Abstract

Ikan Lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) merupakan komoditas perikanan pelagis yang sangat bernilai ekonomis dikalangan masyarakat Indonesia. Ikan Lemuru memiliki kelebihan yaitu keberadaannya yang berlimpah di perairan lau Indonesia, harganya yang sangat murah serta kandungan omega-3 yang sangat baik untuk tubuh. Kebutuhan akan ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) yang tinggi menyebabkan tingginya angka penangkapan komoditas ini di perairain, sehingga dapat menyebabkan resiko penurunan jumlah populasi dialam. Pengelolaan yang tepat pada komoditas ini tentunya diperlukan akan dapat meminimalisir resiko yang dapat terjadi. Pengelolaan akan dapat terlaksana dengan tepat apabila berdasarkan atas data informasi yang memadai, salah satunya adalah informasi mengenai keragaman genetiknya. Kajian ini mengumpulkan pustaka dari penelitian terdahulu mengenai keragaman genetik ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) di Wilayah Perairan Indonesia untuk dapat memberikan gambaran mengenai keragaman Ikan Lemuru dari segi genetiknya. Nilai keragaman genetik dilihat dari nilai keragaman haplotipe (Hd) karena keduanya memiliki kolerasi yang positif untuk menggambarkan keragaman genetik dari suatu komoditas. Hasil kajian memperlihatkan nilai keragaman genetik ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) di Wilayah Perairan Indonesia memiliki nilai yang termasuk kategori tinggi. Hasil ini menggambarkan bahwa ditengah tingginya kegiatan penangkapan, ikan lemuru (Sardinella lemuru) secara genetik masih memiliki keragaman yang tinggi sehingga dimungkinkan komoditas Ikan Lemuru memiliki adaptasi yang tinggi terhadap kondisi lingkungan.Kata kunci: Sardinella lemuru, keragaman genetik, keragaman haplotipe Sardinella lemuru is pelagic commodities that have economic values for the Indonesian. S. lemuru has some of the major advantages, such as much population on Indonesian marine, low price, and has Omega-3 for the human body. The high demands of Lemuru Fish cause a high rate of cached, that can cause the risk of population degradation. Proper management of these commodities are needed to decrease the risk impact, that can be done rightly based on the equal value of information, and one of them is genetic diversity. This research compiles the recent researches about the genetic diversity of the Sardinella lemuru in Indonesian to get the explanation about Lemuru Fish diversity. The value of genetic diversity observed is based on the diversity value of Haplotype (Hd), because these two values have a positive correlation to make a whole representation from a commodity. The results of this review show that the genetic diversity of Lemuru Fish on Indonesian marine territorial has the high-value category. These results explain that in the high activities of fishing, Lemuru Fish genetically still have a high diversity that leads to the conclusion Lemuru Fish commodities has a high-level ability to adapt from environmental conditions.Keywords: Sardinella lemuru; genetic diversity; haplotype diversity

Abstract

Biodegradable plastics are increasingly being promoted as environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional plastics. However, under aquatic conditions, their degradation may remain incomplete, leading to the formation of microplastics and leachates containing potentially toxic compounds. These leachates can threaten aquatic organisms, particularly microalgae, which act as primary producers and form the base of marine food web. Despite these concerns, limited research has examined the sublethal toxicity of biodegradable microplastic leachates on microalgae. This study aimed to evaluate the toxic effects of leachates derived from biodegradable polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics on the growth of the green microalgae Chlorella spp. A 96-hour static toxicity test was conducted under laboratory conditions using a completely randomized design with five concentration levels (0, 0.1, 1.0, 10, and 100 mg/L). The algae were cultured in EDTA-free Walne medium with an initial cell density of 104 cells/mL. Cell density was measured at the end of exposure to determine growth inhibition and calculate the 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50). The results showed a clear concentration-dependent response, with PP leachate exhibiting significantly higher toxicity (IC50 = 0.48 mg/L) compared to HDPE leachate (IC50 = 682.49 mg/L). These findings suggest that the chemical composition and leachability of additives differ among plastic types, influencing their environmental impact. This study highlights the potential ecological risks of biodegradable plastics and emphasizes the need for stricter regulation of additives and comprehensive ecotoxicological assessments.

Abstract

The variability of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a distribution in the southern waters of East Java is heavily influenced by the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) phenomenon. This study examines oceanographic parameter variability, their relationship with the IOD from 2003 to 2014, and fishing dynamics in the southern waters of East Java, particularly at PPN Prigi. Data utilized include SST and chlorophyll-a from Aqua-MODIS satellites, the Dipole Mode Index (DMI), and 12 years of fish production records. The analysis reveals significant fluctuations in SST and chlorophyll-a, with a strong inverse relationship (correlation: –0.677), where chlorophyll-a concentrations rise as SST decreases. Positive IOD events reduce SST, while negative IOD events increase SST, with correlations of –0.591 for SST and IOD and 0.601 for chlorophyll-a and IOD. During the positive IOD events of 2006–2008, SST decreased, leading to increased fish production. Conversely, the negative IOD in 2010 raised SST, contributing to a decline in fish stocks. Over the 12-year period, a notable increase in Bali Sardinella and skipjack production was observed, despite a sharp decrease in 2010 caused by higher SST levels. This study highlights the importance of understanding the interactions between SST, chlorophyll-a, and IOD in developing sustainable fisheries management strategies. These insights can support efforts to optimize fish resource utilization, mitigate the impacts of climate variability, and ensure long-term fisheries productivity in the southern waters of East Java, particularly for strengthening adaptive resource planning within climate-sensitive pelagic ecosystems and supporting informed decision-making for regional fisheries policies and sustainable blue-growth initiatives.
