Abstract

Students’ previous knowledge at a superficial level is reviewed when they solve mathematical problems. This action is imperative to strengthen their knowledge and provide the right information needed to solve the problems. Furthermore, Pirie and Kieren's theory stated that the act of returning to a previous level of understanding is called folding back. Therefore, this descriptive-explorative study examines high school students' levels of knowledge in solving mathematics problems using the folding back method. The sample consists of 33 students classified into male and female groups, each interviewed to determine the results of solving arithmetic problems based on gender. The results showed differences in the level of students' understanding in solving problems. Male students carried out the folding back process at the level of image having, formalizing, and structuring. Their female counterparts conducted it at image-making, property noticing, formalizing, and observing. Subsequently, both participants were able to carry out understanding activities, including explaining information from a mathematical problem, defining the concept, having an overview of a particular topic, identifying similarities and differences, abstracting mathematical concepts, and understanding its ideas in accordance with a given problem. This study suggested that Pirie and Kieren's theory can help teachers detect the features of students’ understanding in solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

Students' level of creativity influences their creative thinking processes. Students with different levels of creativity tend to demonstrate variations in how they approach creative thinking. This study is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach, aiming to describe the creative thinking processes of junior high school students in solving open-ended mathematical problems. The subjects of this study consisted of three students: one with a highly creative thinking level, creative thinking level, and moderately creative thinking level. Data were collected through written tasks involving mathematical problem solving and follow-up interviews. The results revealed that the student with a highly creative thinking level demonstrated strong abilities in integrating various sources of information, generating ideas independently and flexibly, and producing accurate solutions. The student with a creative thinking level was able to construct and plan ideas effectively but tended to use familiar strategies without further exploration, resulting in correct yet less innovative solutions. Meanwhile, the student with a moderately creative thinking level was only able to generate a single, simple idea, used familiar strategies without systematic planning, and produced inaccurate solutions while lacking the ability to evaluate the outcomes effectively. The results of this study can be implemented in mathematics learning by providing students with opportunities to develop their creative ideas through open-ended problems, encouraging the exploration of various problem-solving strategies, and creating a learning environment that values original and flexible thinking processes.

Abstract

Penguasaan terhadap konten pembelajaran menjadi salah satu aspek krusial dalam proses belajar mengajar. Siswa di tingkat sekolah memerlukan pemahaman yang mendalam serta penguatan materi yang tepat pada setiap topik pembelajaran. Ketika konsep-konsep matematika telah dipahami secara benar, siswa akan lebih mudah dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika. Hal ini pada akhirnya dapat mendorong peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran tersebut. Pada dasarnya tenaga pendidik di SIB Thailand telah memberikan pemahaman matematika sesuai dengan materi yang ada pada kurikulum. Akan tetapi, miskonsepsi materi matematika khususny materi fungsi komposisi bisa saja dialami oleh siswa-siswa SIB Thailand. Oleh karena itu, tim pelaksana mengadakan kegiatan penguatan konten matematika untuk siswa-siswa di Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok (SIB) Thailand dalam bentuk Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Internasional. Tahapan kegiatan mulai koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, persiapan materi, angket, dan penganalisaan hasil. Kegiatan tersebut dikatakan berhasil karena rata-rata hasil post test siswa aadalah 70 dan  80% siswamenyatakan proses kegiatan berjalan baik/sangat baik berdasarkan materi yang disampaikan narasumber, cara penyampaian dan sikap narasumber.

Abstract

In this article, the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Max-Min Average Composition method is used which aims to choose the right video conferencing application for learning mathematics. The results show that the learning process in Mathematical economics, Calculus, Statistics, and Geometry courses is more appropriate using the Microsoft Teams video conferencing application than Zoom and Google Meet.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi pada konsep dasar matematika (seperti bilangan dan geometri) di sekolah dasar dapat menghambat perkembangan numerasi siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memperkuat kompetensi matematika guru SD di Kabupaten Mojokerto agar mampu mengidentifikasi dan meminimalisir miskonsepsi, sekaligus menguatkan keterampilan numerasi. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada 26 Juli 2025 di SD Banjar Agung 1, diikuti 25 guru dari berbagai kecamatan. Metode kegiatan meliputi penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, studi kasus miskonsepsi, dan tes kompetensi menggunakan platform Quizizz. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui tes kompetensi, angket, dan tugas refleksi. Hasil tes kompetensi menunjukkan 63,64% peserta mencapai ketuntasan dengan rata-rata nilai 82 dari 100, sedangkan refleksi guru mengungkap miskonsepsi yang sering terjadi pada materi pecahan, geometri, dan nilai tempat bilangan. Angket evaluasi memperlihatkan peningkatan pemahaman guru terkait strategi numerasi kontekstual yang dapat diterapkan di kelas. Dengan demikian, program ini terbukti menguatkan pengetahuan konseptual dan keterampilan pedagogis guru, yang berpotensi berdampak positif pada pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile of students' creative thinking in solving math problems in terms of gender. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were one male student and one female student. The two subjects had high and equal mathematical abilities. The research results obtained in this study were (1) The creative thinking profile of male students in solving math problems, namely at the (read and explore) stage of understanding the problem, the male subject found important elements in the problem including elements that were known and asked . After knowing what was asked in the question, the subject also knew and explained verbally every element of the information that was known and what was asked had a relationship. At the (select a strategy) stage of choosing a solution strategy, the male subject knows the various ideas used in solving TPM and can explain well the reasons for using these ideas so that this fulfills the flexibility indicator. At the (solve the problem) stage of carrying out problem solving, the male subject put forward various strategies used in solving the problem, namely by combining the rules of subtraction with multiplication of integers and using a number line. After knowing the ideas and strategies used, the subject implements these ideas and strategies in solving TPM problems so that this shows that the subject meets the indicators of fluency and novelty. At the (review and extend) stage of checking the answers again, the male subject verbally said that the solution to the problem was correct by checking the answers. The strategy used in checking answers with the rules of integer arithmetic operations is to see the results of changes in the temperature of each city and to make a number line so that in this case it meets the indicators of flexibility (flexibility) and fluency (fluency).

