Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to determine the optimal Biolacto probiotic boster dose on feed mixing to improve feed efficiency, growth rate and survival of coriander (Ompok hypopthalmus) in recirculation systems. The research was conducted for 40 days from February to April 2019. This research was conducted at the laboratory f aquaculture technology Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Riau University. The experiment method was done experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) which consists of 5 treatments and 4 replications, is treatment 1). 0 mL/kg of feed (control); 2).3 mL/kg of feed; 3).5 mL/kg of feed; 4).7 mL/kg of feed; 5).9 mL/kg of feed. The results of this study showed the addition of probiotics Biolacto in the feed to give effect to the growth rate of daily seeds of sheatfishes, feed efficiency and feed conversion ratio. The addition of probiotics at 9 mL/kg of feed gave the highest yield on the daily growth rate of 1.89%, the highest yield on feed efficiency of 84.61% and the best feed conversion ratio of 1.18. However, survival was not significantly different between treatments.Keyword : Sheatfishes, Probiotic Boster Biolacto, Resirculation system

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Stocking density is an important thing to consider in fish culture.Increased density affects the physiological processes and behavior of fish in their space. One of the technological innovations applied is fish farming integrated with plants through the aquaponic system. This technology, in principle, aside from saving land and water use, also improves business efficiency through the use of nutrients from the leftovers and fish metabolism for aquatic plants and is one of the environmentally friendly fish culture systems. This research was conducted on November to December 2018 in the Hatchery of TIU (Technical Implementation Unit) of Aquaculture Department, Marine and Fishery Faculty, Riau University, Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the best stocking density for growth and survival rate of baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) in the maintenance of aquaponic systems using water spinach vegetable species, with the treatment of fish stocking densities of 20 ind./m3, 25 ind./m3, 30 ind./m3and 35 ind./m3. The size of the fish used ± 4 cm, while water spinach plants used were 9 days old.The method used in this study is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) of a factor consisting of 4 levels of treatment with 5 replications so that 20 units of experiment are needed. The results of the study concluded that the baung fish with different stocking densities had a significant influence on growth, feed efficiency, feed conversion and survival rate of baung fish. The ideal stocking density for fish is 25 tails / cm3, with absolute weight growth of 2.94 g, absolute length growth of 3.80 cm, specific growth rate of 4.89% / day, feed efficiency of 73.90%, conversion feed of 1.35 and a survival rate of 94%.Aquaponic recirculation technology is able to maintain water quality and support the selection of baung fish. Keywords: Hemibagrus nemurus, Aquaponic, Stocking density

Abstract

The rearing technology of green catfish larvae has not yet established. Hight mortality occurred in the early larval stages. This experiment was conducted to study the effect of temperature and dissolved oxygen on metabolic rate and survival rate of green catfish larvae. 3600 green catfish larvae with initial individual mean weights of 1.24 ±0.19 mg and lengths 5.85 ±0.71 mm (one day after hatching) were reared in the aquarium of 30 cm x 30 cm x 40 cm dimension. Treatments were done at 3 levels of temperature 27oC, 30oC, and 33oC; and 3 levels of dissolved oxygen 6.47 ml/L, 1.05 ml/L, and 0.78 ml/L and 3 replications. The result showed that temperature and dissolved oxygen was significant to the oxygen consumption. Oxygen consumption of 0.67 ±0.25 mg O2/h/g and 0.86 ±0.005 mg O2/h/g was highest in larval reared at 33oC and dissolved oxygen 6.47 ml/L for 3 weeks. The higher water temperature the greater the oxygen consumption. The oxygen consumption decline with decreasing dissolved oxygen in the water, indicating an axyconformer type. The temperature was not significant to the survival rate and growth of the larvae. However the effect of dissolved oxygen was significant to the growth rate (P<0.05). Growth rate of 25.69 ±0.55% was highest in larval reared at 6.47 mg/L for 3 weeks.
