Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to reveal the perceptions and needs of pre-service biology teachers on biotechnology learning and their need for instructional media, especially on the topic of basic molecular biology techniques. This descriptive quantitative study was done purposively on 42 students who have completed the biotechnology lectures in Biology Education Program, Universitas Negeri Malang. The data collection instruments consisted of a biotechnology topic difficulty survey questionnaire and a felt needs questionnaire. The questionnaire response data analyzed using descriptive statistics showed that students perceived the laboratory activity of basic molecular biology techniques as a moderate level. On average, all students performed DNA analysis techniques, and only 55% of all students performed protein analysis techniques. Overall, students have feelings, understanding, and confidence at a moderate level, while they feel they have excellent learning assistance. Even so, students feel they need learning resources in the form of research-based multimedia to support learning on the topic of practicum on molecular biology analysis techniques, especially in protein analysis techniques. Research-based protein analysis techniques multimedia that is suitable for students' university cognitive development are considered to be developed in supporting biotechnology learning for pre-service biology teachers.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan persepsi dan kebutuhan calon guru biologi terhadap pembelajaran bioteknologi dan kebutuhan mereka akan media pembelajaran khususnya pada topik teknik dasar biologi molekuler. Penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif ini dilakukan secara purposive pada 42 mahasiswa yang telah menyelesaikan perkuliahan bioteknologi di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Negeri Malang. Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri dari kuesioner survei kesulitan topik bioteknologi dan kuesioner kebutuhan yang dirasakan (felt needs). Data tanggapan angket yang dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kesulitan aktivitas laboratorium teknik dasar biologi molekuler dianggap dalam kategori sedang. Rata-rata semua siswa melakukan teknik analisis DNA, dan hanya 55% dari seluruh siswa yang melakukan teknik analisis protein. Secara keseluruhan, siswa memiliki perasaan, pemahaman, dan kepercayaan diri pada tingkat sedang, sementara mereka merasa memiliki bantuan belajar yang sangat baik. Meski begitu, mahasiswa merasa membutuhkan sumber belajar berupa multimedia berbasis penelitian untuk mendukung pembelajaran pada topik praktikum teknik analisis biologi molekuler khususnya teknik analisis protein. Multimedia teknik analisis protein berbasis penelitian yang sesuai untuk perkembangan kognitif mahasiswa dinilai dapat dikembangkan dalam mendukung pembelajaran bioteknologi bagi calon guru biologi.

Abstract

This research aimed to produce learning material in the form of Biotechnological subject support textbook based on research of techniques and steps to reveal Costus speciosus Smith. leaf extract potency to the mice spermatozoa motility and phosphorylation activity for university student taking Biotechnological subject. This research was developing research. The research and developing model used was ADDIE developing model. ADDIE model used five developing steps, included of analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developing research data was textbook validity percentage from validation and opinion sheet obtained from tests result by material expert, media expert, and individual test by university student. The textbook validation result from test subject could be declared that it was very worthy and very valid so it was worthy to be used in Biotechnological subject.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar berupa buku teks penunjang matakuliah Bioteknologi berbasis penelitian tentang teknik-teknik dan langkah-langkah untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak daun pacing terhadap motilitas dan aktivitas fosforilasi pada spermatozoa tikus bagi mahasiswa yang menempuh matakuliah Bioteknologi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Model penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan yaitu model pengembangan ADDIE. Model ADDIE menggunakan lima tahap atau langkah pengembangan, yaitu analyze (analisis), design (desain), development (pengembangan), implementation (implementasi), evaluation (evaluasi). Data hasil penelitian pengembangan berupa persentase kevalidan buku teks dari lembar validasi dan tanggapan yang diperoleh dari hasil uji oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan uji coba perorangan oleh mahasiswa. Hasil validasi buku teks dari subjek uji dinyatakan sangat layak dan sangat valid sehingga layak untuk digunakan pada matakuliah Bioteknologi.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the RICOSRE learning model on analytical thinking skills of Class X students of SMAN 1 and SMAN 7 Malang. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The sample used was grade X students in each of the three classes in each school. Data collected in the form of pretest and posttest scores. Data analysis with anacova technique continued with LSD test. The results are known that the RICOSRE learning model significantly influences analytical thinking with an average increase of 59.58%.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran RICOSRE terhadap keterampilan berpikir analitis pada siswa kelas X SMAN 1 dan SMAN 7 Malang. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest nonequivalent. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X pada masing-masing tiga kelas di setiap sekolah. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa skor pretest dan skor posttest. Analisis data dengan teknik anakova dilanjutkan uji LSD. Hasilnya diketahui bahwa pembelajaran RICOSRE berpengaruh pada keterampilan berpikir analitis dengan rerata peningkatan sebesar 59,58%.

