Abstract

The use of petroleum fuel is currently higher. Although there have been many studies of biodiesel, but in the production process requires lot of money and complicated production process. Therefore, this is used waste cooking oil as fuel. This study is conducted to get optimum injection pressure and fuel temperature when use waste cooking oil as fuel. The aims is to know how much effect of injector pressure and fuel temperature of waste cooking oil to the diesel engine performance. This research uses experimental method. There are 4 varations of injector pressure 130 bar, 140 bar, 150 bar, 160 bar. Variations of fuel temperature are 80 °C, 90 °C, 100 °C, 110 °C. The variation of load is 2000 watt at 1200 rpm, 1300 rpm , 1400 rpm, 1500 rpm. The result is the optimum injector pressure on variation 140 bar and fuel temperature of waste cooking oil is 90 °C. Trendline of SFC value when waste cooking oil used as fuel was lower than when used pertamina dex as fuel at various loads. Injector pressure and fuel temperature of waste cooking oil have contribution of 11,063% and 7,444% to performance of diesel engine.

Abstract

Turbin air savonius adalah jenis turbin sumbu vertikal yang mempunyai torsi awal yang tinggi dan dapat berputar pada kecepatan aliran fluida yang rendah, sehingga dapat diterapkan pada perairan di Indonesia. Turbin tersebut dapat digunakan pada aliran air untuk mengubah energi kinetik menjadi energi mekanik. Potensi tersebut akan dapat meningkatkan performa turbin. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode simulasi CFD (ComputationalFluid Diagram) dengan software Ansys Fluent dan mengkombinasikan dua sudu berbeda yang merupakan hasil variasi nilai (n) pada persamaan Myring n=1 dan n=2. Turbin yang akan disimulasikan memiliki ukuran tinggi 40 cm dan diameter 40 cm. Selain kecepatan arus yang digunakan sebesar 0,22 m/s. Di depan sisi returning blade, silinder sirkular dipasang sebagai pengganggu dengan variasi diameter 8 cm, 12cm, dan 16 cm yang berfungsi untuk meningkatkan performa turbin. Stagger divariasikan pada sudut 0º, 30?, 60º. Hasil yang diperoleh pada simulasi ini menunjukkan bahwa diameter stagger 16 cm dengan sudut 60? memiliki peningkatan performa tertinggi, yakni sebesar 19,9007%. Sedangkan variasi diameter stagger 16 cm dengan sudut 0? menurun sebesar 30,1087% dari turbin air savonius tanpa stagger.

Abstract

Energy is a need that must be met in human life, if the population increases, the need for energywill also increase. A technology is needed to support human energy needs. Therefore, low temperature heatutilization is carried out using the Organic Rankine Cycle as an energy take off from a grid-scale thermalenergy storage in the form of sand media where the heat stored is heat wasted from the heat pump. After theprocess simulation is carried out, the best and feasible fluid to run the system from an ammonia heat pumpis N-Pentane with an efficiency of 7.074%. The storage medium is silica sand. The heat exchanger design onthe tube has an outer diameter of 60.3 mm for the ORC and 42.2 mm for the heat pump with an inner diameterof 54.8 mm for the ORC tube and 32.5 mm for the heat pump. The length of the heat exchanger design pipeis 165,57 m for the ORC and 479,23 m for the heat pump.
