Abstract

The condition of raw water is getting worse due to increased pollution of water resources, namely surface water. The raw water treatment methods that can be applied are very diverse, one of which is physical and chemical treatment, namely the flocculation coagulation process followed by a sedimentation process using Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the type and concentration of coagulants on the coagulation process of the hydraulic system on the turbidity of water in river water and to determine the effect of settling time on the coagulation process of the hydraulic system on the turbidity of Bono Pabean, Sedati-Sidoarjo. The results obtained in this study using a parshall flume with a neck size of 2.54 cm obtained an optimal discharge of 12 L/minute with a sampling time of 120 minutes. The discharge has a velocity gradient (G) of 2427/sec, Froude number (NFr) 3.84 and Reynolds number (NRe) 8683. Meanwhile, the optimal coagulant dose in this treatment is 130 mg/L and the effectiveness obtained by hydraulic stirring with using parshall flume and baffle channel, managed to eliminate 2.25% of the Turbidity parameter.

Abstract

Final solid waste disposal place of Paguan which operates since 1993 still uses an open dumping system and requires additional land because it is no longer able to accommodate the increasing waste capacity over time. The purpose of this research is to plan a landfill with a Sanitary Landfill system according to existing regulations in Indonesia. This planning involves disposal zones planning, gas piping, leachate piping and other supporting facilities in the form of detailed engineering design, BOQ and RAB. The planning of this Sanitary Landfill TPA has an area about 4 hectares consisting of 2 disposal zones with an area of 0,78 Ha and 0,69 Ha. The landfill method uses the canyon method. According to the calculation, the life of this landfill is only 4,5 years starting from 2020 to 2024. The cost required to build the Bondowoso District Landfill is Rp. 24.929.391.437 (Twenty four billion nine hundred twenty-nine million three hundred ninety-one four hundred and thirty seven rupiah).

Abstract

The average waste generated by the city of Sidoarjo is 1224 tons per day. The composition of plastic waste is 11% and food waste is 70.3%. The production of fuel derived from waste (Refused Derived Fuel / RDF) aims to convert some of the combustible waste in municipal solid waste into fuel. This research is an experimental study to determine the composition and type of the best adhesive made from a mixture of organic and inorganic waste with molasses (molasses), paraffin, and starch adhesives and compared with the existing briquette quality standards. This study analyzed the value of water content, volatile content, ash content, calorific value, and the rate of burning of briquettes using a descriptive method. From the research results, it is known that paraffin has a higher calorific value when compared to starch and molasses. The best calorific value in V3 is a mixture of 40 grams of inorganic waste and 80 grams of organic waste with paraffin adhesive. This composition produces a calorific value of 5218 kcal/kg, 1.04% water content, 17.34% ash content, 7.4% volatile content, and 0.138 gr/sec combustion rate. The value of water content, volatile content, and calorific value meet SNI 01-6235-2000. However, the value of the ash content not fulfilled

Abstract

Rivers water resources have characteristics and properties different from other resources, where humans still need water to survive. The rapid growth of the population, especially in urban areas, has a serious impact on the decline in the carrying capacity of the environment. Eco-enzyme produced from simple fermentation of fresh vegetable or fruit waste, brown sugar, and water in a ratio of 1 : 3 : 10 is useful in reducing the level of pollution. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of eco-enzyme against the elimination of TSS, TDS, and Surfactant levels in domestic waste. In this study, we used variations in anaerobic processes and coagulation-flocculation with a concentration of eco-enzymes of 7,5% ; 5,0% ; 2,5%. Anaerobic processes take a residence time of 5, 10, 15 days. While the coagulation process – flocculation with 150 rpm on fast stirring for 1 minute, 60 rpm slow stirring for 15 minutes. Eco-fruit enzymes were more effective, the anaerobic process concentration of 5.0% was able to reduce the most optimal pollutant parameters by 8.70% for TSS, 62.42% for TDS, and 7.5% concentration by 98.87% at a stay of 15 days. While the coagulation – flocculation process with a concentration of 2.5% is able to set aside TSS by 7.33%, TDS by 42.07%, and concentration of 7,5% is able to set aside Surfactants by 96.29%.

Abstract

Batik liquid waste has a high dye content and TSS content. This can affect the photosynthetic process of plants and can affect air quality. So that this study aims for the color dissolved in the waste can be adsorbed. The method used in this study is a combination of electrocoagulation and adsorption methods designed to treat and/or reduce pollutant levels, especially TSS and colors contained in batik waste so that it can be disposed of into water bodies. The results of the preliminary test of batik liquid waste on TSS parameters of 460 mg/l, turbidity 151.2 NTU, and color 1245 PTCo. The fixed variables used were contact time for 90 minutes, voltage 12 volts, and size of activated carbon 30 mesh. The result of the electrocoagulation process is that the greater the voltage and the longer the contact time, the higher the percent removal produced. Parameters of TSS message removal were 87.39%, turbidity 71.56%, and color 81.93%. Meanwhile, in the adsorption process, the best results were at 30 mesh size with 39% TSS removal, 69.77% turbidity, and 61.78% color.