Abstract

The developed teaching material in this study is in the form of a research-based textbook on silkworm Bombyx mori L hormone. It was aimed to develop the textbook on animal development course that will be used as one of supplementary learning textbook for students of S1 Biology Department of State University of Jember. The development of this textbook deployed the Hannafin and Peck developmental model which consists of three phases: (1) Needs Assessment (Analysis Purposes Phase), (2) Design (Design Phase), and (3) Developing/ Implementing (Development and Implementation Phases). It is a developmental model of instructional design which is oriented to products. The data were obtained starting from the needs analysis, product design, product manufacturing, and product validation. The instrument used to collect the research data development used a questionnaire and interview guidelines. These data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the analysis showed that this textbook has met the eligibility requirements. The feasibility of a limited test of individual students was 94.7% which was obtained with a valid category, the test feasibility of media experts obtained by 93.35% with a valid category, and the test feasibility of material presentation of 98.89% with a valid category and appropriate to be used.Bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berupa buku ajar berbasis penelitian hormon ulat sutera Bombyx mori L. Pengembangan bahan ajar yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan buku ajar matakuliah perkembangan hewan yang akan digunakan sebagai salah satu sumber buku penunjang belajar bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi S1 Universitas Negeri Jember. Pengembangan buku ajar ini menggunakan model pengembangan Hannafin dan Peck, yang terdiri atas 3 tahap yaitu (1) Need Assessment (Fase Analisis Keperluan), (2) Design (Fase Desain), dan (3) Develop/Implement (Fase Pengembangan dan Implementasi). Model pengembangan ini merupakan model desain pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada produk. Data diperoleh diawali dengan analisis kebutuhan, perancangan produk, pembuatan produk, dan validasi produk. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian pengembangan menggunakan angket dan pedoman wawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan buu ajar yang disusun telah memenuhi syarat kelayakan. Tingkat kelayakan uji terbatas perorangan mahasiswa diperoleh sebesar 94,7% dengan kategori valid, uji kelayakan dari ahli media diperoleh sebesar 93,35% dengan kategori valid, dan uji kelayakan sajian materi sebesar 98,89% dengan kategori valid dan layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to reveal the difficulties faced by students in the learning process at the course of Structure of Animal Development II (SPH II), organogenesis of mesoderm derivatives material. Type of this research is descriptive research conducted at Offering G Biology Study Program, Mathematics and natural science faculty, State University of Malang. Data collection techniques are using observation, interview and questionnaires. The results of the study showed that 88.8% of students had difficulties in the learning process, 44.4% of them had difficulty to understand the material and 44.4% had difficulty to obtain reference. All students expect teaching materials that are equipped with supporting media. The conclusions of this study provide recommendation for developing printed book integrated with technology that can display videos to resolve student difficulties in learning.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran pada matakuliah Struktur Perkembangan Hewan II (SPH II) materi organogenesis turunan mesoderm. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan di Offering G Program Studi Biologi FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu menggunakan observasi, interview, dan angket kebutuhan mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 88,8% mahasiswa memperoleh kesulitan dalam proses pembelajaran, 44,4% diantaranya kesulitan memahami materi dan 44,4% lainnya kesulitan memperoleh sumber rujukan. Seluruh mahasiswa mengharapkan adanya bahan ajar yang dilengkapi dengan media penunjang. Adapun kesimpulan penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi pengembangan bahan ajar cetak terintegrasi dengan teknologi yang dapat menampilkan gambar bergerak atau video untuk membantu mengatasi kesulitan mahasiswa dalam belajar.

