Abstract

Abstract The Kampar River is one of the rivers in the province of Riau, which is in Bukit Barisan around the Province of West Sumatera and it rises on the east coast of Sumatera island. The National Sanitation Foundation-Water Quality Index (NSF-WQI) is an index method of water quality assessment to analyse both and poor water quality for the survival of aquatic organisms and water pollution control program assessment data. The purpose of this research is to determine the quality value of Kampar river water in Lubuk Siam Village area based on NSF-WQI. Measurement and sampling of the Kampar river water quality is conducted in February - March 2020. The measurement and sampling of water quality parameters is done at 3 research stations with 1 sampling point on the surface of the water. Measurement and sampling of water quality parameters at all three research stations is conducted 3 times with a time interval of one week. Some parameters of water quality to determine the index of NSF-WQI values are temperature, turbidity, total solids, pH, BOD, dissolved oxygen, nitrates, and total phosphate. The results of measuring water quality parameters at each station are as follows: Temperature 28,33–29,66 °c, turbidity 32,73–33,47 NTU, TSS 41,66–46,66 mg/L, dissolved oxygen 6.11–6.77 mg/L,pH 5, BOD5 3.85–4.59 mg/L, nitrate 0,0541–0,0715 mg/L, total P 0,1821–0,2345 mg/L. Quality assessment of Kampar River water in Lubuk Siam Village area based on NSF-WQI is 64,19–66,83 with moderate water quality criteria. The value of NSF-WQI on the Kampar River in Lubuk Siam Village area can still support the life of aquatic organisms. Keywords:Aquatic, Anayse,Kampar River, Method, Parameter, Value

Abstract

AbstractSea cucumber is a species that has high economic value if it is used properly. The habitat that sea cucumbers tend to prefer is the bottom of the water with a substrate of mud or sand, such as those in Teluk Tempurung, Bukit Tambun Tulang Village. To find out the level of preference for an organism to its habitat, it is necessary to look at the distribution pattern of the organism it self. This research aims to determine the distribution and density ofHolothuria atra and also it’s ecological condition of Teluk Tempurung. The method used in this research  is a swept area (area sweeping) which is called a belt transect. This method was used to observe biota in a certain area. There are 3 transects for sea cucumber observation with a transect length of 50 meter, on each transect there are 3 plots measuring 5x5 meter. Observations were made in three repetitions. The type of sea cucumber found in the waters of Teluk Tempurung is Holothuria atra with a density ranging from 0.329 to 0.404 (organisms/ m2). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the distribution pattern of Holothuria atra in Teluk Tempurung, Bukit Tambun Tulang Village is clustered. Keywords: Substrate, Seagrass Meadows, Coral Reefs, Habitat.

Abstract

Plastics are the synthesis of polymerization of different types of monomers. Almost all kinds of plastic will drift or float inside the water body. It will cause the plastic to be torn apart and damaged by the sunlight, oxidation and abrasion of mechanically forming plastic particles. Ecobrick is one way of handling plastic waste by packing clean and dry plastic into plastic bottles. Community empowerment to process plastic waste into something useful in the long term is one of the keys to the success of the plastic waste recycling program. This activity will provide benefits for community service participants, members who implement counselling, higher education and government. The target audience in these community service activities is the village community Bunga Raya, Siak regency. Results of public service activities that have been implemented by the community have been able to make seats from Ecobrick. In society, it is expected not only to make seats from Ecobrick but also to create other creations. So it can be used as a new business opportunity for the target community.
