Abstract

This study was conducted to describe students’ perceptions about the genetic course, laboratory experiment, laboratory facilities, and also students’expectations about the development of the virtual laboratory as an alternative experiment in Genetics Courses. A descriptive quantitative method was used in this study. The participants involved were 49 students enrolling in a genetics course at a public university in Banten, Indonesia. Data were collected through a set of questionnaires. To analyze the data,we employed a descriptive quantitative approach in the form of a percentage. The results showed that the genetic course was considered difficult by the students. The reason is that the material is abstract, and the source of learning is difficult to understand. The most commonly used learning media in the lecture is Power Point.Learning strategies are oftenused,i.e.,the discussions and laboratory work in the laboratory. Students need interesting, communicative, and interactive learning media. The student response is enthusiastic about virtual laboratory development. The expected virtual laboratory criteria are can be used offline, looks interesting, easy to operate, and containsaudio-visual.

Abstract

Using the wild plant for consumptino is a knowledge passed down through generations that can be documented for the purposes of futher study. This study aim to document the kind of wlind plant for survival in TNBTS . the method used is descriptive analisis with data collection techniques throuhg in-depth interviews and continued exploration of plants along the route of ascent of mount semeru. Base on the result of in-depth interviews and exploration of found 9 spesiesof plants that can be uses to survival material in TNBTS. Parts of the plants used is the leave. Plants in can be found alonge side the route of travel, the edge of the forets anf in the forest

Abstract

The correlation between students’ information communication technology (ICT) literacy and conceptual knowledge from a gender perspective is essential to understanding the causal effects of student learning. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the relationship between students’ ICT literacy and conceptual knowledge in a genetics course, especially from a gender perspective. This study employed a descriptive research method that used randomized sampling. The instruments used were conceptual knowledge and ICT literacy test sheets. The data were analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlational statistics. The results showed male students have higher ICT literacy than females. Otherwise, male students have a lower conceptual knowledge than females. Furthermore, male students’ ICT literacy and conceptual knowledge showed a strong relationship, while female students showed a weak relationship. The findings support the idea that integrating ICT into genetics curricula might help students develop their ICT literacy and conceptual knowledge more effectively, especially female students.

Abstract

Further analysis of the effectiveness of integrating project-based learning (PjBL) in Invertebrate Zoology courses to improve students' science process skills and conceptual understanding needs to be carried out. This research was aimed to analyze the integration of PjBL in the Invertebrate Zoology course on scientific process skills and conceptual understanding of student. As for seeing the effect of each indicator from each predictor, a qualitative descriptive analysis was carried out. Respondents in this study were students of the Biology Education Study Program FTTE Universitas Bengkulu. A sample of 30 respondents was taken by random sampling technique. The research instrument is a questionnaire for scientific process skills and tests for understanding concepts. The hypothesis is tested using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The integration of PjBL has a significant influence on the scientific skills process of 0.038 with an F value of 4.524 and also has a significant influence on concept understanding at 0.018 with an F value of 0.018. It was concluded that there was an effect of the integration of PjBL on scientific process skills and conceptual understanding of Invertebrate Zoology, with a significance level of 0.05, so that it can be taken into consideration in developing learning in the Invertebrate Zoology course.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kecakapan komunikasi mahasiswa selama proses kegiatan pembelajaran Keanekaragaman Hewan jurusan Pendidikan Biologi di Universitas Negeri Malang yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Agusstus 2017. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yakni mahasiswa pendidikan Biologi kelas B sebanyak 32 orang yang sedang mengikuti mata kuliah Keanekaragaman Hewan pada semester tiga. Data diperoleh dengan mengamati proses kegiatan belajar secara langsung oleh observer dengan mengisi lembar aktivitas mahasiswa selama kegiatan perkuliahan berlangsung dalam 4 kali pertemuan serta tes tulis diakhir siklus. Hasil observasi awal pada penelitian ini diketahui bahwa keterampilan mahasiswa dalam berkomunikasi  dinilai masih kurang, diantaranya; (1)  metode pembelajaran yang digunakan selama kegiatan pembelajaran adalah diskusi presentasi, sehingga kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menganalisis, mensintesis, dan mengevaluasi fakta-fakta dalam konsep biologi rendah ; (2) kegiatan diskusi presentasi yang dilakukan hanya didominasi oleh 4-5 mahasiswa saja; (3) kemampuan mahasiwa dalam membagikan pikiran pada temannya kurang, sehingga untuk untuk meningkatkan kecakapan komunikasi mahasiswa selama kegiatan perkuliahan, maka dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) berbasis lesson study (LS) kurang lebih selama 2 siklus, dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing.

Abstract

Keterampilan berkomunikasi yang efektif baik secara oral maupun tertulis merupakan salah satu kompetensi dalam menghadapi kehidupan di abad ke-21. Berdasarkan pengalaman membina matakuliah Pengembangan Profesi Guru, ditemukan mahasiswa kurang terampil dalam berkomunikasi, baik secara oral maupun tertulis. Pembelajaran berbasis berbasis masalah dengan metode Hybrid Learning dapat menjadi solusinya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan metode Hybrid Learning terhadap keterampilan komunikasi mahasiswa pada matakuliah Pengembangan Profesi Guru. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini dilakukan pada 2 kelas matakuliah Pengembangan Profesi Guru. Pengumpulan data keterampilan komunikasi dilakukan dengan rubrik observasi keterampilan komunikasi mahasiswa. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistika deskripstif dan independent t-test. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan metode hybrid learning tidak menimbulkan perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan komunikasi mahasiswa di kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen, khususnya di aspek konten serta tampilan dan informasi.  keterampilan komunikasi, khususnya aspek orientasi dan sintaks, pada mahasiswa kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dari pada mahasiswa kelompok kontrol.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan modul keanekaragaman tumbuhan home science process skill berbasis inkuiri terbimbing bermuatan karakter untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan proses di MAN 1 Malang. Modul dikembangkan berdasarkan model 4D Thiagarajan. Peningkatan hasil belajar dan keterampilan proses diukur dari tingkat keefektifan produk berdasarkan nilai pretest-posttest, muatan karakter, dan keterampilan proses sains. Hasil validasi dan uji coba produk menunjukkan bahwa modul keanekaragaman tumbuhan home science process skill berbasis inkuiri terbimbing bermuatan karakter layak dan efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan proses di MAN 1 Malang
