Abstract

There have been studies of the histological structure of male and female goat skins. The histological structure and histomorphometry were taken from two region of skin, which is the thorax and abdomen. The Samples were collected from 2-3 years old Etawah goat, and than was stained using a HarrisHematoxilin Eosin method. The data were analysis based on the region and sex. The results showed that the histological structure of Etawah cross breed consists of three layers were epidermis, dermis, and hipodermis respectively. The epidermis composed by stratum corneum, granulosum, spinosum, and basal. We were found keratin layer on the surface of epidermis. The dermis consists of papillare and reticulare stratum. That was found many sebaceous glands, sudorifera gland, pili muscle, hair follicles, blood vessels, and collagen fibers. The hypodermis layers of Etawah cross breed females skin mostly consists of the fatty tissue, whereas in males we have found thick and horizontally arranged connective tissue. The skin layer on male Etawah cross breed, thorax region thicker than the abdomen. The region and sex may have an effect on the histology structure and histomorphometry of Etawah cross breed skin.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the histological and morphometry structure of the intestine tenue of Etawah crossbreed. The small intestine samples were taken from sixteen young and adult female and male etawah crossbreed, and then hististological preparations were made with the Harris-Hematoksilin Eosin (HE) method. The results showed the histological structure of the small intestine distinguished from the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. Composed of four layers: the tunica mucosa is the thickest, submucosa, muscularis, and the thinnest is the tunica serous. The jejunal muscular tunica is thicker than the submucous tunica. Tunica mucosa consists of villi, absorptive cells, goblet cells, paneth cells, lamina propria, intestinal glands, and mucosal muscular lamina. In the tunica muscularis, smooth muscles were arranged in a circle on the inside and elongated outside, while tunica serosa was formed by loose connective tissue. In the tunica submucosa of the duodenum was found the brunner gland, the ileum was found peyer patches, whereas in the jejunum are found loose connective tissue and blood vessels.

Abstract

Skin is the largest organ in dogs that serves to overcome the presence of foreign agents both from exogenous and endogenous. One of the health problems on dog skin is dermatitis and can be found in almost all parts of the body. This study aims to observe changes in the histological structure of the skin of male and female dogs suffering from dermatitis on the caudal, dorsum, and abdominal extremities. A total of 24 research samples in the form of skin organs were collected from patients at the Udayana University Animal Hospital Teaching. The results showed that there was no difference (P>0.05), the histological structure of the skin of male and female dogs suffering from dermatitis, both skin from the caudal extremities, dorsum and abdomen. Histological changes found were: parasitic segments, hiperkeratosis, necrosis, degeneration, edema, hyperplasia, infiltration of stratum reticular fat cells, and infiltration of inflammatory cells. Infiltration of inflammatory cells, neutrofils, and macrophages are mostly found in the dermis while basofils are found in the epidermis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of immunoglobulin M (IgM) of bali cattle in Nusa Penida. The serum samples of 54 bali cattle that were kept in Nusa Penida based on geographical criteria consisted of highlands (Klumpu and Batumadeg villages) and lowlands (Ped villages), age covering young bali cattle (12-18 months ) and adults (24 months and over), while sex (male and female). The serum obtained was tested using the ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method. The results showed that 54 samples of serum of bali cattle in Nusa Penida were detected in the presence of levels of immunoglobulin M (IgM) with values ranging from 2.565 ng/mL – 8.834 ng/mL. The mean rate of serum IgM cattle raised in the lowlands (4,837 ± 1,385 ng / mL) was descriptively higher than in the highlands (4,761 ± 1,353 ng / mL), while for female bali cattle (5.018 ± 1.370 ng / mL) higher than male (4,477 ± 1.290 ng / mL), while adult bali cattle (4,869 ± 1.417 ng / mL) was higher than young bali cattle (4,707 ± 1.305 ng / mL), but statistically comparable from all categories showed no significantly (P> 0.05). The average rate of IgM of bali cattle maintained in Nusa Penida can be used as a data base of IgM profile of bali cattle that is maintained in Nusa Penida.

Abstract

One of the Bali cattle breeding maintenance is organic-based feeding. Organic-based feed is likely to not be as optimal as the composition of feed like feed in general, such as minerals and other organic substances. The condition and composition of the feed can affect the number of blood leukocytes and cause changes in the percentage of leukocyte cells such as basophils, eosinophils and neutrophils. This study aims to determine the percentage of basophils, eosinophils, neutrophils in bali cattle blood based on organic feed. This study was carried out on a farm owned by residents of the Village of Bulian, Kubutambah District, Buleleng Regency. Samples in the form of blood taken from 10 female bali cattle by vein using venoject. Next, blood smear preparations were made and then fixed and stained by Harris Hematoxillin-Eosin (HE). Percentage of basophils, eosinophils, neutrophils calculated by cross-sectional method. Data obtained and analyzed with descriptive quantitative. The results showed that cattle raised with an organic based maintenance system experienced basophilia, eosinophilia, and neutropenia.
