Lead is one of the heavy metals of pollutant sources that are highly toxic and can not be degraded thus accumulating in sediments and aquatic organisms including Tubifex worms. The objectives of the study were to determine the concentration and to analyze the correlation of lead concentration (Pb) contained in water, sediments and Tubifex worms. The research method used is survey. Samples were taken at the waters of the landfill. The determination of lead concentration (Pb) was used by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) method. The results of measurements of lead concentration (Pb) in water, sediments and Tubifex worms tabulated in tables and graphs, were analyzed descriptively. To prove that the increase of Pb concentration in Tubifex worms along with the increase of Pb content in water and sediment, a simple linear regression analysis was performed. The results showed the concentration of Pb in water (0.4923 ± 0.0091 mg / L - 0.6647 ± 0.0067 mg / L), in sediments (1.3803 ± 0.0042 mg / L - 1.4530 ± 0 , 0046 mg / L) and in Tubifex worms (0.9213 ± 0.0032 mg / L - 0.9767 ± 0.0060 mg / L). The concentration of Pb in the Tubifex worm has increased with increasing concentrations of Pb in water and sediment.

Human and industrial activities in the area of Manyar Subdistrict Mangrove Waters, Gresik District can increase pollution and the presence of heavy metals in aquatic environments and aquatic organisms. This triggers input of heavy metals, especially Pb and Cu. Mangroves can accumulate and have a high tolerance for heavy metals so they can be used as plants for phytoremidiation purposes (phytostabilization). The mangrove ecosystem can be used as a control of heavy metal pollution and can also be used as a pollutant trap. This study was conducted to determine the potential of phytoremidiation based on the accumulation and translocation of heavy metals in Avicennia marina mangroves in absorbing heavy metals Pb and Cu from their environment. Based on research results MacFarlane et al., (2007) mangrove Avicennia marina is one of the plants that can effectively accumulate heavy metals due to its root system. The sample was analyzed using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). The research parameters include levels of Pb and Cu metals in sediments, mangrove roots and leaves. The results of Pb heavy metal concentrations ranged from 0.30 ppm - 4.84 ppm and Cu ranged from 0.27 ppm - 11.42 ppm with the highest values found in sediment stations 2. Avicennia marina at the study site was excluder because the BCF value < 1 which ranged from 0.02 - 0.18 ppm and phyto-extraction because the value of TF > 1 ranged from 0.35 to 1.69 ppm. The results of this study indicate that Avicennia marina mangroves can be developed into phytoremidiation agents because they are able to absorb and transfer heavy metals from the environment to other body tissues.

Centella asiatica is a herbal medicine has been used for many studies in some animals as antioxidant properties. This study was aimed to enhance the level of SOD in Cyprinus carpio after oral administration of C. asiatica extract. In the present study, phytochemical screening of bioactive constituents, antioxidant assay, and their effect on SOD in C. carpio liver were investigated. C. asiatica extract was obtained by maseration for 24 h using ethanol as a solvent. C. asiatica extract with 50, 100, 150 and 300 mg kg-1 body weight were administered every 3 days for two weeks. On the last day of experiment, fishes were killed and liver were removed from the body. The results showed that C. asiatica extract had some bioactive compounds such as flavonoid, alkaloid, terpenoid, tanin, saponin and DPPH scavenging activity with an IC50 value of 125 μg mL-1. C. asiatica extract also enhanced the level of SOD in fish liver. The SOD level was significantly difference compared to the control group with P<005. These results indicate that the ethanolic extract of C. asiatica had a potential antioxidant properties by scavenging free radical and enhancing the SOD level as antioxidant deffense inside the body.

Mercury is used as a gold binder and released into the aquatic environment that causes pollution. The concentration of mercury in gold washing wastes must be minimized so that it is not harmful to the waters. One way is to precipitate waste. This study aims to detect mercury concentrations and water quality in each reservoir pool before waste is discharged into the water. The waste pool is six pools (P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6) with one pool of clean water (P0). Mercury was detected using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), the water quality measured was temperature, pH, and color of wastewater. The research data were analyzed descriptively. The concentration of mercury in all settling ponds was between 0.021 ± 0.002 mg / L to 0.051 ± 0.005 mg / L). The decrease in the average mercury concentration from pond P1 to P6 is 16.7%. The concentration of mercury has exceeded the maximum allowed for mercury in water. The temperature in each pond has decreased from pond P1 to P6, but pH has increased.