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative research with the aim of describing the critical thinking process of Junior High School students in solving mathematical problems in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive style. The subjects of this study consisted of 2 students of grade VIII junior high school with reflective cognitive style and impulsive cognitive style. The selection of both subjects also considers equivalent mathematical ability, same sex, communicative, and willing. Data collection technique is done by providing MFFT (Matching Familiar Figured Test), mathematical problem solving tasks, and interviews. Data were analyzed based on critical thinking indicators contained in FRISCO (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity, Overview). The results showed that the critical thinking process of both students in solving the problem is relatively the same. At the stage of understanding the second problem, students already meet the FRISCO indicator. At the stage of making a plan, reflective students already meet the FRISCO indicator, but impulsive students do not do an overview. At the stage of implementing the plan impulsive students do not pass the overview. At the last stage, namely re-examining, impulsive students do not do situation and clarity. In addition between reflective and impulsive students have different ways or solutions in solving math problems. Students with reflective cognitive style in answering a given problem can understand something as a whole, analyze it much better, and do the planning and follow the plan, so that students with reflective cognitive style can do the process of thinking critically when facing a given problem.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive research with the aim of describing students' mathematical problem solving with Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI) cognitive styles. The subjects of this study consisted of 2 grade VIII junior high school students with Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI) cognitive styles. The selection of both subjects also considers equal mathematical ability, equal gender, communicative, and willing. The data is analyzed based on the polya problem-solving stages, namely understanding the problem, planning the solution, implementing the solution plan, and rechecking. The results of the study showed that the mathematical problem solving of the two students in solving the problem was relatively the same. At the stage of understanding the problem, both students are able to write down what is known and what is asked in the question, but FD tends to write the same thing about what is in the problem while FI uses his own language. At the stage of planning the settlement of FD fans, FIs are equally able to make strategies or steps to solve the problem. At the stage of implementing the settlement plan, FD and FI are both able to carry out the strategy that has been prepared previously. FI is confident that the answer obtained is correct. However, it is different from FD where he is not sure or doubtful about the answer because in the process of solving the problem there are errors caused by lack of thoroughness. At the stage of re-checking, the FI confidently said that he had re-examined carefully and was confident in the answers obtained. In contrast to FD who said he had double-checked but was not sure whether the answer obtained was correct or not.

Abstract

Kemiskinan merupakan masalah multidimensi yang dialami di Indonesia. Meskipun demikian, kemiskinan di Indonesia sudah mulai membaik. Perubahan kearah yang lebih baik tersebut menjadi salah satu bukti keberhasilan dari program-program kemiskinan yang diluncurkan oleh pemerintah. Salah satu program yang memiliki kontribusi tinggi dalam menekan angka kemiskinan di Indonesia adalah Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH). Meskipun memiliki kontribusi tinggi, pada kenyataannya dalam proses penyalurannya masih banyak yang tidak sesuai atau tidak tepat sasaran. Pada penelitian ini, digunakan metode Entropi-TOPSIS untuk menentukan prioritas keluarga penerima manfaat PKH supaya terhindar dari masalah ketidaktepatan sasaran. Metode Entropi-TOPSIS merupakan gabungan dari metode pembobotan Entropi dan TOPSIS. Metode pembobotan Entropi digunakan untuk mendapatkan bobot kepentingan setiap kriteria. Sedangkan metode TOPSIS digunakan untuk memperoleh alternatif terbaik dari sejumlah alternatif yang disediakan. Adapun kriteria yang digunakan dalam penentuan prioritas keluarga penerima manfaat PKH yaitu status tempat tinggal, luas bangunan tempat tinggal, kondisi tempat tinggal, status sanitasi BAB, sumber air minum, sumber penerangan, jumlah tanggungan, pekerjaan kepala keluarga, pendidikan tertinggi kepala keluarga, dan kepemilikan aset. Selain itu, alternatif yang disediakan ada sebanyak 26 keluarga di RT 008 dan RT 009, RW 002, Desa Jatikalen, Kecamatan Jatikalen, Kabupaten Nganjuk yang memiliki komponen PKH dan tercatat dalam kartu keluarga yang sama. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan menggunakan metode pembobotan Entropi didapat kriteria kondisi tempat tinggal yang memiliki pengaruh besar dalam penentuan prioritas keluarga penerima manfaat PKH. Kemudian, dengan menggunakan metode Entropi-TOPSIS diperoleh urutan prioritas keluarga penerima manfaat PKH dan keluarga K20 menempati urutan pertama dengan nilai preferensi sebesar 0,70418144. Kata Kunci: Kemiskinan, PKH, metode Entropi-TOPSIS.