Abstract

Management and utilization of organic waste has not given significant results. The lack of community participation and the high cost of waste processing technology are the reasons for which there are no significant results. One way to degrade organic waste is by using microorganisms that can act as bioconversion agents of organic waste by using black soldierlarvae (Hermetia illucens). This study aims to determine the effevtive time in the process to be able to decompose organic waste that can be carried out by black soldier larvae. Larvae have reached the highest level to decompose waste.

Abstract

Pengelolaan serta pemanfaatan sampah organik belum memberikan hasil yang signifikan. Kurangnya partisipasi masyarakat serta mahalnya teknologi pengolahan sampah sering menjadi kendala dalam permasalahan sampah. Salah satu cara untuk mendegradasi limbah organik dengan menggunakan organisme yang dapat berperan sebagai agen biokonversi limbah organik adalah dengan menggunakan larva lalat tentara hitam (Hermetia illucens). Studi pendahuluan menunjukkan efektivitas penggunaan unit pengembangbiakan larva lalat tentara hitam yang digunakan sebagai alat dekomposisi sampah organik rumah tangga menggunakan variasi media tumbuh. Penggunaan rumah biakan larva lalat tentara hitam pada skala rumah tangga merupakan salah satu alternatif pengolahan sampah organik serta yang dapat dilakukan dengan mudah. Hasil dekomposisi sampah juga dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menjadi kompos. Kegiatan sosialisasi dan penggunaan rumah biakan larva lalat tentara hitam skala rumah tangga di Desa Bandarsari, Kecamatan Ngoro, Kabupaten Mojokerto dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dalam pengolahan sampah rumah tangga yang berkelanjutan. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukkan masyarakat di Desa Bandarsari, Kecamatan Ngoro, Kabupaten Mojokerto antusias dan berkeinginan menggunakan rumah biakan larva lalat tentara hitam untuk pengelolaan sampah organik rumah tangga.

Abstract

Pengelolaan penyediaan air bersih di rumah sakit merupakan faktor penting yang perlu dipantau dan dievaluasi secara berkala. Perbedaan kebutuhan antara kegiatan umum dan khusus memerlukan pengelolaan tertentu agar memenuhi kuantitas dan kualitas sesuai Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 7 Tahun 2019. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengelolaan dan pendistribusian air bersih di Rumah Sakit Haji Surabaya sesuai peraturan yang berlaku. Pengamatan dilakukan secara menyeluruh mulai dari kuantitas penyediaan air bersih, kualitas air baik untuk penggunaan higiene sanitasi maupun penggunaan khusus sesuai baku mutu, hingga mekanisme pemeliharaan dan pemantauan utilitas yang tersedia. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan data observasi langsung di lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi diperoleh hasil bahwa pengelolaan air bersih di Rumah Sakit Haji Surabaya tergolong baik dan memenuhi regulasi sesuai Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI Nomor 7 Tahun 2019. Perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan adalah perbaikan teknis pada pengelolaan dan pengawasan dengan menggunakan sistem digitalisasi dan penambahan petugas untuk meningkatkan kinerja sesuai dengan K3 yang berlaku.

Abstract

In general, well water or ground water often contains iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) ions in it. One of the effective water treatment processes to remove heavy metals is adsorption. Natural adsorbents such as chitosan can be effective adsorbents used to reduce heavy metal concentrations in the environment. One of the weaknesses of chitosan is the strength of the mechanical structure and low stability. Therefore, crosslinking modifications were carried out to improve the mechanical structure and reduce solubility. This study aims to determine the effect of sodium tripolyphosphate on the process of making chitosan shrimp shell-sodium tripolyphosphate adsorbent and to determine the optimum conditions of the variation of the adsorbent and the mass used. The research variables used were the sodium-tripolyphosphate concentration of 0.25%; 0.50%; and 1.00%, the mass of the adsorbent in the column was 5 grams and 7.5 grams, and the sampling times were 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, 80 minutes, 100 minutes, 120 minutes, 140 minutes and 160 minutes. The results showed that the 1% chitosan-sodium tripolyphosphate adsorbent with a mass of 7.5 grams was the most optimal in reducing the content of Fe by 92% and Mn by 93%.

Abstract

The need for water in an area is certainly different. Water needs in rural and urban areas are clearly different. This difference in water demand is influenced by water usage, and this difference in water usage will give rise to the value of water fluctuations. This study aims to determine the value of water usage fluctuations in rural residential areas so that water suppliers can know the exact amount of water discharge that will be distributed to customers in the area, in this way it is expected to make the water distribution system more effective, then it is also expected that the water supplier is able to know the number of water losses distributed to make improvements to the network system in the residential area. This research study is located in a residential area of the village, with a research time of 24 hours. From the results of observations in the field which were then calculated, the total debit of water usage per day from a total of 632 customers in the area was 320 m3 / day or 3.70 liters / second. As for the secondary data obtained, the total water distribution to customers in the village settlement area is 5169 m3 / month or 1.99 liters / second for the period April 2023. So that the water loss rate in the area is 46.21%. The peak hour debit is 5.39 liters/second with a water pressure value of 1.8 ATM.
