Abstract

This study examines the influence of gender bias in family communication on toxic masculinity among adolescent boys. The research employed an empirical quantitative approach with an associative design involving male students aged 12–15 years at SMP Negeri 74 Jakarta. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed using Google Forms and analyzed using binary logistic regression. Gender bias in family communication was measured through dimensions of marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, violence, and double burden, while toxic masculinity was assessed through threat and boost dimensions. The findings indicate that gender bias in family communication significantly affects toxic masculinity among adolescents, with a Nagelkerke R Square value of 0.719. The results demonstrate that patriarchal communication patterns within families contribute to the reproduction of rigid masculine norms among adolescent boys. Family based gender awareness is therefore essential to support healthier and more inclusive adolescent social development.

Abstract

Digital transformation across Southeast Asia has expanded connectivity yet produced uneven social outcomes, raising concerns about whether technological progress enhances or constrains social mobility. Persistent disparities in access, digital capability, and governance coordination suggest that infrastructure growth alone cannot ensure equitable participation in emerging digital economies. This study investigates how digital inequality shapes mobility trajectories through a policy-oriented, non-empirical design grounded in secondary analysis of macro-level indicators and institutional reports from international development agencies. The analytical framework integrates multidimensional digital divide theory with comparative policy interpretation to examine interactions between access, capability formation, and governance regimes across ASEAN contexts. The findings indicate that digital inequality functions as a structural filter rather than a temporary developmental gap. Connectivity expansion tends to reproduce existing socio-economic hierarchies when not accompanied by investment in digital education, workforce adaptation, and inclusive governance. Digital capability emerges as the key mediator linking technological access to upward mobility, while coordinated policy environments strengthen the diffusion of opportunity across social groups. The study concludes that effective digital transformation requires integrated strategies combining infrastructure, skills development, and participatory governance to align technological progress with equitable social advancement in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This study investigates language shift and youth slang within digital communication, examining how adolescents and young adults (aged 15–24) utilize social media platforms Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter to produce, disseminate, and negotiate semiotic meaning. Employing an empirical mixed-methods design, data were collected through naturalistic observation of 2,500 social media posts, content scraping of slang expressions, and 40 semi-structured online interviews, enabling triangulation of textual, visual, and conversational semiotic elements. Quantitative analysis revealed differential frequency and platform-specific distribution of slang categories, while qualitative findings highlighted multifunctional deployment of humor, intimacy, rebellion, and topical innovation as core semiotic roles. Influential factors driving adoption included peer endorsement, platform affordances, algorithmic exposure, cognitive engagement, and socio-cultural context, with temporal dynamics and network centrality accelerating lexical innovation. Findings underscore that language shift in digital environments is an emergent, socially regulated, and contextually mediated process, reflecting both identity negotiation and cultural adaptation. This research contributes a robust framework for understanding digital language evolution, offering insights into youth sociolinguistics, semiotic function, and the interplay of social, technological, and cognitive determinants in contemporary communication.

Abstract

Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) has become increasingly important in Engineering Decision Support Systems because growing algorithmic complexity often reduces transparency, accountability, and practitioner confidence despite substantial improvements in predictive capability. This study develops a conceptual framework that integrates engineering data processing, artificial intelligence inference, explainability mechanisms, and human-centered decision support within a unified multilayer architecture. A non-empirical system design methodology based on design-oriented systems research, architecture-based evaluation, and scenario-driven analytical simulation is employed to examine architectural consistency, interoperability, traceability, and explainability across representative engineering contexts. The analytical results indicate that explanation fidelity, interpretability, transparency, traceability, and modular scalability function as complementary engineering quality attributes that collectively strengthen trustworthy decision support while preserving logical consistency between engineering evidence and computational reasoning. The proposed architecture also demonstrates technology independence and adaptability across heterogeneous engineering domains through explicit modular interactions and standardized information flows. This study contributes an architecture-centered perspective that advances theoretical understanding of explainable engineering intelligence while providing a reproducible conceptual foundation for future empirical implementation, quantitative validation, and standardized evaluation of trustworthy Engineering Decision Support Systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of halal food literacy on adaptation strategies for meeting halal food needs among Indonesian migrant families in Japan. A quantitative associative approach was used, with 96 respondents selected via simple random sampling in the Toyota area of Japan. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman’s correlation and non-parametric cubic regression. The results indicate that halal food literacy falls into the moderate category, characterized by a strong reliance on halal labels, while halal awareness remains low. Adaptation strategies also fall into the moderate category, with innovation emerging as the primary form of consumption adjustment. A positive and significant relationship exists between literacy and adaptation strategies, with a high correlation strength. However, this relationship is non-linear, meaning that increased literacy does not always consistently result in increased adaptation. This condition indicates that structural and social factors also influence the adaptation patterns of migrant families in meeting their halal food needs in Japan.
