Abstract

Chicken nuggets are processed foods for chicken meat that have a high taste and favor the community. This activity aims: 1. to increase knowledge of how to make nuggets at home for the people of Jurong Ophir Nagari Koto Baru, 2. to improve the understanding and skills of the people of Jurong Ophir Nagari Koto Baru on how to make nuggets at home, and 3. to increase the income of chicken farmers in Jurong. Ophir Nagari Koto Baru. Meanwhile, the target of this activity is women and the people of Jurong Ophir. The methods used in this activity are counseling, demonstration, mentoring, and evaluation. The counseling provided is in the form of information related to chicken in nutritional content, shelf life, types of chicken derivative products, and the right technology in making the chicken derivative products. At the same time, the demonstration was carried out by the direct practice of making chicken nuggets. Each activity carried out mentoring and evaluation to determine the achievement of targets. The implementation of the activity went well, and even the participants were enthusiastic about participating in the training on making chicken nuggets. From this activity, there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of participants in making chicken nuggets. This activity has been able to help the people of Jurong Ophir Nagari Koto Baru to increase additional income for the community. From this activity, it can be concluded that the implementation of the activity has been successful and has received a good response. It is hoped that this training can increase the motivation of the participants to start the chicken nugget business to improve the community's economy. For the sustainability of this activity, assistance is needed so that the efforts carried out by mothers can develop and be sustainable.

Abstract

An earthquake is a sudden vibration or movement from within the earth, spreading over the earth's surface. This disaster caused some damage to buildings from light to heavy damage and people who were injured, starved, or left homeless. To avoid and minimize the risk of earthquake disasters, it is necessary to carry out mitigation and simulations to deal with disasters. Earthquake mitigation is everything done to minimize the impact or disaster that an upcoming earthquake will cause. This activity aims to improve and provide essential knowledge and understanding of earthquakes and the steps that must be taken before, during, and after an earthquake. This activity was carried out in Pondok Makmur Village, Air Manjunto District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province. The target of this activity is children and youth. The method used in this activity is counseling and simulation of earthquake disaster mitigation to children/teenagers. The counseling method was carried out by providing material about earthquakes, the causes of earthquakes, the consequences of earthquakes, and steps to deal with before, during, and after an earthquake disaster. Meanwhile, the training/simulation is carried out according to the instructions and the steps for dealing with an earthquake. The results obtained from this activity, activity participants gain improvement and knowledge in dealing with disasters, understand the importance of earthquake disaster preparedness, and become better able to deal with earthquake disasters that can occur at any time, and understand instructions and symbols in dealing with disasters. Furthermore, it can be concluded that earthquake mitigation and simulation are very useful for increasing knowledge and preparedness in dealing with disasters and reducing the risk of many victims and damage.

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a government policy to ensure the health and safety of workers. Based on law no. 1 of 1970 concerning Occupational Health and Safety, it is necessary to have knowledge and provisions regarding OHS to avoid the risk of work. In addition, the application of OHS is also essential to using tools, facilities, and infrastructure safely and efficiently. This activity aims to provide education and improve students' understanding of public vocational secondary schools 2 Bengkulu Utara by introducing potential hazards and hazard control as provisions and fundamental knowledge for students before carrying out internships to ensure occupational health and safety for students and minimize the occurrence of work accidents. This activity was carried out in public vocational secondary schools 2 Bengkulu Utara. This activity targets the students of public vocational secondary schools 2 Bengkulu Utara. This activity was carried out with the socialization method in the form of lectures or presentations, evaluations, and distribution of posters. The results obtained from the socialization and evaluation activities increase students' understanding and knowledge about the application of OHS in the workplace. The results obtained from the distribution of OHS posters increase students' understanding of the introduction of hazard identification and hazard control in the workplace. Based on this activity, it can be concluded that the students of public vocational secondary schools 2 Bengkulu Utara received education related to the introduction of potential hazards and hazard control and an increase in students' understanding of the application of OHS in the workplace. This activity is expected to increase students' awareness of the importance of implementing OHS.

