Abstract

Microplastics are particles that have a size of <5 mm and their existence might be able to contaminate the biota in the aquatic environment, such as care fish. Caru fish was collected in the Dumai city fish landing base in September - December 2022 to determine the abundance of microplastics in caru fish. The method used in this study is a survey method; samples of caru fish were obtained from Fish Landing Base (PPI) Dumai, and the samples were analyzed for the microplastic content in the laboratory. The samples used were 90 caru fish divided into three size classes. The parameters measured included type of microplastic, microplastic abundance, microplastic colour and the relationship between care fish size and microplastic abundance. The abundance of microplastics from the three size class of fish shows that the size class 22.1-24 cm had a higher average abundance of microplastics with an average value of 5.7 particles/individual. The type of microplastics found in this study were fibre, film and fragment. The relationship between the length of the caru fish and the abundance of microplastics has not been influenced by the size of the carp fish.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The aim of this study is to examine the impact of the shift learning system on the learning outcomes, motivation, and understanding of history subject students in Grade XI at State Senior High School 6, Bengkulu City. Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through structured and unstructured interviews, observations, and document reviews. Tools included notebooks, audio recorders, and cameras for documentation. The data analysis followed a four-step process: data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification. No specific software was mentioned for data processing. Main Findings: The shift learning system improves teacher-student interactions and creates a more focused learning environment. Students report better comprehension in smaller classes, while teachers find class management easier. However, challenges include increased teacher workload, uneven understanding due to shorter sessions, and difficulty for some students in adapting to independent tasks. Lecture methods remain effective but may cause boredom among students. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study uniquely explores the specific impact of the shift learning system on history education for Grade XI students in Bengkulu City, focusing on teacher-student interactions, learning outcomes, and material comprehension. It provides new insights into adapting teaching methods in resource-limited settings and offers a local perspective that can guide similar educational policies elsewhere.

Abstract

Damage to roads indicates a condition where the structural and functional aspects of the road are no longer able to provide optimal service to the traffic passing through it. If road damage occurs, it can result not only in the obstruction of economic and social activities but also in the occurrence of accidents. To determine the level of damage and the type of repairs needed for a road segment under review, a method is required. In this study, the IKP method (Pavement Condition Index) and IRI method (International Roughness Index) are used. The objectives of this research are to determine the road damage level using the IKP method on the South Cilegon Ring Road, to determine the road roughness level using the IRI method on the South Cilegon Ring Road, to compare the values of road damage level using the IKP and IRI methods on the South Cilegon Ring Road, and to address road damage based on the road condition assessment results. The results of this study show that there are five types of damage on the South Cilegon Ring Road in both the right and left lanes: Line cracks, Punchout, Plate Separator, Corner cracks, and Large patches. The smoothness level (IRI) on the South Cilegon Ring Road in the left lane is in good condition with percentage values of 60% for good, 15% for fair, and 25% for severe damage. Meanwhile, in the right lane, the road condition is good with percentage values of 75% for good, 20% for fair, and 5% for light damage. The proposed solution for road condition management on the South Cilegon Ring Road as a whole, following Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No. 13/PRT/M/2011, is a routine maintenance program. The relationship between the road roughness value (IRI) and the road pavement damage value (IKP) is analyzed through regression analysis, resulting in the equation IKP = 0.0012(IRI)^2 – 0.1648(IRI) + 8.8719.

Abstract

Fruit leather is a traditional product from Turkey. Kappaphycus alvarezii and sorbitol in making fruit leather are needed to maintain the texture of the product during storage. Sorbitol has a hydrophilic -OH group that is able to bind water (humectant) andK. alvarezii can improve texture and the quality of fruit leather. This study was conducted to determine the effect of sorbitol andK. alvarezii addition on fruit leather characteristics and shelf life of pedada fruit leather products. This study used five treatments and three repetitions. The research parameters include the number of bacterial colonies using the Total Plate Count (TPC) method, nutritional content test, and organoleptic (sensory) test. Data analysis in this study used ANOVA one factor and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) for quantitative data and Kruskal-Wallis test for qualitative data. The results showed that the samples with the number of bacterial colonies that met SNI 7388-2009 standards were only samples before treatment, 1 week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks of storage. The moisture content of each treatment met the standard of <25%. The results of panelist assessment showed that the shelf life of fruit leather products did not significantly affect (p>0.05) the organoleptic test aspects tested such as appearance, aroma, taste, and texture.

Abstract

The fisheries and marine sector in East Java has abundant potential, one of which is Banyuwangi district. Banyuwangi Regency has potential in freshwater aquaculture because it has 324 rivers with an area of 735 km2 and swamps and reservoirs of 60 hectares. One of the villages in Banyuwangi Regency is Segobang Village, which has the potential to have abundant water sources and continuous flow. This potential can be utilized by training and assisting fish nurseries in Segobang Village by utilizing continuously flowing water and Smart Aquaculture Automatized System (SAAS) technology by utilizing biofilters and running water and aeration as a source of oxygen.  The stages carried out in this community service are as follows: initial assessment of the location, infrastructure and technology development, periodic training and mentoring, implementation and monitoring of the cultivation process, and continued marketing and sales. After the training, the Segobang Village community showed a significant increase in knowledge. The average pre-test scores ranged from 30 to 51, while the post-test scores increased to 79 to 87. This improvement shows that participants better understand the SAAS and its use in fish farming. Continued training and practice can help strengthen the adoption of this technology in the community.

Abstract

The motorcycle repair shop is one of the factors that guarantees the comfort of using a motorcycle. Without a repair shop, riders will find it difficult to provide routine maintenance and repair their problem motorbikes. The data that has been collected is not only as archival data by the workshop but is utilized as data that is processed as information data that is used to increase sales of motor spare parts. This also has an impact on the utilization of existing sales transaction data because transaction data which is usually used as an archive causes accumulation of data whose benefits are not known, even though if the data is processed properly it can be useful as information used to make decisions in obtaining new knowledge about sales besides that it is difficult to make the right decision to determine the stock of goods based on spare part purchasing patterns, as well as the availability of repair shops in every corner of the city does not necessarily guarantee the comfort of motorbike users because there is no fast and accurate information. To get this information, it can be done using data mining techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of carrageenan addition on the physicochemical properties of fruit slice jam made from Sonneratia caseolaris. This mangrove fruit contains 0.32% pectin, making it a potential raw material for jam production. However, conventional jam has limitations in practicality, leading to the development of fruit slice jam, which has a compact, non-sticky, and plastic-like texture. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: P0 (control, 2% pectin), P1 (1.25% carrageenan), P2 (1.50% carrageenan), and P3 (1.75% carrageenan), each replicated five times. The physical parameters analyzed included hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, and springiness, while the chemical parameters consisted of moisture content, ash content, reducing sugar, and pH. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA at a 95% confidence level, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results indicated that increasing carrageenan concentration significantly (P<0.05) decreased adhesiveness, springiness, and moisture content, while hardness, cohesiveness, ash content, reducing sugar, and pH increased. Thus, carrageenan addition significantly influences the physicochemical properties of fruit slice jam made from S. caseolaris, offering a promising innovation for fruit-based jam products
