Abstract

Frozen shoulder causes the capsule covering the shoulder joint to shorten and contract. Frozen Shoulder problems are pain, spasm, limited joint range of motion, muscle weakness and decreased functional activity. Physiotherapy examination includes examining pain with Visual Analogue Scale, spasm with palpation, range of motion with goniometer, muscle weakness with Manual Muscle Testing, and functional activity with Shoulder Pain And Disability Index. In this case the technology chosen is Short Wave Diathermy (SWD) and Exercise Therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physiotherapy management on Rotator Cuff Rotator Tendinitis dextra e.c with SWD modalities and Exercise Therapy. This research was conducted at Kajen Hospital, Pekalongan Regency. The results of the study obtained 4 treatments as follows: (1) there was a decrease in motion pain (2) there was a decrease in spasm (3) there was an increase in ROM (4) there was an increase in muscle strength (5) there was an increase in functional activity. The conclusion of the study is that physiotherapy interventions with SWD modalities and Exercise Therapy can reduce problems that arise in Frozen Shoulder e.c Rotator Cuff Tendinitis conditions.

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a condition of delayed physical and mental development caused by chromosomal abnormalities. These chromosomal changes cause various disorders, such as hypotonia, motor control weakness, and coordination disorders that impact children's gross motor skills, fine motor skills, language, cognitive, social, and emotional development. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy management using Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT), Sensory Integration (SI), and Play Exercise (PE) modalities in children with Down Syndrome. The study used a descriptive analytical method with a Case Study design on a 10-year-old girl who underwent three therapy sessions at YPAC Prof. Dr. Soeharso Surakarta. Data were collected through hetero anamnesis with instruments for examining tone, muscle strength, balance, posture, sensory, and functional activities. The results showed an increase in muscle tone, core muscle strength, balance on PBS points Standing with Feet Together and Standing with Feet in Front, an increase in posture scores to 85 out of 100, and an increase in functional activity abilities in dimension E (walking, running, and jumping). Sensory impairments were still found in the visual, auditory, proprioceptive, and vestibular aspects. It was concluded that NDT, SI, and PE modalities were effective in improving muscle tone, strength, balance, sensory responses, and functional activity abilities in children with Down syndrome, although postural improvement did not show significant improvement.

Abstract

Background: Delayed Development (DD) is a form of developmental delay characterized by motor skill deficits relative to peers; it can affect sensory function, reflexes, muscle strength, functional abilities, and overall growth and development. The prevalence of DD at YPAC Surakarta rose from 116 patients in 2017 to 135 patients in 2018, highlighting the need for appropriate physiotherapy management. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy using NSMRD & S, NDT, and Play Exercise on improvements in sensory function, reflexes, muscle strength, functional ability, and child growth and development. The study employed a descriptive-analytic method using a case study design; assessments utilized sensory and reflex checklists, XOTR, GMFM, and DDST, and the intervention consisted of six therapy sessions. Results: An improvement in personal-social and fine motor development was observed, rising from 62.5% to 87.5% after six therapy sessions. Conclusion: NSMRD & S, NDT, and Play Exercise can reduce problems in Delayed Development (DD). Parents are encouraged to continue regular exercise and stimulation at home to maintain and optimize therapy results.
