Abstract

Digital literacy is one of the important literacies that needs to be developed at schools, both by teachers and students. Teachers’ low mastery of digital literacy will certainly hinder the students’ achievements during the teaching and learning process. Therefore, it is important for teachers to actively participate in updating themselves on digital developments, including the use of making interactive learning videos. The purpose of this program is to strengthen the digital literacy of teachers through interactive learning videos making training using the Kinemaster application. The methods used in this training were training and mentoring, assignments, and workshop results. It was previously confirmed that prior to this training, the trainee teachers had never known and used the Kinemaster application to make learning videos. The result of this activity is that 85% of teachers have understood and are able to use the Kinemaster application to make interactive learning videos. From the workshop, as many as 75% of teachers were able to complete the making of simple learning videos properly and on time.

Abstract

Literacy and numeracy skills are the minimum competencies that students need to learn. However, many studies show that the literacy and numeracy level of students in Indonesia is still very low, including English literacy. TOY APP is an Android-based application designed as an independent learning tool. It tries to make the learning process becomes easier and more fun. It facilitates literacy practices in Bahasa Indonesia, English, as well as numeracy for elementary school students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the TOY App application based on the student’s responses. This study is research and development research that followed the Thiagarajan development procedures. The subjects of this study were 10 elementary school students. Data collection techniques were carried out with an interview-based questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that this application received a very good response from the students seen from the elements of easiness, functionality, appearance, and whether it increases curiosity. This means that the application has been developed is ready to be used as a means of an independent learning tool to increase the literacy and numeracy levels of students.

Abstract

Solving mathematical problems is an important thing in mathematics. Solving narrative problems requires complex thinking skills, namely cognitive skills and understanding of using the right methods or tactics. Awareness of students in using their thoughts to plan, control, and assess their cognitive processes and tactics is the meaning of metacognition. This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe the level of students' metacognition in solving mathematical problems, especially a set of material. The population in this study is class VII B of SMPN 2 Sukodadi. To focus on data analysis, 3 students were closed who represented problem-solving abilities, they are high, medium, and low. Based on the data analysis conducted by researchers, the subject who has a high level of mathematical problem-solving ability is included in the "reflective use" metacognition level. The subject who has a moderate level of mathematical problem-solving ability is included in the "strategic use" metacognition level, and a subject who has a low level of problem-solving ability in math problems is classified as “aware use” metacognition level.  From these results, it is recommended for teachers to pay attention to the tendency of students' metacognition levels based on students' problem solving levels, both in planning, learning processes and assessment in order to realize differentiated learning.

Abstract

Teacher readiness in planning learning is an important element of teacher success in achieving learning goals. In the Merdeka Curriculum, this learning plan is realized in the form of teaching modules, one of the approaches of which can be directed at local wisdom. The purpose of this article is to describe teachers' readiness in developing mathematics teaching modules based on local wisdom. A case study of teacher readiness was conducted on 21 junior high school mathematics teachers in Magetan Regency who came from different schools during teacher training which was measured through understanding before and after training as well as the resulting teaching module products. The research results show that the level of teacher readiness in developing teaching modules has reached the criteria of proficient to proficient after receiving training and there has been an increase compared to the previous situation. However, some teachers still have difficulty in developing learning objectives and developing problems based on local wisdom. Several challenges in developing this teaching module have also been identified and several alternative solutions have been explained.

Abstract

The poor problem solving abilities of students is still a scourge in mathematics learning, mainly in terms of solving mathematical story problems. This is because in the case of story problems, students are required to understand the information and the questions in mathematical problems at the beginning in order to create a mathematical model which reflects the problem being solved. This study aimed to examine the achievement and improvement of students’ abilities in solving mathematical story problems about arithmetic sequences and series using LAPS-Heuristic learning model. The study method was the Intact-Group Comparison. The subjects were 43 students who were divided into two groups. The first group received conventional learning, while the other group received LAPS-Heuristic learning. The results showed that both achievement and improvement of students’ abilities in solving mathematical story problems who received LAPS-Heuristic learning model were better than in students’ abilities who received conventional learning.

Abstract

Abstract

The availability of teaching materials with a project-based approach to improving bilingual literacy skills still needs to be improved. An alternative solution is to develop project-based integrative teaching materials. This study examines the feasibility of project-based integrative teaching materials in the form of books, and an application called the TOY App. This research is research and development following the Thiagarajan model. This study involved 3 learning experts who validated books and applications in three aspects: material, language, and design, and 10 students. Data collection through product validation sheets and questionnaires. Data were analyzed by calculating the average percentage of each aspect. The results of the expert validation show that both the book and the application have a very good level of validity, with an average percentage of 87.1% for the material aspect, 85.6% for the language aspect, and 88.3% for the design aspect. The TOY App obtains 82.7% for material aspects, 83.1% for language aspects, and 85.7% for design aspects. The student's response to the book is in the good criteria, and the application category is very good. This study showed that integrative teaching materials, in the form of project-based literacy and numeracy books and the learning application "TOY App," received very good responses from expert validators and students. These results indicate that the project-based integrative book and the TOY App application are feasible.