Abstract

Tarakan sea waters have geographical circumstances and landscapes that supported the existence richness of fishes that abundant and diverse. There is local fish called Pepija or Lembe-Lembe, but biological studies on this fish most poorly known. This research is aimed to identify the morphological characters of Nomei (Harpodon sp.). Based on specific caharcter, morphometric, and meristric characters. Morphometrics analysis can be used to clustering and understanding relationship of taxa. Each species represented 10% samples of male and female from each type we found and measured 35 characters (in mm). The canonical, clustering and similarity were used. Based on determinant morphological characters species (pectoral fin length reaches or exceeds the initial dorsal fin, dorsal fin earlier than ventral fins), dendogram morphological characters, meristic characters, PCA grouping proved that Nomei fish from Amal and Juata as Harpo-don nehereus.

Abstract

Dynamics of compound 1,3-β-glucan in Agaricus Blazei Murill (ABM) powder and the effect of renal and hepatic histopathology performed on 24 male rats aged 2 months, were randomly conducted in three treatments there are control, ABM powder, and the pure compound 1.3-β-glucan for 28 days. Provision of treatment given in the morning and then 1, 3, 8, 12, and 24 hours after administration of treatment blood was collected, while for urine and feces were collected every 8 hours. Giving treatment was continued until day 28. The results showed that the levels of 1,3-β-glucan in pure compounds is higher than the Agaricus Blazei Murill (ABM) powder. The effects on the kidneys and liver histopathology showed that cells necrosis more on pure compounds from the mushroom powder gods, both the kidneys and liver. This study shows that the use of pure compounds to be more careful than Agaricus Blazei Murill (ABM) powder in determining the doses used.

Abstract

Daidzein compounds dynamic and the effect of yam tuber (Pachyrhizus erosus (L)) Urb on myometrium rats model of estrogenic were investigated. Twentyfour of 5 months-old female Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three groups as followed, control, Daidzein administraton and yam tuber juice administration for 24 days. The administration of yam tuber juice were given by orally using a stomach with gavage tube in the morning. Every 8 h, the rats blood and urine were collected from tail until 24 h. The treatment were continued until 24 days. The result showed that the level of daidzein in blood and urine of rats that administratered by Yam tuber juice is lower than pure daidzein treatment rats every 8 until 24 hours of collection. The results demonstrated that the administration of yam tuber juice significantly myometrium proliferated in rats. It is assumed that genistein and quercetin is estrogenic as found in daidzein so that the miometrium is potentially more effecctive. This study suggest that phytoestrogen compound from Pachyrhizus erosus may offer a potential as natural estrogenic in women.

Abstract

The nutritional content of kian marine worm has never been reported. This study aimed to profile the nutritional content of worms from the Kei Islands, Maluku. Nutritional profiles were tested by proximate assays, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) of amino acids. The proximate analysis resulted in 71.16% of protein, 12.05% of water, 2.63% of carbohydrates, 2.21% of fat, 2.14% of crude fiber and 0.44% of ash. Mineral contents of Kian marine worm were 785.28 mg/kg potassium, 585.14 mg/kg magnesium, 180.98 mg/kg calcium, 0.89 mg/kg sodium and 0.44 mg/kg phosphorus. Kian marine worms contained 9 essential amino acids and 11 essential amino acids with levels of essential amino acids up to 206.94 mg/g and non-essential amino acids was 233.21 mg/g. Nutritional content in kian marine worms can be used as a potential high protein food resource.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a teaching materials of biology ubjects based on problem based learning combined by think pair share models that used in teaching circulation system at the 11th grades of natural science senior high school to improve students' science process skills. The development in this study following steps of 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) that developed by Thiagarajan. In this development study the teaching material just followed three steps until validation product at Develop phase. The teaching materials that developed in this study consist of syllabi, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessment sheet. Validation assessment was done by two lectures as education expert and content material expert from Universitas Negeri Malang and a teacher as practitioner expert from SMAN 1 Kasiman Bojonegoro. Validation by education expert shows the value of validity is 94.03, the validation by content material expert shows the value of validity is 91.50, and the result of the validation by practitioners shows the value of validity is 95.08. Based on the validation results of the three experts indicate that the teaching materials achieve very valid criteria that’s mean did not need to revision and can be be used in biology learning of circulation system to improve students' science process skills of the 11th grades of natural science senior high school.
