Abstract

Differentiated learning is an approach that adapts to the learning needs of each student. Teachers provide facilities that suit students' individual needs, bearing in mind that each student has unique characteristics and cannot be treated uniformly. This article aims to provide a deeper understanding of learning differentiation and explore teachers' perceptions regarding its implementation in the classroom. The results of interview research show that the purpose of differentiated learning is to coordinate learning by paying attention to students' interests, readiness and learning preferences. This aims to help all students achieve learning goals, increase motivation and learning outcomes, and establish a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, so that students are more enthusiastic about learning. In conclusion, differentiated learning gives students the opportunity to learn naturally and efficiently with the help of teachers who are able to combine the required methods and approaches. There are several obstacles that arise, such as limited facilities and infrastructure that support the differentiated learning process, teachers need time to prepare learning instruments, appropriate methods and appropriate media, implementing differentiated learning requires relatively high costs and teachers must have good classroom management skills. .

Abstract

This research aims to explore the level of scientific information literacy of class VII junior high school students in two schools in Palu City. The era of globalization demands students' ability to navigate social media and digital information sources critically. The survey method was used by collecting data from 50 students using structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Five dimensions of scientific information literacy are explored: information acquisition, information filtering, information credibility evaluation, information sharing, and opinion expression. The results showed that the majority of students demonstrated a high level of scientific information literacy, especially in information acquisition and filtering. However, the ability to evaluate the credibility of information and express opinions still requires further attention. These findings highlight the importance of developing students' critical skills in managing and assessing the information they encounter in digital environments. The educational implications of this research include the need for further integration of information literacy education in the school curriculum, with a focus on developing skills for evaluating the credibility of information sources and strengthening the ability to express opinions. Recommended strategies include intensive training for teachers in teaching information literacy, the use of technology to support learning, and the development of assessments that comprehensively reflect students' information literacy abilities. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the status of students' scientific information literacy at the junior high school level, as well as providing a basis for the development of more effective educational strategies for facing the current challenges of information globalization.

Abstract

Qualitative descriptive research was conducted to see the profile of the numeracy literacy and cultural literacy abilities of class VII students at State Middle Schools in South Palu District. By using purposive random sampling, 68 students were selected at SMP Negeri 6 Palu and SMP Negeri 21 Palu. The instruments used were a 5-number numeracy literacy ability assessment test in multiple choice form and a 20-number cultural literacy ability assessment test in the form of reasoned choices. The data analysis used refers to the Miles & Huberman analysis which consists of data collection, data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the numeracy literacy skills of class VII students at State Middle Schools in the South Palu sub-district are in the low category. Likewise, cultural literacy skills are in the low category. Therefore, it is hoped that teachers and policymakers can develop more effective and inclusive learning strategies, such as learning processes that emphasize literacy but are linked to cultural elements, as adequate learning facilities such as books and learning materials that focus on numeracy and cultural literacy. There is also a need for involvement from parents and the community to help students become more familiar with their regional culture so that cultural identity is maintained