Abstract

Cow and oil palm integration system stands for cattle and oil palm integration system. in general, cow and oil palm integration system is a farming activity that combines cattle and oil palm. System integration the cow and oil palm integration system is positively correlated and mutually beneficial. Seeing the potential of Lubuk Bento village, Bengkulu has a large area of oil palm plantations; this certainly has the potential to be applied to the model cow and oil palm integration system. The objectives of this activity are: 1. to increase the knowledge and understanding of Lubuk Bento village farmers in the application of environmentally friendly agriculture/Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). 2. Empowering farmers/breeders in processing livestock waste into bio urine and organic fertilizer/compost. This activity was carried out in the village of Lubuk Bento, Pondok Suguh District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu. The methods applied in this activity are socialization/ counseling activities and poster distribution cow and oil palm integration system. The activity begins with outreach to community leaders, farmers/breeders, and the local government. Furthermore, outreach activities were carried out for farmers/breeders and the community in Lubuk Bento village. The counseling materials provided are 1. introduction and counseling on bio urine processing, 2. processing livestock waste into organic fertilizer/compost. The results of the activities were that the participants were enthusiastic, received good responses, and even strongly supported this program. Furthermore, this activity can also increase the knowledge and understanding of farmers in processing liquid waste to produce bio urine, and solid waste is processed to produce organic fertilizer/compost. Seeing the high enthusiasm and understanding of farmers/breeders as well as support for this program, it is necessary to continue the application of this cow and oil palm integration system model. Besides that, it is necessary to assist farmers/breeders from the local Department of Agriculture and Livestock in applying the model integration system of cow and oil palm to increase the income of integrated farming system for cattle and oil palm.

Abstract

Mini elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott) is a very productive type of grass with a high nutrient content and is highly preferred by ruminants. This grass is small in size, has hairy stems, increased productivity, and has a 10–15% protein content. This grass can live in various places, is resistant to protection, responds to fertilization, and requires fertile soil. This elephant grass has the potential to be given to ruminants, so increased grass production needs to be raised with good cultivation techniques. This activity aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of farmers/breeders in the cultivation of superior grass/mini elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott). This activity was carried out in the Air Meruding Nagari Air Bangis area, Sungai Beremas District, West Pasaman Regency. This activity was carried out by lecturers and students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Andalas University, and their partners. The target activities (partners) involved in this activity are breeders and the community in the Air Merunding area, West Pasaman Regency. The stages of implementing the training include outreach/counseling, demonstration of planting mini elephant grass, monitoring, and evaluation. The results of the activities obtained from the mini elephant grass planting activities are given, where partners can plant mini elephant grass well. Furthermore, partners also benefit and have learned about growing superior grass as animal feed and gaining knowledge in the application of this grass. By planting excellent grass, partners/breeders are greatly assisted in overcoming difficulties in finding forage for their livestock.

Abstract

Beef cattle are one of the livestock animals that produce meat with high economic value. In general, development faces many challenges because cattle farming is still managed traditionally by the community. Good Farming Practices (GFP) are guidelines for farmers in conducting livestock farming businesses. The objectives of this activity are: to increase the community's knowledge about the application of good farming practices (GFP) to beef cattle to improve production performance and increase community income. This activity was conducted with the Mak Uniang Livestock Group in Rindang Alam, Koto Luar Village, Pauh District, Padang City. The method used is PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal), where partner lecturers directly act as facilitators and can immediately facilitate the community/partners in the implementation of activities. The learning method used to achieve the target activities is the participatory method. The partners of this activity are the Mak Uniang livestock group and the community in Rindang Alam, Koto Luar Village, Pauh District, Padang City. The stages of the activity include socialization/extension, which consists of presenting material and discussions. The material provided includes good livestock management (good farming practices). This activity received a very positive response and enthusiasm from the farmers. This is reflected in the farmers' interest in asking questions and their desire for technical guidance to promote sustainable farming. Additionally, the results of this activity show an increase in knowledge, understanding, and skills of the partners in implementing good farming practices (GFP) for beef cattle. The farmers have even committed to implementing what was conveyed by the speakers regarding the application of good farming to their cattle.

Abstract

Village-Owned Enterprises (VOEs) play a strategic role in promoting local economic development and improving community welfare in rural Indonesia. However, many VOEs, including VOEs Sako Jaya in Sako Pasia Talang Village, South Solok Regency, face persistent challenges, including weak institutional governance, limited human resource capacity, inadequate access to capital, and weak stakeholder collaboration. This study aimed to identify the institutional potential and challenges of VOEs Sako Jaya and strengthen its institutional capacity through a participatory, multi-stakeholder approach. A community-based participatory approach was implemented through preliminary surveys, field observations, focus group discussions, participatory workshops, mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods based on observations, documentation, and group discussions. The study involved VOEs managers, village government officials, MSME actors, academics, local government representatives, and private-sector partners. A total of 56 participants from nine villages, nine VOEs, and twelve MSMEs were involved. The findings identified three major institutional challenges: limited human resource capacity, inadequate business capital, and weak organizational governance and coordination. An institutional strengthening plan was subsequently developed, broiler chicken farming was selected as the priority business based on local potential and market demand, and a tripartite partnership involving the South Solok Regency Government, Universitas Andalas, and Supreme Energy was established to support financing, capacity building, and technical assistance. Overall, the participatory approach effectively strengthened institutional capacity, expanded strategic partnerships, and enhanced organizational readiness for sustainable rural enterprise development, providing a replicable model for strengthening village-owned enterprises and promoting community economic development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi populasi sapi potong berdasarkan bangsa, jenis kelamin, dan tingkatan umur ternak di daerah Suliki Kabupaten 50 Kota. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei, untuk menentukan lokasi penelitian digunakan metode simple random sampling. Sedangkan perolehan data penelitian digunakan metode snowball sampling. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah peternak sebanyak 184 orang selaku responden yang diperoleh dari enam nagari/desa. Variabel penelitian yakni karakteristik peternak, bangsa ternak, jenis kelamin, umur, faktor input dan output. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi populasi sapi potong menurut bangsa yaitu Peranakan Simmental (87,70%), Peranakan Ongole (8,41%), Brahman Cross (1,62%), Peranakan Limousin (1,30%), dan Sapi Pesisir (0,97%). Berdasarkan jenis kelamin dimana sapi jantan 71 ekor (22,97%) dan betina 238 ekor (77,03%) dengan tingkatan umur pedet (kecil dari 1 tahun) 79 ekor (25,57%), muda (1-2 tahun) 66 ekor (21,36%), dan dewasa (besar dari 2 tahun) 164 ekor (53,07%). Dari penelitian ini dapat ditarik simpulan bahwa komposisi populasi sapi potong di daerah Suliki Kabupaten 50 Kota mayoritas dipelihara bangsa sapi Peranakan Simental sebesar 87,70%, berdasarkan jenis kelamin adalah ternak sapi betina sebanyak 77,03% dan tingkat umur ternak yang terbanyak adalah sapi berusia besar dari 2 tahun yakni 53,07%

Abstract

Community service activities is carried out with the purpose of waste utilization water spinach, Ipomoea aquatica Forks, as a raw material alternative to artificial feed and improve the knowledge and skills of the fish farmers (the community) Village Koto Tangah in the business of making the feed / pellets fish in West Sumatra. The method used in this activity are (1) Lectures, and (2) Demonstration of making flour from waste water spinach and manufacture pellets / alternative fish feed with water spinach flour mixture. From the results of this service activities found that the knowledge and skills of Sawah Laweh farmer groups and Batang Kandis Jaya farmer groups fishing in Sungai Bangek Village Kelurahan Balai Gadang, Koto Tangah District, Padang, before being implemented service activities is still very low. However, the motivation or desire of the community farmer groups partners to undertake fish farming is huge. This can be seen from the wishes of the farmer groups partners to master the technology of waste utilization water spinach, Ipomoea aquatica Forks, as a raw material alternative to artificial feed are relatively high. Further results of this public service activities to increase knowledge and skills of the community in the development of cultured technology and alternative fish feed so that farming activities can run well in both areas partners.

Abstract

The West Pasaman area is an area that has a large enough potential for plantation and agricultural land. Kinali is one of the nagari in Pasaman Barat with an area of 489.64 km₂ is one of the nagari in this Regency which has a large carrying capacity of land and has the potential to develop cattle breeding business. Community service activities are carried out with the aim of providing information to farmers and the public about optimizing the use of "DEEA GestDect" as early pregnancy detection in popular cattle and increasing the knowledge and skills of farmers in livestock reproductive / pregnancy handling in the Kinali Pasaman Barat area. The methods used in this activity are (1) Counseling, and (2) Demonstration of the implementation of Artificial Insemination (IB) and the dissemination of technology using "DEEA GestDect" as a means of early pregnancy detection in popular cattle. From the results of the dedication activities that have been carried out, some conclusions can be drawn as follows: Knowledge and skills of farmers and communities in the Kinali Pasaman Barat area prior to the implementation of this community service are not familiar with early pregnancy detection in cattle. However, the motivation or desire of farmers and the community to undertake cattle breeding business is very large. This can be seen from the desire of farmers and the community to master the technology of early pregnancy detection technology "DEEA Gestdect" on people's cattle is very high. Furthermore, from community service activities can increase the knowledge and skills of the community in early reproductive / pregnancy handling of livestock in the Kinali Pasaman Barat area.
